NIT Calicut has a seat intake of 75 for the full-time MSc course offered in three specialisations. The institute reserves 25 seats for each specialisation. In addition, the institute reserves 5% seats for PwD category candidates followed by norms of the Government of India.

Candidates with a BSc or equivalent UG degree with at least 60% aggregate or 6.5/10 CGPA (55% aggregate or 6.0/10 CGPA for SC/ST/PWD category) are eligible to apply for an MSc course of NIT Calicut. The aspirants must hold the UG mark sheets and pass certificates as proof of eligibility. The institute admits candidates only after document verification.

Admission to the course is entrance-based. It is also crucial that applicants fulfil the eligibility criteria and have the relevant documents as proof for the same. Only the aspirants with a valid score of IIT JAM can apply for an MSc course at NIT Calicut. The selected candidates further need to take part in CCMN counselling for seat allotment. The total course fee includes various components such as tuition fee, caution deposit, admission fee, hostel fee (if applicable), development fee, etc. The total tuition fee for MSc in NIT Calicut is INR 30,000, the hostel facility cost INR 18,000, and a one-time payment (including various components) of INR 30,500. NIT Calicut offers a two-year MSc course in three specialisations. The full-time PG course is offered in specialisations, including Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics. NIT Calicut admissions are entirely entrance-based for all its UG & PG courses. Candidates are shortlisted based on their past academic records along with their scores in the respective entrance exams accepted for different courses. However, for MBA, candidates must apply on the official website of NIT Calicut.

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% aggregate (6.0 out of 10 CGPA) for SC and ST categories)  is the basic eligibility required to get admission to MBA at NITC. The aspirants shall further have a minimum of three-year work experience. Furthermore, all the documents such as bachelor’s degree, mark sheets, etc. are required at the time of admission for verification purposes.

No, NIT Calicut does not facilitate direct admission to any of the courses. Admission is entirely based on merit in the national-level exams, including JEE Main,  GATE,  IIT JAM,  CAT,  NIMCET,  UGC NET, etc. Candidates are further required to participate in other selection rounds, such as counselling, written exam, and interview as well, as per the applied course selection criteria.

The institute offers two undergraduate courses, five postgraduate courses, and one doctoral course. The offered courses by NIT Calicut are as namely BTech, BArch, MTech, MSc, MBA, MPlan, MCA, and PhD.
