B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2022
Offered by Mahant Bachittar Singh College of Engineering and Technology
3.4

The college has good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: The quality of placements is good. Every year, 70% of students got placed. The highest salary package offered is 7 LPA, and the lowest package is 3.5 LPA. The average package is 4-5 LPA. The placement process is pleasant, and the management is supportive. Every year, many of them got placed in good companies.
Infrastructure: The college has all the necessary equipment and infrastructure. We have Wi-Fi, and each class has access points. So, we get internet every time. We have good sports, and the hostel is good, with good premises and food. The food is hygienic, and the living spaces are clean and tidy.
Faculty: I'm studying mechanical engineering. The quality of teaching is good. Our faculty learn everything before teaching in our class. The curriculum is updated. It makes students industry-ready. It helps the students to build a good future.

It is not much good college but still it is far better than others.
Placements: Students were willing more, but the opportunities were too low. There was approximately one job for 200 students. Even the opportunities provided were not good. The working conditions were awful. If one decides to opt for this institution, never expect an on-campus placement.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good. But it is only up to first two or three-semesters. It is a sheer eyewash to the parents. No doubt the institution has machinery and all in workshops and laboratories, yet they never worked. Initially, the institution was so overwhelming and good, but all the drawbacks came as setbacks as time passed.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are helpful. But those helping hands are limited in the institutions. In a class, most of the times, it is a student clearing doubts of a teacher rather than a teacher doing his job. Relevance in a course in hard to find, and sometimes even the logic.

These four years in this college changed my life forever.
Placements: Only 30% of the students from our course got placed. The highest salary package offered in our course was 5.5 LPA and the lowest salary package offered was 2.2 LPA. 3 Top recruiting companies for our course are Manhattan Associates, Itenic Solutions, etc. The top role offered in our course is a cloud engineer. Almost 100% of the students got internships from our course.
Infrastructure: Facilities in our college are moderate. There is no Wi-Fi facility in our college, but the library is very good. The library has many kinds of books, and the classrooms are also very good. Facilities provided in the hostel are very good. The canteen is also very good.
Faculty: Teachers here are very well qualified. They have degrees like PhD and the M.Tech, and they are very helpful to students. They are very knowledgeable, and the teaching quality of the teachers is very good. The course curriculum is very good because it provided me with practical knowledge of computer engineering. It course also makes students industry-ready.
Other: I chose this course because I like to code. The best about our course is it provides practical knowledge of computer engineering. New programming languages like Python and Kotlin should be introduced in our course. Every year a fest is organised in our college. Scholarships are offered to both boys and girls in our college.

My four years of college changed my life forever. It taught me important things in my life.
Placements: My batch is 2011-2015, and my course in Mechanical Engineering. In my class, there are 50 students, and none of the students got placed because all have made up their mind to go to higher studies or for banking exams. The highest package offered was 2.5 LPA, and the lowest package was 2 LPA. Our Recruiting companies are Indian Army etc. The top role offered as a Software Engineer. The highest salary package offered in my course was 2.5 LPA, and the lowest package was 2 LPA. Almost 50 students get an internship in companies like Tata Motors, NHPC.
Infrastructure: In our college, there are many facilities available like huge Labs, Library which contains all the books of all the Engineering streams. In our hostel, the food is very good, and the staff is also very good. Medical facilities are also available in my college. And there are many grounds available for many types of games.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, especially teacher like Mr Rajeev Sir is very good. They take care of all the students very well. He is very well educated, and he has done his M.Tech from IIT Roorkee. He speaks very well to all the employees of the college, even if it is a peon. My course is not very Industry relevant because we do BE course. BE course don't have updated syllabus like B.Tech.
Other: I chose this course because I love Mechanical Engineering very much. And from my childhood, I love to play with machines. I think the updated course of BE will improve the skills of the students and they will be industry-ready. In our college, the fest is held. In our college, Wi-Fi is also available, and the scholarship is given to Sikh students. In my college, the debate competition always held twice in a year.

B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2014

Placement record was bad.
Placements: I started my college in 2010, that time the placement record was good. My many known seniors got placed in reputated companies. Some mechanical students were placed in Indian Army through university entry scheme. After that the graph of placement goes down. When I get passout in 2014, the placement was very low. Only 3-4% students get placed that is also only IT and CSE students. The placement cell performance was very below. So could not expect placement from college. Yes I thing is that after completion of graduation u can prefer UDAAN scheme by Jammu & Kashmir government. And only for Jammu & Kashmir students. That was only the plus point.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure was good. Separate buildings for separate branches. Wi-Fi facility available. Library building was quite big with two floors and almost every book available for engineering student. There is also nescafe and local canteen in the college. There is no hostel in the college but you can find good rooms near the college area provided by locals. PG facility was also available there. Overall the college campus building was good.
Faculty: Faculty was good. Teachers were very helpful. Quality of education was good as many experienced faculty were recruited. Each branch have 60 students. Separate buildings for workshop and practical works with very experienced teachers. Curriculum of the college was as per AICTE and Jammu university. Too much theory in the curriculum and very minimum practical knowledge.
Other: Campus surrounding was quite good as it is 4 km from main road. Not very crowded area. College provided bus facility for students from all major stops. In our time no fest was organised but nowadays yearly fest was organised by college. Small events happened in the college.
