You must be very clear with the kind of jobs you want. Japan, no doubt, is a top country for mechanical engineers. Knowledge of Japanese language will be a must. Instead of a course, you should gain some work experience of at least a year or two and apply for jobs in Japan or any foreign country. Job related training programs are always available later. Japanese language is one of the popular languages in the world. Many people are fascinated by Japanese people, culture and innovations. Here are some features of Japanese language that makes Japanese language different from other languages in the world:

·       Orthography: Japanese language is written in a combination of three scripts unlike other major world languages that are based on a single script.

·       Accent and pronunciation: Compared to other languages the sounds in Japanese language are uncomplicated and simple. In Japanese words, the emphasis is on one syllable that is pronounced prominently compared to other syllables.

·       Verbs: Most languages have verbs based on tenses. Japanese language has additional verbs based on varying degrees of politeness.

·       Courteousness: There are different words and verbs in Japanese language that can be used for expressing respect in various degree.

·       Particles: There are 188 Japanese particles which are short words that hold the potential to change the meaning of the sentence.

Learning Kana (Hiragana and Katakana) is an excellent first step and can be very rewarding when simple Japanese phrases and writing especially in pop culture suddenly become readable. But I know how this will pan out. Finding a Hiragana/Katakana chart on Google and then trying to memorize the characters purely from rote and practice-and it will be frustrating, and neither effective nor enjoyable.

In my early days of Japanese language mania back in middle and high school, I attempted to learn kana from these charts on at least 4 different occasions over 4-to 5 years; but despite Samurai-style pain and perseverance, I never succeeded beyond being able to write them on demand-I could never recognize them quickly enough for practical use. I only became a fairly effective Japanese speaker and writer after 2-3 years of incredibly intensive college-level study and a short stint in Japan.
