Q:   What is the total fee of the BTech course at NIT Calicut?

A: 

The total tuition fee of the four-year BTech course offered at NIT Calicut is INR 5 lakh. This fee is for the candidates belonging to the General, OBC, and EWS categories and has an annual income greater than INR 5 lakh. Moreover, the total course fee shall include hostel fees of INR 3.43 lakh and a one-time fee of INR 30,500 as well. Students must further note that the given fee is as per the official website/ sanctioning body and is subject to change.

    Good placements in 2020 and really good infrastructure.
    Placements: 90% students get placed in multinational companies with good packages. The highest package is 37 LPA, average is 23 LPA and the lowest is 17 LPA. Top recruiters are Wipro, Orient, Semiconductor companies, etc. 95% students get internship in IITs and various companies. Top roles are Manager and MD Researcher.
    Infrastructure: Material Science and engineering department has the most valued lab XRD machine is in the lab. Classrooms are good with 24*7 Wi-Fi connection. Both North Indian and South Indian Food are available in mess. There are 14 messes in the college for 12 hostels. Health centre is near the campus with 24*7 working time ambulance services are also available. Inter NIT Teams selections and practices are here for both men's and women's.
    Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and they have UG and PG from IITs. Teaching quality is also good. The course curriculum is relevant and it makes the students industry ready. Semester exams are medium in difficulty level and pass percentage is 40. Assignments and projects are there.

    Review of NIT Calicut National Institute of Technology.
    Placements: Around 85-90% of students are placed. The average salary package offered is 10 LPA. Tata Steel is one of the top recruiting companies. Many students get internships in several companies in the non-core field and they are interested in programming languages.
    Infrastructure: The department contains various equipment for research options. Hostel facilities are well-equipped. In the first year, there are 4 students in each room but later, 2 students can share each room. The library is huge and several books are available.
    Faculty: All faculty members are Ph.D. scholars and they are knowledgeable in their field. Our course curriculum is designed considering foreign institutes. Semester exams are difficult and the pass percentage is around 70%. Exams include questions on all topics including their practical approach.

    Review of National Institute of Technology Calicut.
    Placements: Our college provided 100% placements. The highest salary package was offered till now for a student who secured a 9.7 CGPA and the lowest salary package is offered to a student with a 6.5 CGPA. Many companies like Fact, Saint gobain, KMML, software companies, etc., offered internship programs.
    Infrastructure: Our college has high-speed Wi-Fi facilities, well-equipped labs, large library with a study hall. There are different hostels for both ladies and men which has a lot of accommodation facility. There are various messes that provide both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.
    Faculty: Faculty members in our college are very friendly, helpful, and qualified. Faculty members are approachable. They will make us understand the concept clearly. Semester exams are easy. The curriculum is relevant. The pass percentage depends on the marking scheme.

    Q:   What are the facilities available at NIT Calicut?

    A: 

    The campus of the National Institute of Technology Calicut is located in Calicut (Kozhikode) city. NIT Calicut covers an area of around 120 hectares. The campus is green, and the ambience is very enjoyable. It is a residential campus, with all amenities available on and around the campus. There are 13 hostels on the campus, out of which 10 are for boys and 3 for girls. All the hostels have a common room and recreational centre where newspapers, magazines, TVs, and indoor sports and games facilities are available. Free 24-hour internet and computational facilities are available in almost all hostels. Messes operated by outsourcing are available in all hostels. The central library has a collection of over 1.55 lakh books, 193 national and international journals, and other resources that cater to knowledge. The institute provides transportation services for the campus community in the morning and evening shifts. The bus service also runs in the afternoon from the east campus towards the hostel area.

    A: 

    No, NIT Calicut does not facilitate direct admission to any of the courses. Admission is entirely based on merit in the national-level exams, including JEE Main,  GATE,  IIT JAM,  CAT,  NIMCET,  UGC NET, etc. Candidates are further required to participate in other selection rounds, such as counselling, written exam, and interview as well, as per the applied course selection criteria.
