Average placements with beautiful infrastructure and knowledgeable faculty members.

Placements: M.Tech (chemical engineering): Regarding placements, my batch has a strength of 65 out of which just 4 are placed (core company). But on a positive side, if you are good with programming, you will get placed, since the IT companies are open for all.

IIT-Guwahati, M.Sc. Chemistry.

Placements: As M.Sc is not a professional course, which is a degree course so don't expect the placements. There are hardly 2-3 placements that too by coaching institutes like Akash, fITJEE, Allen, etc. For M.Sc course there is hardly any placements in IIT Guwahati. There is no placement cell for M.Sc students, but the B.Tech placements are good.

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati.

Placements: The placements are not good in core companies. The number of core companies coming for placement is very less. The non-core placements are good (especially in coding). Major core companies are Reliance, which creates job opportunity for 6-8 students every year, Schlumberger ( 1 or 2 every year), Honey well, IOCL, etc., visit the college.

This one is a good choice for a college.

Placements: The placements are generally good. In the previous batch, about 70% of the students were placed. The average salary offered was about Rs. 9 lakhs per annum. The highest domestic salary offered was Rs. 36 lakhs per annum out of about 400 domestic offers. There were 4 international offers.

The placements are good, and a lot of extra curriculum things are provided.

Placements: The placements are good. The highest placements were from Microsoft. Off-campus placements are very high and are better than on-campus placements. The average package for on-campus placements is 19 lakhs per annum. The second preferred branch here is B.Des. The annual package for this is around 16 lakhs per annum. These packages are not at all an accurate measure of the quality of placements as most of the good placements here are off-campus. More than 150 companies visit the college for placeme...

The most beautiful IIT with the steepest growth rate

Placements: The placement scene is quite good. We have some crore+ packages as well. The placement percentage is about 80-90 (excluding the rejection due to higher studies or startups) The non-core placements are very good. More and more companies come every year. Our recruiters are Goldman Sachs, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Tata, Schlumberger, Flipkart, Amazon, Adobe, Infosys, etc. The average domestic package is about 11-12 lakhs (CTC) and the highest domestic packages are about 50-60 LPA (CTC). I am very satisfied with the campus is very well maintained and provides some excellent facilities.

Placements: The placements were pretty good. The average package offered was Rs. 15 lacs. Actually, from this branch, a lot of people are used to opt for research. About 75% of the students get placed every year. The highest package offered was Rs. 15 lacs, and the lowest offer was Rs. 9.5 lacs. The branches like CSE and EEE have a huge average of Rs. 20 lacs. The companies like Microsoft, Flipkart, Schlumberger and a lot more visit the campus every year. The roles are offered in the core sectors like civil...

In other words, a good experience.

Placements: The placements are promising but it all depends on how the students approach these companies and the amount of work they put in themselves. The companies that mostly come to us are from the corporate social responsibility sector and some others belong to the social services sector. Some students even express an inclination towards opting for further studies for which they can apply for the PhD programme.

Good campus but the HSS department has to be improved further.

Placements: To be frank, none of our seniors from 2017 batch got better placements. Most of them are now preparing for NET exams. Some of them, however, have joined NGOs. To yield better results a lot of hard work is required. Unless some good initiatives are being taken, nothing can be hoped.

Good infrastructure and facilities.

Placements: The seniors have not been offered placements. The placement system is not up to the expectation. Quite often, the students from humanities are looked down upon. In fact, these students are no less and ideally should be offered the best of the best in all spheres. The placements need to be widened up for the humanities students.

Absolutely dissatisfied with the faculty and the course structure.

Placements: Placements are quite poor with PSUs lining up to hire at IITs the chances of getting placed are going to improve. Due to its location, not many companies are interested in coming all the way to IITG for hiring students. Most of the students are not placed and keep trying to get placed off-campus. Due to the course structure, the students are not job-ready by the end of 4 years so naturally, they are of no interest to core companies that look for well-updated engineers. ...

My observation within IIT Guwahati.

Placements: In particularly my department (mechanical), I don't know why, but less no. of core companies came for placement seasons. That's why here is high competition for core field. But in other fields like coding, analyst, consultant and others fields option also here. And majority of mechanical department students are placed in these fields. Those who have low cpi also have a very good chance to grab a job in any of these fields. Almost 50-65% students are placed from mechanical department. Almost 15-2...

One of the most beautiful campuses in India.

Placements: This year there were 3-4 placements with above 80 lakhs package. The percentage of placements varies from branch to branch, as in computer science, electrical and MNC almost whole batch was placed. In branches like Mechanical, civil & chemical, it was nearly about 50%. The companies which visited the campus from nearby all the sectors, like Oracle, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Rivigo, Citibank, ITC, IOCL, HPCL, L&T, Arkitechno, etc. There were about 70 pre-placement offers, offered to students. Nice college and good looking rooms.

Placements: 90%+ placement of our seniors. Students of CPI 7+ will be placed. The average package offered is Rs. 24 lakh, lowest is 15 lakh. A student got Rs. 93 lakh in Oracle. Many companies like Oracle, Samsung, Mahindra, Nutnix, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, VMware etc. In our branch, most students get job in software development. 70%+ go for internship.

Best for learning and great experience.

Placements: There will be less private companies like L&T in the placement season, making it impossible to crack a job in our field. But you will always have an opportunity in other fields. I would say that IITG CE has one of the best curriculum and work that is done here is good, which is finally helpful if you want to pursue MS or to crack IES. The placement percentage is about 40 percent in our batch this year.

Best education, very good non-core and coding placement offers but poor core engineering placements.

Placements: Placements of the previously passed batches were good. There are a lot of non-core companies visiting the campus in the placement season but the situation of the core engineering companies is poor. This is mainly because of the remote location of the campus over any metropolitan city. The highest placements offer previous year was by Google for about Rs. 85 lakhs pa, whereas some of the lowest placements were offered by the core companies. The companies mainly visiting the campus are Microsoft, ...

Placements: We used to hear that the IITs had wonderful placements which were a big myth. Except for the CS, M&C and B.des streams, I cannot recall a single branch which had placements more than 70%. The scenic beauty of IIT-Guwahati is mesmerizing. Spread over 700 acres, IIT-Guwahati has one of the best infrastructures and will make you appreciate the engineering skills of Indians. It is the best platform for people mainly from the North-East (also all-over India) to showcase their talent through tech-fest (Technique) and Cultural fest (Alcheringa). The times of Manthan and Kriti, inter-hostel cultural and technical competitions, bring out the best in the students to survive the brain battl...
