CAT 2021 registrations

CAT 2021 registration process began on August 5 and ended on September 22. The CAT registration was scheduled to end on September 15 but the deadline was extended till September 22, 5:00 PM.

lIike every year, the process of registration for CAT 2021 exam was online where in the candidates had to fill an online application form and pay Rs 2,200 as exam fee. Any candidate who has completed graduation with 50 per cent aggregate was eligible apply for CAT exam. Final year graduation candidates could also apply.

CAT Registration Process 2021

CAT registration process 2021 includes three steps:

  1. Online registration
  2. Filling up of CAT 2021 application form
  3. Payment of fees

CAT 2021 Registration:

To register for CAT exam, the candidates have to follow the steps given below.

  • Open the CAT 2021 website in a new window (iimcat.ac.in)
  • Click on New Candidate Registration
  • Enter name, date of birth, email ID, phone number and nationality
  • Click to generate OTP (one time password)
  • The OTP will be sent in your inbox
  • Verify your account by entering the OTP in the given field
  • Upon verification, the candidate will receive their CAT 2021 user ID and password

  • Log on to the official CAT 2021 website using the user ID and password
  • Fill in relevant details in all six sections of the CAT form: personal details, academics, work experience, programmes, test city and fee payment
  • Upload scanned copies of passport sized photo and signature in the prescribed format and size
  • Review the CAT application form and click on submit to move to payment page

  • The photo should be with white background
  • The photo should not be older than six months
  • The photo should be within 30mm X 45mm dimension and in .jpg or .jpeg format.
  • The photo should not be less than 150 px/inch in resolution

  • The signature should be within dimension of 80mm X 35mm
  • The signature should be clear and on white background

NC-OBC/SC/ST Certificate

  • Download the category certificate form from CAT website
  • Fill the form, self-attest it and upload as PDF document

PwD Certificate

  • Download the PwD category certificate form from CAT website
  • Fill the form, self-attest it and upload as PDF document

CAT fee payment:

Candidates can pay CAT fees online through debit card/credit card and net banking.  The candidates are advised to download the fee acknowledgement slip for future reference.

How to Select CAT Test Cities in Application Form?

For allotment of CAT test centre, the candidates are given the option to select the city of their choice in the registration cum application form. For CAT 2021, the candidates can select up to six cities where they wish to take the exam. The examination authority will allot the test centre in the city of candidate’s preference.

CAT Test Centres: Key Points

  • CAT 2021 will be conducted in 159 cities across India. Candidates have to select six cities in order of preference from one to six.
  • CAT test city and centre will be allotted basis availability of seats and the right to allot or cancel a test centres remains with the exam conducting body.
  • Cities once selected cannot be changed. The candidates will have to make arrangement for stay in the test city on their own.
  • The CAT exam centre venue will be mentioned on the CAT admit card only.

CAT Form Correction

The examination authorities provide candidates a chance to edit their CAT application forms after the registration process concludes. The window to edit application forms will be opened for three to four days during which candidates could edit a few fields such as photo, signature and test city preference selected and upload a new photo.

Q: What are the CAT 2021 registration process dates?

A: CAT 2021 registration process began on August 4 and ended on September 22. Earlier, the last date was September 15 but it has been extended for a week.

Q: What is the minimum eligibility for CAT exam?

A: The minimum eligibility criteria for CAT is graduation with minimum 50 per cent aggregate or equivalent. Final year candidates are also eligible to appear for CAT.

Q: How many IIMs can I select in the CAT form for WAT-PI shortlisting?

A: Each candidate can select any number of IIMs in the CAT form for Written Ability Test and Personal Interview shortlisting. Colleges selectted in the form, will receive your CAT score for shortlisting.

Q: What is the CAT application fee? Can I pay it online?

A: CAT application fee for General category students in Rs 2,200 and for SC/ST candidates it is Rs 1,100. The fees has been increased this year by 10 per cent.

Q: Is CAT application fee refundable?

A: No, the CAT application fee is non-refundable. Candidate cannot apply for fee refund and there is no policy of CAT fee refund under any circumstances.

Q:  If I make a mistake in CAT application form, can I correct it after submission?

A: After submission, CAT forms can be edited only through form correction process which is of two-three days duration. Only certain details mentioned in the form can be edited. Thus, it is better to submit error free form in the first attempt.

Q: Do I need to upload any document along with CAT application form?

A: Yes, the candidates have to upload Caste/PwD certificate (if applicable), a passport size photograph and scanned signature along with the CAT application form.
