IIT Guwahati has a seat intake of 33 for a full-time Master of Design (MDes) programme of two-year duration. The institute offers 13 seats for the General category. Apart from this, IIT Guwahati has 3 seats for the EWS General category, 9 seats for OBC-NCL, 5 seats for SC, and 3 seats for ST. Additionally, there are 30 seats in MDes Electronic Product Design.

To be considered for admission to UCEED 2025 participating institutes, the candidates need to meet the following conditions simultaneously: 

1. Age limit - The candidate needs to be born on or after October 1, 1999. For candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories, there is a relaxation of five years. 
2. UCEED 2025 qualification - The candidate must have qualified in the UCEED 2025 entrance exam and must have been allocated a merit rank.
3. Qualifying examination - The candidate must have passed all the subjects in the qualifying exam (10+2 or equivalent) in 2023 or should be appearing in the qualifying exam for the first time in 2025.

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati B.Des admission is based on candidates' performance in the UCEED exam, followed by a councelling process. IIT Guwahati B.Des cutoff 2023 was concluded after Round 3 Seat Allotment Result. As per the IIT Guwahati cutoff 2023, the Round 1 and the Last Round closing ranks were 11 and 14, respectively for the ST category students. NIRF ranked IIT Guwahati 7 under the “Engineering” category in 2023. According to media reports, a total of 712 students were placed till Dec 6 during IIT Guwahati placements 2024. Further, the highest international and domestic package offered during IIT Guwahati placements 2024 stood at INR 2.05 Crore per annum and INR 1.20 Crore per annum, respectively.

The selection criteria for the M.Tech programme offered at IIT Guwahati comprises a valid GATE score followed by COAP counselling. Aspirants with a valid BTech or BE/ MCA/ MSc/ AMIETE degree with 60% aggregate or 6.0 CPI can apply. The GATE application process is carried out online (gate.iitk.ac.in). To qualify for IIT Guwahati MBA programme CAT is mandatory. Without a valid CAT score interested students cannot apply for MBA at IIT Guwahati. Candidates who want to enrol at IIT Guwahati MBA course admission must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria as per the course's requirements. Aspirants need to be graduate with 50% aggregate from a recognised institution. Additionally, the pass certificate and mark sheets have to be presented at the time of admission as proof of eligibility for verification purposes.

The tuition fee for the residential Master of Design (MDes) programme offered at IIT Guwahati is INR 20,000. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories are exempted from payment of tuition fees. UCEED releases qualifying cut off in the form of mean deviation and standard deviation. Appearing in UCEED 2023 or being on the admission rank list does not guarantee admission to IIT Guwahati BDes courses. Candidates who have passed UCEED 2023 must apply separately to the UCEED participating institute for BDes admission. Apart from passing the UCEED exam, the candidates are required to fulfil the eligibility criteria, category certificates and other documents, as well as the UCEED score, to be verified by IIT Guwahati. 

Candidates with BTech or BE/ MCA/ MSc/ Graduation (AMIETE) with 60% aggregate or 6.0 CPI are eligible for the M.Tech in IIT Guwahati. Further, there is 0.5% CPI or 5% marks relaxation for SC/ST/PwD category candidates. Candidates must also have valid score in the national level exam GATE exam and they must also participated in the COAP Counselling (GATE not required for the sponsored category). 

In order to get admission to IIT Guwahati MBA course, candidates must apply and appear for CAT exam. The CAT application process for IIT Guwahati admission 2023 is closed now. However, candidates who have completed master degree can also apply for the course at IIT Guwahati. Candidates in the final year of their graduation are also eligible to apply. If the aspirant gets selected, their admission will be provisional and is subject to them fulfilling the essential eligibility standards by the specified time prescribed by the Institute.

To apply for admission to the BTech course at IIT Guwahati, candidates must visit the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and fill out the application form in online mode for JEE Main. For other courses such as MSc, MTech, BS-MS (Dual Degree) etc., candidates must visit the official website of respective national-level entrance exam conducting bodies and fill out the application form in online mode. IIT Guwahati offers a full-time MA programme lasting two years. To be eligible for MA admission, candidates must have completed their graduation in any discipline from a recognised university. To be eligible, they must have scored a minimum of 60% aggregate in their graduation. Additionally, they must present the relevant documents to prove their eligibility at the time of admission. IT JAM Fifth Admission List 2024 has been released for IIT Roorkee admisison to the MSc courses. As per the IIT Roorkee JAM cutoff 2024, the required score to get into IIT Roorkee for General All India category candidates varied between 52 and 232. Similarly, for the OBC AI category candidates, the required rank lie between 109 and 420.
