What is GATE?
GATE is the short form of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. It is a national-level examination that is jointly conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.

The GATE paper consists of a total of 65 questions. Check below for the GATE exam pattern. - The GATE Questions paper consists of two sections, namely General Aptitude (GA) (15 marks) and the subject-specific GATE paper (85 marks). - The General Aptitude (GA) section consists of 10 questions. 1 to 5 questions are worth 1 mark each, and the rest, 6 to 10, are worth 2 marks each. - The GATE paper subject-specific section consists of 55 questions, of which 1 to 25 are of 1 mark each and questions from 26 to 55 are of 2 marks each. - Here to be noted that, questions that are not attempted will result in zero marks. The application process comprises various stages like registration, filling out the application form, uploading required documents, fee payment and final submission. IIT Kanpur has released the GATE 2023 syllabus. The syllabus incorporates lessons and their topics that are vital for the examination. The syllabus will be different for all the subjects except the syllabus of the General Aptitude (GA) section as it is common for all papers. Q: What type of questions are asked in GATE examination?
The GATE 2025 is a computer-based test conducted for 30 subjects in different parts of India. The GATE examination lasts three years, comprising 65 questions for 100 marks.
The GATE question paper 2025 comprises questions in the following format -
Multiple Choice Question (MCQ), one out of four options is correct
Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), where multiple options out of four are correct
Numerical Answers Type (NAT, where the answer must be keyed using a virtual keypad

The authorities have released the GATE 2025 exam pattern along with the GATE 2025 official brochure. Candidates can check the GATE exam pattern on the official website. The GATE 2025 exam will last 3 hours. The question paper contains 65 questions. In the General Aptitude section, questions from 6 to 10 are worth 2 marks each. Also, in the GATE subject-specific section, questions from 26 to 55 are worth 2 marks each. In the papers bearing the codes AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT, PI TF and XE, the General Aptitude and Engineering Mathematics will carry around 28% of the total marks and the remaining 72% of the total marks is devoted to the subject of the paper. In the papers bearing the codes AR, CY, EY, GG, M.A. PH, XH and XL, the General Aptitude section will carry 15% of the total marks and the remaining 85% of the total marks is devoted to the subject of the paper. Since a candidate is allowed to appear in two papers (only approved set) of the 30 papers for which the GATE 2025 will be conducted, they have to carefully make a choice of the papers they wish to write. GATE 2023 Admit Card

GATE 2023 Answer Key
The answer key will be released after a few days of the conclusion of the exam. Using the GATE 2023 answer key, candidates will be able to anticipate their marks, rank and score. First, the exam conducting body will release the provisional answer key. Candidates will be able to challenge it in case of any objection against any answers within the stipulated time. Then GATE 2023 final answer key will be released after resolving the objections (if any) along with the result.
GATE 2023 Result
GATE 2023 result will be announced on March 16, 2023. Candidates will be able to download it online. They will require their login credentials to check the result. The result shall incorporate details like the candidate’s name, roll number, marks obtained, rank secured, etc. The exam authority will not share the result through any medium other than online.
