Really good college with lots of scope to become better.
Placements: Most of the students do get placed by the end of fourth year. In my course, the highest package offered is around 27-28 LPA, and the lowest goes till 12 LPA. Some top recruiting companies are Tata Steel, Jindal Power, Google, Amazon, etc., and for SDE roles.
Infrastructure: For my course, we have a separate building where the classes and labs happen. The labs are very intuitive and very fun. All the important machines are kept. The mess is good compared to mess at other colleges. We have single occupancy rooms with LAN and proper room cleaning once a week.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful and knowledgeable. I find that the teacher always leads with the speed of the slowest students and helps everyone learn. The semester exams are challenging enough because it is an IIT, but the professors mark it in their own way and set paper according to the need of the course (if it's mostly theoretical or practical elements or research elements, etc.).
Other: I chose my course because of its popularity and my interest. There is a lot of scope for R&D in this field. On my campus, events keep happening from time to time; even some events of the G20 were hosted on my campus.

Really good but could be better.
Placements: 76.47% were placed with the highest CTC of 23 LPA and the lowest of 9.5LPA and an average of 13.41LPA. PSU's like Oil India Limited, BEL C-DOT, GAIL, TATA steel R&T, Applied Materials, Vedanta, JSW, L&T, Tata Steel etc. Have participated in this year of placements. 3rd year students have received internship offers in reputed industries. Top roles offered were Quality Tester, Quality control etc.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is top-notch. We have nearly every teach and machinery required. The department is air-conditioned with Wi-Fi facilities. The labs have nearly every apparatus required. Classrooms are top notch with the new Pushpagiri buildings with Wi-Fi, projectors etc. The library is also really good with nearly all the books and great seating arrangements. The reading room is open 24x7 during exams. The hostels are really good with single rooms for everyone. Each room has a light, fan B.Ed cupboard and balcony. Washing machines are provided in each floor. There are no restrictions. The mess serves hygienic food. We have great medical facilities 24x7. Nearly all sports and games are available.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified and are really knowledgeable. The teaching quality varies from teacher to teacher, some teach really well but some don't. The curriculum is relevant to some extent, everything is covered from the basics. The students are made industry ready for the most part. Some changes are also brought by the professor teaching the course. The difficult of exams varies with the course and the teacher. Most exams are of moderate difficult and nearly 90% of students pass the exams in our branch.
Other: We have four fests including socio-cultural, teach, sports, entrepreneurship etc. Scholarship is provided based on means. The campus is really huge around 963 acres. The campus is very near to the railway station and half an hour from the airport. The city is also around half an hour from the campus.

B.Tech. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering - Batch of 2025
Offered by IIT Bhubaneswar - Indian Institute of Technology
3.8

Great campus atmosphere and hostels. Above average placements (Not upto the IIT standards recently).
Placements: Metallurgical and Materials Science engineering branch here at IIT BBS, contains about 40-45 students every batch. Placements scenario for Metallurgy is pretty decent with about 85-90% students getting placed each year. Recruiting companies like Tata Steel, Jindal, Reliance Industries in core area tend to take upto 10 students. Applied materials and some other companies combined to produce a good core placement for metallurgy compared to the other branches of Civil and Mechanical. But the internships scenario however is not upto mark, as only 4-5 students in the whole batch get a paid internship. The average package offered would be around 13-15LPA. And also, here at IIT BBS non-core (IT) placements are good enough and are open to all branches.
Infrastructure: Our department School of Minerals, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering has all the infrastructure required including classes and classrooms with Computers, AC, Visitors Lounge and Research Room for studying or group discussions, meeting room, seminar room, etc. Coming to the hostel, the hostels are very well maintained and are above standard across India. We have single accommodation from the very first year, which is a standout. Hostels are new and kept clean, along with having Wi-FI and LAN connections available. The corridors and bathrooms are cleaned everyday, and our rooms are cleaned once every week. However, the mess is below average as any other Engineering college across the country. Night canteen is available till 2-3 AM in the night. Medical unit is nearby and also games like carrom, table tennis are provided in the common rooms of the hostel.
Faculty: The curriculum is pretty standard for metallurgy like any other IIT, but there are some additional courses here in our college. The faculty is very well versed and experienced in the field. The quality of teaching is also good. But, our branch has many subjects, so in each semester, we mostly have at least one assignment or test or exam almost every week. The semester exams in the college are difficult but it depends on the instructor and varies from course to course.
Other: There are three fests in IIT BBS, namely Wissenaire, the Techno management fest, E-Summit, the annual entrepreneurial summit of IIT Bhubaneswar; and Alma Fiesta, a Cultural Fest. There are many societies and clubs which we can be joined based on our interests like Kalakriti, Cinewave, Clix, Souls for Solace, Neuromancers, Panacea, Abhivyakti, Nakasrta and FEBS, etc. Campus is lush green and pollution free with good quality air and weather. There is a general championship conducted each year.

Outstanding infrastructure and faculty.
Placements: IIT Bhbuabneshwar has a placement rate of about 75% for this course. The highest package was 15 LPA. The lowest was 4 LPA, and the average was 8 LPA. Top recruiters included Tata Steel and JSW. Approximately 70% of students secured internships at companies. The top roles are Process engineer and quality analyst .
Infrastructure: IIT offers excellent facilities for students, including high-speed Wi-Fi, state-of-the-art labs, modern classrooms, and a well-stocked library. The hostel is comfortable, with good food in the mess and canteen. Medical facilities are comprehensive, and sports and game amenities are top-notch.
Faculty: The engineering faculty of IIT has highly qualified, knowledgeable, and helpful teachers, providing excellent teaching quality. The curriculum is highly relevant and makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are challenging but fair, with a high pass percentage.

Satisfied with placements of the institute
Placements: Students become eligible from the seventh semester. As in the last year in the first ten days there were 270 offers were made in placement drive. The highest package offered was 67 lakhs and the least was 17 lakhs. As i dont know about internships till now but i have heard we will be eligible for internships from third sem and also companies start giving us opportunities.
Infrastructure: College campus is very greeny and nature friendly. There is the biggest central library in the campus which consist of thousands of books in it for all branches classrooms are also clean with one projector in each and also have healthy learning environment. Grounds are provided by the college for sports and their are many equipments for sport which we can handover and play with them . Facilities are unlimited in this college.
Faculty: Exams are taken in three parts as first exam on the half of the syllabus and the second on the another half. Third exam is based on the full syllabus and after that we can give the final exam. Exams are somehow difficult but most of the students get passed in exams. Course curriculum is very practical institute focuses on giving the practical knowledge rather than giving book knowledge which is the best thing and this makes us explore new things and be industry ready.
Other: I choose this course because i wanted to study in IIT.

A:

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.
