Q:   Is it mandatory to take LPT for an RBI Assistant even if you had the local language in your 10th?

A:
Yes, even if you studied the local language in 10th grade, you must take LPT to get selected as an RBI Assistant. The Language Proficiency Test is conducted after the main exam for RBI assistants. Once you clear the main exam, you need to appear in LPT on the required date. Usually, basic grammar, vocabulary, and reading-based questions in the local language of the RBI office for which one has applied are asked in this test. The purpose of the LPT is to determine whether the selected candidate will be comfortable working with the locals in the region. For example, you need to pass the Gujrati LPT to be posted in the Ahmedabad region. It is a mandatory test for all aspirants, regardless of their medium of study.

The RBI Local Language Test (LPT) is a qualifying examination conducted by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for candidates who have cleared the RBI Assistant Main Examination.
