The Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EL.Ed.) is a programme to enhance the teaching skills and competency of inexperienced primary school teachers in India. It is delivered by the Academic Department of the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) as per the direction of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). The training programme has been developed in collaboration with other agencies that work actively in the education field. The D.EL.Ed. programme tenure is of two years and is meant for untrained teachers who are currently employed. It is conducted via classroom training or Open Distance Learning (ODL).
