RRB NTPC Exam Analysis 2024: Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) conduct the different stages of RRB NTPC exam online and in multiple shifts. Q:   What is RRB NTPC syllabus?

The Railway Recruitment Board prescribes RRB NTPC syllabus for CBT 1 and 2. The syllabus is mentioned in the official recruitment notification. The exam is conducted to select candidates for various posts such as Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Trains Clerk, Station Master, etc in the Indian Railways. It is highly competitive exam and the knowledge of RRB NTPC syllabus is important to crack the exam. The syllabus of RRB NTPC highlights the topics that candidates need to cover for the exam. RRB NTPC syllabus includes topics and sub-topics from three subjects-General Intelligence & Reasoning, Mathematics, and General Awareness. RRB NTPC syllabus for different subjects is given below:

  • Mathematics: Data Interpretation, Profit, Loss & Discount, Speed, Time & Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Geometry, Time and Work, Percentage, etc.

Q:   What is the important part of RRB NTPC General Knowledge syllabus, from where the maximum number of questions are asked?

For General Knowledge section of RRB NTPC you need to cover Current Events of National and International Importance, Indian Literature, History, Polity, Geography, Economics, etc. The weightage given to this section in CBT 1 is 40 and in CBT 2 is 50. For RRB NTPC General Science and General Awareness, you can refer to the Lucent General Science and Lucent GK books. Using RRB NTPC syllabus, candidates can prepare for the exam in the following manner:

  •  At the beginning of the preparation, carefully read the entire RRB NTPC syllabus to get an idea of the topics to cover for the exam
  • Before starting a chapter make a list of topics prescribed in RRB NTPC syllabus so that candidates do not waste time learning the irrelevant topics
  • Having a clear understanding of the syllabus and weightage given to various sections will help to decide how much time to dedicate to each section
  • Use syllabus to get an idea of the important topics

RRB NTPC Exam Pattern 2024

RRB NTPC exam pattern is such that it comprises several stages such as first stage CBT 1, second stage CBT, Typing Skill Test/Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) (as per post), and Document Verification/Medical examination. The sections of the first stage and second stage CBT exams are the same. Questions in both the stages are asked from General Awareness, Mathematics and General Intelligence and Reasoning. All questions asked in the first stage and the second stage CBT exams are objective-type.

The total marks allotted to the first stage CBT are 100, while it is 120 for the second stage CBT. There is a negative marking of 1/3 for wrong answers. Candidates qualifying the second stage CBT are called for CBAT/Typing Skill Test (as per the post). Based on the performance of candidates in the second stage CBT only and in both second stage CBT and CBAT/Typing Skill Test (as applicable), candidates are called for Document Verification/Medical Exam as per merit. The appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing the requisite medical examination.

The overall paper of RRB NTPC CBT 1 exam was moderate in terms of difficulty level. The General Awareness section was moderate, while General Intelligence and Reasoning sections were easy. RRB NTPC CBT 2 Exam Analysis 2022 for Level 2, 3 and 5

The overall difficulty level of RRB NTPC exam analysis was moderate to difficult. Students had said that the difficulty level of the CBT 2 for level 2, 3 and 5 was tough compared to the exam held for Level 4 and 5. Current Affairs questions were asked from 2021 events. An attempt of 85-90 questions is considered as good attempt. 

The overall difficulty level of the question paper for level 4 and 6 was moderate. The difficulty level of the General Awareness, General Intelligence and Reasoning and Maths sections was moderate. The current affairs questions asked in the stage 2 exam were based on the national and international events that took place in 2021. Some of the questions asked in the GK are Badrakali Temple, 69 Grandmaster of India, Champaran Satyagraha, IPPC full form, IPPC and many more. 

Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) had conducted RRB NTPC CBT 2 2022 from June 12 to 17 for candidates who had qualified the CBT 1 exam under the pay level 2, 3 and 5.

RRB NTPC CBAT Exam Analysis 2022

RRB NTPC exam pattern for CBAT is such that it comprises five to six test batteries as per the posts. The number of questions in each test battery was different. The questions and answer options are in English and Hindi. The duration of the test was 71 minutes. Candidates are required to secure minimum T-score of 42 marks to qualify this test. There is no negative marking in CBAT. Candidates qualifying the CBAT are called for document verification. To call candidates for document verification, 70 per cent weightage will be given to RRB NTPC CBT 2 and 30 per cent to CBAT.

  • The overall difficulty level of the CBAT exam was moderate
  • The answer options given in certain test batteries were too long and students faced problem in scrolling the options
  • The mouse was not working properly and candidates had to use the arrow button to move up and down to check the answer option
  • Since less time was allotted to certain test batteries, students faced time crunch
