Engineering college with best placements.
Placements: The placements at IIT Madras are among the best and it attracts companies like Google, Goldman Sachs, BCG, McKenzie, JP Morgan, Intel, Samsung, ITC, HUL, Shell, Adobe, and many others. The lowest package during my year was around 4.5 lacs per annum and the highest overall package was 80 lacs per annum. Not even job placements, students get the required guidance from seniors about pursuing higher education outside India.
Infrastructure: The campus is around 4-5 kms from Marina Beach and has an area of around 630 acres. It has all the facilities required for academic, sports, medical, among others. The institute has a stadium, Olympic-size pool, basketball courts, tennis courts, football stadium, cricket stadium, and many other sports facilities. There are 20 hostels for students and separate mess for boys and girls.
Faculty: IIT Madras has been ranked number 1 engineering college in India for the past 4 years. This shows the excellence the college has in terms of faculty members, curriculum, research, infrastructure, and industrial relations. The faculty members here are highly motivated and are involved in teaching as well as consultancy projects.

Review of IIT Madras - Indian Institute of Technology Chennai (IITM).
Placements: The college is known for its strong technical education and industrial relations. IIT Madras has been a favourite destination of recruitment for many firms. The recruiters include many multinational companies like Google, Microsoft, General Email, and multinational investment banks like Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, and Citi. Many PSUs and government-led companies like UIDAI, ISRO, ONGC, Coal India and startups like Noodle analytics, Finmechanics have chosen IITM as a hiring platform for many roles like a consultant, business analyst, and IT. The lowest salary package offered was about 4.5 LPA, and the highest salary package offered was about 95 LPA. The average salary package was about 12 LPA. Almost 85% of the registered students have got placed, considering both the phases. There were many double and triple offers, where the student has the advantage to choose the best option for them. The placement core team, including all the co-coordinators and volunteers, have worked hard to arrange different sessions of mock tests, mock GDs, and many other sessions to build confidence in students. They also request the companies to recruit the maximum number of people they can, by arranging walk-ins and deciding the right student for the role. In this way, the placement cell was useful.
Infrastructure: As one of the premium institutes in the country, IITM has the best infrastructure facilities as one would expect. The institute includes a 5 storeyed-building with Wi-Fi facility and access to a wide variety of books and journals. Medical facilities are available 24x7 with specialist doctors, for students and faculty members. Sports facilities like Olympic-size swimming pool and state-of-the-art athletic stadium, cricket, hockey, football and others are available on the campus. Gym facilities are available for all the students. As IITM is a lush green campus, with rich flora and fauna, we can see many deers inside the campus. So, students are not allowed to maintain powered motorcycles to maintain greenery. Almost every student has a bicycle, and those who don't have, there is always a free bus facility, available for every 15 minutes, for transportation with in the campus.
Faculty: Every faculty in IITM is well-qualified as the general trend of faculty joining nowadays are expected to complete 2 post-doctorates in their respective field of research. Although many students won't show much interest during the lectures, still, the faculty members complete the syllabus allotted, in time. But when you interact with the professor individually, you can earn a great knowledge and can estimate the depth of understanding and command the respective faculty has in their respective field. Some professors use the blackboard to teach, and some others use the projector. There are many free elective courses for students to choose, who wants to explore different fields of engineering, humanities and mathematics. So, this is the reason many students from the background of mechanical, civil and aerospace engineering, end up in doing jobs with data analytics, software developers, web developers, finance, etc. The course curriculum is prepared beforehand and followed accordingly.
Other: Every year, during January, IITM celebrates one of the biggest Indian college fests named Saarang, which is a 5-day cultural fest with a footfall of around 50,000. Shaastra is a 4-day technical fest organised to showcase the talents and technology of students' innovations. Apart from these, each department conducts its department-specific fest in March. The odd semester has full of events, which are related to technology, literature and arts. Even semesters will hold sports events and student elections, to elect student's representatives for the next academic year. All events are of the hostel level, and every hostel takes much pride in winning the overall championship every year. Students who belong to the economically backward category, MCM scholarship is provided. One needs to maintain a decent GPA in every semester, which is quite less than the average GPA. Chennai is famous for beaches and temples. It is better to learn Tamil quickly as most of the people in Chennai prefer to converse in their native language. One of India's the biggest shopping mall Phoenix, Chennai is just at the walkable distance from Institutes Velachery gate. Tada Waterfalls, Mahabalipuram, Pichavaram Man Grove forest, Nagalapuram Trek and Pondicherry, are some of the nearby vacation spots to relax and enjoy.

The best place and worth the struggle we face in the entrance exam. It is like a heaven for techies.
Placements: There are good placements with an average package of 8 Lacs per annum. Good mechanical companies and foreign established brands can be found in the placements. As it is an IIT, many companies such as TATA, Rolls-Royce, Volvo, Mercedes, etc., come for the placements every year.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure in IIT, Madras is the best of its kind. The classrooms are spacious and made scientifically. There is a vast lab facility which you cannot find in any other college in India. It has one of India's top machines to have hands-on experience before you leave this place.
Faculty: The faculty are all PhD holders. So, there is no doubt on the faculty knowledge, and quality is the best in India. Audio-visual prototype models are used for providing proper understanding to the students. The department arranges the industrial trips on a regular basis.
Other: Some of the famous fests you can google are Sastra Sarang research scholar day, traditional day and also many national and international conferences are frequently held here. Every day, there is a programme of some prominent personality giving a lecture on something useful.

Great college. I am satisfied!
Placements: Placements have always been exceptional here. 300+ core and non-core companies recruit students here. Only a few CS people are offered 50+ LPA packages, and that too for a job overseas. 20+ LPA packages are more common (offered by companies like Goldman Sachs, McKenzie, Indeed, Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart etc). The median salary stands somewhere near 13 lakhs. Lowest rung of students CG wise get placed in some IT profile offering low paying companies. 4 lakhs was the least salary offered last year. Around 60 percent students get internship offers every year. Highest-2 lakhs per month and the lowest being - no payment. Average - 10000 per month.
Infrastructure: The campus sits adjacent to the Guindy National part and is an amalgam of concrete structures and trees itself. Internet in the hostels is through LAN, and Wi-Fi is not available everywhere. We have an open-air amphitheatre, a huge stadium with synthetic tracks, swimming pools, a student activity centre, a central workshop, a gymkhana, and a lot more. Hostel rooms are quite small (8*6 feet). The quality of food in messes is quite tolerable. A few classrooms in the classroom complex are air-conditioned. Lab facilities are certainly one of the best in the country.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly efficient in adopting new concepts in the curriculum and staying with the times. The teaching style slightly fails to captivate me. The exams are very stimulating and mostly out of the books. Student-Faculty ratio is 2.5:1 (in my department). Industry exposure is an integral part of our curriculum. My department is infamously called as the suicide branch for a high number of students perpetrating suicides unable to cope the pressures of Dual degree project/coursework. The curriculum has become relatively easier and relevant since.
