College culture is superb.
Placements: Around 80% of students in my batch have been placed, with placements still ongoing. The highest package was INR 40 LPA, the lowest package was INR 8 LPA, and the average package was INR 14 LPA. Airbus was the top recruiting company last year. About 20% of students got internships at Airbus, working as front-end developers.
Infrastructure: IIT Madras offers excellent facilities, including Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, library, hostels, rooms, mess, food, culture, surroundings, security, and more. The hostel rooms are very hygienic, and the mess food is also very good. All other facilities are top-notch.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified and extremely helpful. They do make students industry-ready by teaching many practical aspects of the course. The course is more difficult compared to other branches, with a stronger focus on physics. The passing criteria is 49%.
Other: I chose this course because I had a keen interest in it. Some areas could be taught more practically, but overall, everything is superb, including the campus and crowd.

World of opportunities-IITM.
Placements: More than 80 percent of the students got placed and the remaining students opted to go for higher studies, Hardly 5% of the students got placed in Aerospace Engineering. So profiles in which students got placed are Software Developer, Data Analyst, Management, Consultant and lot more. The highest package was beyond 30 lacs.
Infrastructure: Department had older rooms but there were many new buildings constructed for different labs and All the rooms had Wi-Fi system enabled. The hostel was of course our second home for these many years. We had a lot of fun flying drones inside the hostel and playing sports. It has security at the gate.
Faculty: There is no doubt about the qualification of the teachers at IIT but if you are talking about the relevance of the courses in your life, then it is very tough to say as I have mentioned students are opting for different profiles that have no direct link with engineering courses. If the student attends regular class and does the assignments then it is easy to score beyond 8 CGPA.
Other: The best experience will be during college festivals and in the clubs, which will make you an all-rounder person and will help you to build your personality and be a leader.

It was an amazing college. The best experience, students could get in life.
Placements: Almost 90% to 95% of the students got placed from our batch. Students who ever didn't get placed had not attended for the placements and opted for higher studies. The lowest salary package offered was 9 LPA, and the highest salary package offered was above 30 LPA. Top recruiting companies of our college were Google, Flipkart and Quantitative Brokers. Around 80% to 85% of the students got internships. Top roles offered were management and data science.
Infrastructure: Classrooms in our college were average and needed renovation. Wi-Fi facility was not available in our college. However, the library was good, which was a peaceful place for doing a lot of things. Facilities in the hostel were good, but there was no Wi-Fi facility. However, LAN speed was great, and the bathrooms were cleaned regularly. The hostel premises were cleanly maintained, and the student-run bodies acted correctly in the hostel. Facilities like a mess, canteen, medical facilities, sports, and games were top-notch.
Faculty: Faculty members were qualified and knowledgeable, and the teaching quality varied from teacher to teacher. I have seen poorly teaching professors to great teachers. They were amazing at their respective fields with irrespective of what their teaching. The course curriculum was slightly outdated. It should get develop related to the current industry standards. For the aerospace industry, we could start as juniors, but a lot of experience was required. It would be good if the college could upgrade these courses.
Other: I have chosen this course out of interest. Events here were amazing, and the campus crowd and college life here were really good. Many scholarships and exchange opportunities were available. Extracurricular facilities like the Center for Innovation, etc., were available, which were life changers.

IITM - University for overall development.
Placements: They were pretty good. Most of the students who applied for placements got placed. Out of 18 students who registered from my programme, 13 got placed. I think the average salary is around 10 LPA. The placement cell is very effective and efficient. Most elite companies like Airbus, Eaton will be the recruiters.
Infrastructure: There is amazing Infrastructure. There is Wi-Fi in the department and LAN in the hostels. The food is fine and there are many options for mess. There are also so many eateries in the campus which are open till late night. The hostel rooms are comfortable and there are many inter hostel sports, technical and cultural competitions. The campus life is amazing and will be helpful in overall development of the student.
Faculty: The faculty is very helpful and the courses are very interesting. There is a provision of choosing the courses and hence is helpful for gaining and strengthening the basics in the field of interest. If inclined towards research, project can be done under the professor working in that field of research. All students should do a compulsory industrial internship and hence there is industry exposure. There are seminars conducted by scholars and researchers in the industry.

Extremely good with good faculty and infrastructure, and ranked the no.1 college of India.
Placements: The placements were good. Out of a batch of 80 aerospace students, 20-25% chose to apply for higher studies, 50-55% got placement offers from campus placements and the rest applied for off-campus placements. The highest salary offered in the core was around 15 lacs, the lowest being 5 lacs whereas in non-core, the highest salary was 25 lacs and minimum being 8 lacs. The average salary offered was around 9 lacs. Core companies like Airbus, Honeywell, Rolls-Royce(offering Engineer roles), and non-core companies like Axis Bank, Goldman Sachs, Urban Ladder (offering Analyst roles) visited the campus. Around 40% of students got an internship from the campus, and the others got it from off-campus. The highest stipend offered was 50,000/month while the minimum was 10,000/month.
Infrastructure: The facilities, in general, are good. A secured Wi-Fi connection is available in most of the departments and an open Wi-Fi is available in the library. The Internet connection has a speed up to 2 Mbps in the hostels. The central library is ISO-certified and on par with the world-class facilities and with ID card check-ins, automated ID card issuing of books, automated renewal available. Apollo Hospital is located in the campus with 24x7 medical facilities free of cost to students, and availability of doctors at all times. The sports complex is dedicated to all the activities related to sports like weight-lifting, etc. One of the finest cricket grounds of Chennai is available, and a furnished wooden court for badminton is at the SAC building. The labs are supposedly the best in India, for higher research all costly machines and tools are available. The classrooms are well-furnished. The Himalaya building is allocated for the messes and has 8 different dining options. The food served is good and a healthy balanced diet is served at a subsidised rate of Rs 90/day/student. There are 20 hostels which are very well-furnished, with 24*7 high-speed internet facility, well-furnished rooms, and 4 fully automatic washing machines at each floor available.
Faculty: The faculty team is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Many senior faculty members are graduates from IITs and are MS/PhD-qualified from foreign universities. The teaching is through the classroom lectures primarily and also through online lectures in some cases. Student to faculty ratio is 5:1. The industrial training is part of the curriculum and carries 2 credits. Apart from that, industrial field trips are there. The course curriculum was very appropriate and useful. You have the liberty to take courses from other departments as well.

  • MSc: IIT Madras accepts admission to the MSc programme based on a valid score/ rank in the IIT-JAM exam.

Q:   Is IIT JAM difficult?

A:

Experts share that the IIT JAM exam is difficult to clear. This is not because the difficulty level of the questions asked is very high but because the selection ratio through the IIT JAM exam is low. However, this does not mean that the questions asked in the exam are very easy.
