JEE Advanced 2025: The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur has announced JEE Advanced 2025 exam date. JEE Advanced exam will be held on May 18, 2025. Paper 1 will be held from 9 am to 12 noon and paper 2 will be held from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The JEE Advanced 2025 registration date and other details are expected to be released soon. The JEE Advanced 2025 application form is anticipated to be out in April 2025.

The JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility criteria have been rolled back to twice in two consecutive years from thrice in three consecutive years. IIT Kanpur has officially launched the official website of JEE Advanced 2025, jeeadv.ac.in and has updated the JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility criteria and JEE Advanced 2025 syllabus on the website. The syllabus remains the same as last year with no changes.

The Indian candidates who will qualify for the JEE Main 2025 cutoff for JEE Advanced 2025 can register for the exam. The Top 2.5 lakh candidates of JEE Main 2025 will be allowed to participate in JEE Advanced 2025. On the other hand, foreign nationals do not need to qualify JEE Main and can directly register for the IIT JEE Advanced exam. However, candidates of all nationalities must have passed class 12 boards in 2024 or 2025 to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025. The JEE Advanced 2025 exam will be held in CBT mode across centres in India and abroad. JEE Advanced is the second qualifying exam for IIT admissions, the first being JEE Main.  JEE Advanced exam has two papers, each containing three sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. Candidates must refer to the JEE Advanced syllabus 2025 and JEE Advanced previous year question papers to prepare for the exam.

To be eligible for admission to the IITs, candidates must attempt both papers 1 and 2 of the exam. What is New in JEE Advanced 2025?

IIT Kanpur has announced one major change in JEE Advanced 2025:

  • On November 18, IIT Kanpur announced the restoration of the old JEE Advanced attempt limit, which is twice in two consecutive years. Read the official press release for JEE Advanced eligibility restoration

What is JEE Advanced?

JEE Advanced is the second-stage test (after JEE Main) for aspiring IIT students. Remember, only the top 2.5 lakh performers in JEE Main get to challenge JEE Advanced. It's your doorway to the prestigious IITs. The exam is conducted annually by one of the 7 IITs or IISc Bangalore in CBT mode, under the aegis of the Joint Admission Board (JAB).

JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates can check their eligibility for appearing in JEE Advanced 2025 below. There are 5 criteria:

#1. JEE Main 2025 scores

Candidates should be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in the BE/BTech Paper of JEE (Main) 2025. Last year, as many as 250284 candidates passed JEE Mains to appear for JEE Advanced. Check the table below:

#2. Age limit

Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 2000. Five years of age relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates, i.e. these candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1995.

#3. Number of attempts

A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in two consecutive years. The candidates who have appeared for JEE Advanced 2024 for the first time, can also appear for JEE Advanced 2025. Also, the candidates who will appear for JEE Advanced 2025 for the first time can participate in JEE Advanced 2026. Candidates who took JEE Advanced in 2023 or earlier cannot appear in JEE Advanced 2025.

#4. Appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination

Candidates who passed Class 12 in 2024 or 2025 are eligible for JEE Advanced 2025.

Candidates who appeared in Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in 2023 or earlier, are NOT eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2025, irrespective of the combination of subjects attempted/offered.

#5. Earlier admission at IITs

A candidate should NOT have been admitted to an IIT irrespective of whether or not the candidate continued in the program OR accepted an IIT seat by reporting “online” / at a “reporting centre” in the past.

Change in JEE Advanced eligibility: OCI/PIO card holders who have secured OCI/PIO card before 04.03.2021, are considered as Indian nationals for seat allocation to IITs.

JEE Advanced 2025 Application Form

Only those candidates who secure JEE Main 2025 rank among the top 2.5 lakh candidates are eligible to fill the JEE Advanced application form. The application process is online and the form is available only on the official website. 

  • As the first step, every student needs to register through the official website by providing their JEE Main 2025 roll number, password, and security pin.
  • As the second step, students have to enter various personal details like their name, parents’ name, communication details, address details etc. in the specific columns of the JEE Advanced 2025 application form. The details entered in the application form must be accurate as the incorrect details may lead to the cancellation of candidature at later stages.
  • Students must also enter their choices of exam centres while filling out the application form.
  • Apart from the details, students will also need to upload scanned images of the documents needed.
  • After submitting all the details, students must take multiple printouts of the final application form for future requirements

Candidates will have to upload scanned documents in the online form. The required documents are given below:

  1. Class X certificate if the date of birth is mentioned in it or the birth certificate.
  2. Class XII (or equivalent examination) certificate
  3. Class XII (or equivalent examination) certificate
  4. If the candidate’s name is not the same as in the Class X certificate, a gazette notification showing the change of name. 
  5. Caste certificates as needed.

JEE Advanced 2025 mock test is available on the official website. There are 2 mock tests available for the exam from last year - Mock test 1 and Mock test 2. JEE Advanced 2025 Exam Pattern

  • Mode of the exam: The examination will be conducted ONLY in the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.
  • Number of papers: JEE (Advanced) 2025 will consist of two question papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2 of three hours duration each. Both papers are compulsory.

Below are some of the JEE Advamced 2025 preparation tips that students must follow to score well in the exam:

  • Students must start their JEE Advanced preparation early. It will help them to complete the syllabus timely, clear doubts, revise it thoroughly and appear for the mock tests.
  • Next, prepare a suitable timetable and stick to it throughout the preparation. Try to cover the entire syllabus.

JEE Advanced 2025 Exam Centres

The JEE Advanced 2025 exam centres are to be placed across various cities in India and abroad. Candidates shall be allowed to choose the test cities of their choice and preference while filling out the online form. JEE Advanced exam centres are divided into seven zones namely, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Bombay, IIT, Kharagpur, IT Roorkee, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Madras. Candidates will be asked to choose their zone basis their preference, at the time of filling out the JEE Advanced 2025 application form. The centre will be allotted to the chosen centres by the candidates. Details of the centre like the address, name, reporting time, etc will be available with the JEE Advanced 2025 admit card.

JEE Advanced 2025 Admit Card

Candidates can access the admit card under their respective JEE Advanced 2025 login. Candidates who successfully register for JEE Advanced 2025 by paying the application fee, are issued the JEE Advanced admit card 2025. The test centre is allotted via the admit card only. 

On the day of the exam, candidates must carry a printed copy of the downloaded admit card and their valid original photo identity card, any one of the following:

  • Aadhaar Card
  • School/College/Institute ID
  • Driving License
  • Voter ID
  • Passport
  • PAN Card
  • Notarized Certificate with photograph

Only candidates having valid admit cards and photo identity cards are allowed to write the examination. Only pens, pencils, drinking water in a transparent bottle, a downloaded admit card and an original photo identity card are allowed to be taken inside the examination hall.

JEE Advanced 2025 Answer Key and Response Sheet

The provisional JEE Advanced 2025 answer keys for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 are displayed on the online portal. After the display of provisional answer keys, the candidates may submit their challenges, if any, on the JEE Advanced 2024 candidate portal. The final answer keys are displayed on the website, after considering the candidates’ challenges. The marks will be awarded following the final answer key.

The responses of the candidates who have appeared for BOTH Paper 1 and Paper 2, recorded during the exam, will be available for viewing, downloading and printing from the JEE advanced portal. JEE Advanced 2025 response sheet will have the answers marked by the candidates on the exam day.

JEE Advanced 2025 Result

JEE Advanced 2025 result is announced online. Candidates have to login to check their scores and download the scorecard. Text messages will also be sent to the candidates to their registered mobile numbers. Individual rank cards will not be sent to candidates.

The marks obtained by a candidate in Physics in JEE Advanced 2025 will be equal to the marks scored in the Physics part of Paper 1 plus the marks scored in the Physics part of Paper 2. Marks obtained in Chemistry and Mathematics will be calculated in the same way. The aggregate marks obtained by a candidate in JEE (Advanced) 2025 will be the sum of the marks awarded to the candidate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. A candidate is said to have qualified in JEE (Advanced) if they secure the minimum percentage of marks in each subject and the aggregate, as per the respective category.

Ranklist: Rank lists are prepared based on the aggregate marks in JEE (Advanced) 2025. Only candidates who appear for BOTH Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be considered for ranking. There will be no waiting list for ranking.

JEE Advanced 2025 Counselling - JoSAA

The seats across IITs, NITs, IIITs and other Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) will be offered and allocated through a common process by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA), to be held in online mode. Candidates who secured a rank in JEE (Advanced) 2025 are eligible to participate in the Joint Seat Allocation process. JoSAA is held online only. All the candidates who are eligible for admission will have to participate in the joint seat allocation process by filling in their preferred choices of courses and institutes.

JEE Advanced Conducting IITs

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced is conducted by one of the seven zonal Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), namely IIT Roorkee, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, and IIT Guwahati, on a round-robin basis. The IITs are arranged in a rational order to conduct the exam, and the rotation is usually from the top to the bottom of the list, starting again at the top of the list, and so on. The exam is guided by the Joint Admission Board (JAB). This rotation system is essentially a way to ensure fair distribution of exam conduction responsibility among the seven zonal IITs.

The BArch program is available at IIT (BHU) Varanasi, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Roorkee only. Candidates desirous of joining the BArch (Architecture) program will have to pass the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT). Only those candidates who have qualified in JEE (Advanced) 2025 are eligible to appear in AAT 2025. AAT will be conducted at all IITs. No separate admit card will be issued for AAT. The downloaded admit card of JEE (Advanced) 2025 has to be printed and produced in the AAT examination hall, along with the original photo identity card.

Candidates must register online at the JEE (Advanced) 2025 online portal for AAT. The test will consist of one paper of three hours duration in the English language only. Candidates should bring their own drawing and colouring aids.  The results of AAT will be declared on the JEE (Advanced) 2025 online portal.
