Those who are already preparing for IIFT exam 2024, they should find themselves in a good place by November end, having completed the syllabus. They need to now focus on mock test practice and revision.
- Out of 30 days, spend 20 days on practicing IIFT mock tests, self-assessment and improvement
- Solving one full-length mock test daily may get taxing. The moment you face a mental block, stop and relax. It is not mandatory to complete 20 mock tests. One can practice less number of mocks too. The key is to gain confidence, speed and accuracy. If you can achieve these by solving 15 mock tests, you need not push yourself to solve 20.
- Focus on the exam pattern. The IIFT question paper has 110 questions, out of which VARC has maximum weightage of 35 questions. DILR has 30 questions, QA has 25 questions and GK has 20 questions. Even though, QA has lesser number of questions in IIFT as compared to other MBA entrance exams, it is often the toughest section of the question paper and there is negative marking (1/3rd of the marks allotted). So, don’t be ill-prepared for Quants.
- Given below is the table indicating sectional weightage of the IIFT question paper:

- Start preparing for the exam day. Devise a plan to approach the question paper. There is no sectional time limit in IIFT, so you will have to time yourself. Practice mock tests keeping this aspect in mind. Allot certain time durairon to every section and don’t over step it. This will prepare you to complete the actual test within the time limit.
- The last month before IIFT exam is also the time by when you need to develop the skill of choosing questions that you can solve accurately. IIFT is a speed-based test and has negative marking. Thus, choosing the right question is critical for good sectional as well as overall scores.
- GK section has the least weightage and requires only memorizing important current affairs and static GK topics. This section should be taken up in the end, i.e. after preparation and revision of Quantitative Aptitude, VARC and DILR.
- For Quantitative Aptitude, develop the ability of mental calculation by practicing Vedic Maths. While Quantitative Aptitude section is calculation based, DILR section is logic based. So, you can crack DILR only through practice of a variety of questions.
- VARC section of IIFT is of moderate difficulty. The Reading Comprehension passages are fact based and questions are direct. Read the questions before the passage. It will help you identify sections in which solutions are hidden.
