Really good college with lots of scope to become better.
Placements: Most of the students do get placed by the end of fourth year. In my course, the highest package offered is around 27-28 LPA, and the lowest goes till 12 LPA. Some top recruiting companies are Tata Steel, Jindal Power, Google, Amazon, etc., and for SDE roles.
Infrastructure: For my course, we have a separate building where the classes and labs happen. The labs are very intuitive and very fun. All the important machines are kept. The mess is good compared to mess at other colleges. We have single occupancy rooms with LAN and proper room cleaning once a week.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and knowledgeable. I find that the teacher always leads with the speed of the slowest students and helps everyone learn. The semester exams are challenging enough because it is an IIT, but the professors mark it in their own way and set paper according to the need of the course (if it's mostly theoretical or practical elements or research elements, etc.).
Other: I chose my course because of its popularity and my interest. There is a lot of scope for R&D in this field. On my campus, events keep happening from time to time; even some events of the G20 were hosted on my campus.

Really good but could be better.
Placements: 76.47% were placed with the highest CTC of 23 LPA and the lowest of 9.5LPA and an average of 13.41LPA. PSU's like Oil India Limited, BEL C-DOT, GAIL, TATA steel R&T, Applied Materials, Vedanta, JSW, L&T, Tata Steel etc. Have participated in this year of placements. 3rd year students have received internship offers in reputed industries. Top roles offered were Quality Tester, Quality control etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is top-notch. We have nearly every teach and machinery required. The department is air-conditioned with Wi-Fi facilities. The labs have nearly every apparatus required. Classrooms are top notch with the new Pushpagiri buildings with Wi-Fi, projectors etc. The library is also really good with nearly all the books and great seating arrangements. The reading room is open 24x7 during exams. The hostels are really good with single rooms for everyone. Each room has a light, fan B.Ed cupboard and balcony. Washing machines are provided in each floor. There are no restrictions. The mess serves hygienic food. We have great medical facilities 24x7. Nearly all sports and games are available.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified and are really knowledgeable. The teaching quality varies from teacher to teacher, some teach really well but some don't. The curriculum is relevant to some extent, everything is covered from the basics. The students are made industry ready for the most part. Some changes are also brought by the professor teaching the course. The difficult of exams varies with the course and the teacher. Most exams are of moderate difficult and nearly 90% of students pass the exams in our branch.
Other: We have four fests including socio-cultural, teach, sports, entrepreneurship etc. Scholarship is provided based on means. The campus is really huge around 963 acres. The campus is very near to the railway station and half an hour from the airport. The city is also around half an hour from the campus.

An honest review from the inside of IIT BBS.
Placements: This year, almost 80% of students in CSE had the highest CTC of 55 lpa, the average CTC of 20 lpa, and the lowest CTC of 8 lpa. The top recruiting companies are Tiger Analytics, Brane, Accenture, and Jaguar. The top roles offered are data analyst, data scientist, business analyst, and software engineer. This year, 23 PPOs were received. The number of PPOs received compared to the previous year and placement season was also not that good compared with the previous year.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure facilities are improving gradually. At present, there are a library, an auditorium, lecture hall complexes, a student activity center, department buildings, a shopping complex, two Nescafé's, basketball, volleyball, football, cricket, lawn tennis, badminton courts and a table tennis play area. Hostel staff are not cooperative and mess food is the worst. There are very few food alternatives available on campus.
Faculty: The curriculum is not up-to-date. One has to prepare on their own to secure decent internships and placements. The faculty are quite helpful and cooperative. Semester exams mainly concentrate on understanding and application ability. The curriculum does not make students industry-ready. Professors are highly educated, knowledgeable and student-friendly.
Other: IIT BBS has 4 fests in total. Ashvamedha- Sports Fest E-Summit: Entrepreneurship Fest Wissen Aire-Technical Management Fest Alma Fiesta: Socio Cult Fest Scholarships provided by the institute are merit-cum means scholarship (mcm). And fee reimbursement for low-income students. Every student will be allocated a single-occupancy room with all the basic requirements, like Wi-Fi.

Placements: The current placement rate stands at around 88%–92%, which varies for different branches. Reputed companies like Google, Amazon and many PSUs like HPCL, NALCO, etc. took part in the placement season. The median package offered is around 25–30 lakh, which also varies by branch. The highest package offered was 64 Lacs in the first round of placement season. Many core as well as non-core job profiles were available for students to choose from and apply to during this season.
Infrastructure: Since it is a second-generation IIT, the infrastructure is still under development. The campus has completed the second phase of its infrastructure development and the final phase of development is about to begin soon. But most of the lecture halls, labs, gardens, etc. have been completed. However, the hostel facilities are just top-notch, being the best among all IITs. Everyone is allocated a room of single occupancy. The mess food is also regularly monitored by the authorities, which ensures that the best quality food is available at an affordable cost. Availing a hostel is compulsory for everyone. The hostels are well-equipped with Wi-Fi and LAN facilities.
Faculty: The faculty members of this institute are just top-notch. All have postdoctoral degrees from various reputed universities across the globe and are very helpful in times of need. The course curriculum is completely aligned to the latest industry requirements. But since each one is better than the other, there is a lot of competition during semester exams, which are indeed very hard. But after consistently studying, one can easily score in these exams.
Other: A lot of activities happen throughout the academic year, including fests, competitions, celebrations, etc. There is a society for everything-from dance, music to machines learning, coding, etc.-and students can join any of them as per their choice to engage with the campus community. Scholarship are given by the institute in form of fee remission to those with an annual family income of less than 5 lakhs.

Not-so-good placements happening right now; the existing infrastructure is good.
Placements: Placements post-COVID have been regarding due to recession, and companies are not hiring in huge numbers as of now. More than 30 percent of students in this outgoing batch this year are yet to be placed. The highest package is 55 LPA, and the lowest package is around 6 LPA. Not even 50 percent of the class strength got internships during on-campus hiring. Most of us have to apply off-campus or do research internships.
Infrastructure: Hostels are nice and neatly maintained and everything. The mess food is bad, the quality of food is average, but the taste is not good. We have to depend on pickles and other non-perishable food. The campus is nice, but there are not many large trees, which causes the heatwaves to turn worse in summer.
Faculty: IIT Bhubaneswar offers a strong curriculum that covers various disciplines, and the faculty has Ph.D. qualifications. Regular feedback on ongoing courses and faculty will be taken from students. Exams will be conducted twice in a semester. One semester approximately goes on for 4 months; two months into the semester, students will have to take mid-semester exams. At the end of the semester, the end-semester exams will be conducted.
Other: The good part about IIT Bhubaneswar is that we get to learn so much from the faculty members, and we can spend our college life away from city noise, on a peaceful large campus. The bad part about the college is it is situated far from Bhubaneswar city; it takes nearly 1 hour to travel to the city.
