B.Tech. in Civil Engineering - Batch of 2028
4.2

NIT Jalandhar has a good alumni network.
Placements: We are the 2024 batch. Our batch will graduate in 2028. Companies like Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Shapoorji Pallonji, and Hindustan Construction Company often visit the campus for internships. These are highly competitive and offer exposure to real-world projects.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi: High-speed internet access in all hostels. Water Supply: Round-the-clock supply of clean drinking and utility water. Electricity: 24/7 power backup. Washrooms: Regularly cleaned and well-maintained shared washrooms. Common rooms: Equipped with TVs, indoor games, and seating areas for relaxation.
Faculty: The Civil Engineering Department at NIT Jalandhar has experienced faculty members with expertise in fields like structural engineering, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, and transportation engineering. Most faculty members hold advanced degrees (Ph.D. or equivalent) from prestigious institutions, contributing to research and consultancy projects. Exams are of medium level.
Other: TechNITi (Technical Fest): Description: The flagship technical festival of NIT Jalandhar, featuring workshops, hackathons, coding contests, and project exhibitions. B.Tech. in Data Science and Engineering - Batch of 2024
3.8
4Placements4Infrastructure4Faculty4Crowd & Campus Life3Value for Money
The campus area is small compared to other NITs, but campus life is amazing.
Placements: For our batch, the placement performance was quite impressive, with approximately 70% of students successfully placed in reputed companies. The placement cell was proactive in bringing a variety of recruiters to the campus, offering diverse opportunities aligned with our course curriculum. Highest Package: 12 LPA Average Package: 5 LPA Lowest Package: 3 LPA Top Recruiting Companies: Several well-known companies actively recruited from our course. Some of the top recruiters included Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
Infrastructure: Infrastructure for the course & hostel is good, with modern teaching aids such as projectors and smart boards. High-speed Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the campus. Sports and games are good as there is a big ground for cricket and football and a well-maintained court.
Faculty: The difficulty of the course largely depends on the professor, so it's important to stay well-prepared. To pass a subject each semester, you need to score at least 40 out of 100 overall, with a minimum of 15 marks in the end-semester exam, and there is an FE subject.
Other: My course is Data Science, there are only 40 seats, and it is a new branch.

B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering - Batch of 2026
2.6
3Placements2Infrastructure3Faculty2Crowd & Campus Life3Value for Money
Review of National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar.
Placements: This year I. e 2024 placements were not good. Companies like Amazon, google did not visit our campus. The highest oncampus package was 19 Lacs offered by Oracle. Top recruiting companies for CSE were Oracle, BPCL for the SDE roles. Internship percentage was also less only 14 students got internship in Microsoft. No other company visited for internships. The lowest package was 3 LPA.
Infrastructure: Facilities- Wi-Fi is available in hostels and CSE department also it has a good range. The hostels for the first year students are not at all good. They are 4 sharing which makes it really difficult to study as there is no reading room also and the in-time is very less so you cant go to library also. For the 2nd-4th year girls, hostel is good. The mess food is good. Library conditions are not at all good. In one side of the library even fan is not there, which makes it really difficult to study in summer. They don't give conducive conditions for students to study. Like we have one lab called CC lab in which students can study after their classes but irony is that "no charge is allowed" because according to some gentleman who is in-charge there, "students pull the charging board out while plugging out their charges". How are the students going to study? They have opened a new library also which open from 9am-5pm. Classes timing are 8:30 am-5:30 pm. Like what's the point?
Faculty: Teachers are neither helpful nor knowledgeable. Teaching quality is really poor. No concept is ever cleared. They all have a lot of ego. Course curriculum is outdated and not at all makes us industry ready. Like we are taught "microprocessors" in 2024! Semester exams level is okay but some teachers have a habit of setting up a difficult question paper and not giving marks thereafter.

B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering - Batch of 2028

Good rules and regulations.
Placements: In Chemical Engineering, NITJ achieved 100% placements in 2024, with an average package of 7.89 LPA. The highest package was 15.17 LPA at Amazon in the tech stream. Placements in all branches are above average, with good quality students and a good placement ratio.
Infrastructure: Some hostels are congested, but new hostels have enough space for students and good facilities. The rest of the infrastructure is fantastic, and there are grounds to play games, with an instructor for every game. The college organizes tournaments for each game.
Faculty: Faculty is strict in the classroom, but they are okay in behavior. The curriculum is set according to students' welfare, providing rest after exams and holidays for festivals. The college also runs various schemes like laptop loans with zero interest over four years.

B.Tech. in Mathematics and Computing - Batch of 2028
4.2
4Placements4Infrastructure4Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life4Value for Money
Quite Awesome Campus Life and Placements.
Placements: This is our first batch of Mathematics and Computing at NIT Jalandhar, and so there are no prior records of placement. But since this branch is very much similar to CSE, the expected average package would be around 14-15 LPA, as per my understanding. Top recruiting companies are mainly IBM, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Accenture, etc. In my course, the top roles are mainly of AI and ML experts. Students also got expertise in IT and Data Science.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is quite awesome here since the buildings are not very old. Bathrooms are cleaned regularly. All the rooms are well-furnished, and Wi-Fi is freely available throughout the campus. The classrooms are well-equipped with projectors and sound systems. The Central Library is one of the best libraries I have seen till date. Mess food is also very nice, the menu is decided by the mess committee. The night canteen and Snackers provide food at a very nominal cost. If any student has any type of health problem, the dispensary is there. Sports facilities are also good.
Faculty: Teachers here are very helpful. They have very good knowledge regarding their subject. They are always ready to help students. The course curriculum is quite relevant as it contains content that prepares students to be industry-ready. The semester exams are at a good level, and if you want to get good scores, you need to study well. The pass percentage was about 90% in my course.
Other: I opted for this course because it is a CSE-related branch and also has Mathematics, which helps us in understanding the concepts of AI and ML. It gives us an edge over CSE students who don't have much knowledge about mathematics. Almost everything is better in my course, still, if there is some improvement in timetables, it will be helpful to students. Two major events here are Techniti and Utkansh. The campus is not very crowded, and there are parks and lawns. The connectivity with the city is good as auto rickshaws are always available at the college door. Scholarships are also provided.

B.Tech. in Biotechnology - Batch of 2027

Less placement but good college life.
Placements: The placement scenario for the 2024 batch has been quite average. Approximately 33% of the students have secured placements. This average placement rate underscores the programme and it need to be improved in upcoming future. The highest package offered to a student from this batch was impressive 18 Lacs per annum. This reflects that the highest package is good. On the there hand the lowest package is 7 Lacs per annum which is also quite satisfying, mostly the students were placed in IT sector and very less core companies came er.
Infrastructure: The college features state-of-the-art lecture halls equipped with multimedia projectors, audio- visual aids, and comfortable seating chair, our college also had advanced laboratories and have all the machines, but many machines were old and not in working conditions. So the need of new machines is required in our institute overall the hostels and campus is quite good.
Faculty: Exams are known for their rigour, testing not only student's knowledge but also very hard to pass here. The exams are easy, but the checking of answers sheet is relatively very hard to pass the examination, so the professors here use the concept of relatively marking criteria and grading, and moderation of grades take place here in order to pass the students otherwise the pass percentage is less than 70%. The professors are knoweldgeful and helpful when reach to them. But many professors are strict here so be careful.
