KMAT exam analysis 2024: The Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT) is conducted for admission to top management institutes in the state of Karnataka. Karnataka Post Graduate Private Colleges Association (KPPGCA) conducts KMAT exam every year for MBA and MCA courses. KMAT 2024 was conducted in the remote online proctored mode on September 22, 2024. Q:   What is the KMAT exam duration?

A:

The KMAT exam is held for two hours or 120 minutes. There is only one slot for the KMAT exam. KMAT exam does not have any sectional time limit. This means, that the candidates can take the KMAT exam according to their preference and can switch between sections and questions as per their need. There is no provision of changing the exam slot. And there is no provision to apply for the same. Candidates have to take the KMAT exam from the safe environment of their homes as the exam will be conducted in the internet-based test mode and the candidates have to choose their slot for the exam day.

Q:   What is the marking scheme of KMAT?

A:

KMAT has a total of 120 questions. Each question carries one mark each for correct attempt and there is no negative markings. There is no deduction for unanswered questions. Therefore, the total marks of the KMAT exam are 120. Sectional marking scheme of the KMAT exam is as follows:

  • Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehensions: 40 (40X1)
  • Quantitative Aptitude: 40 (40X1)
  • Logical Reasoning: 40 (40X1)

KMAT is a time-based exam, hence candidates are required to complete all three sections within the allotted time. Candidates must note that they must answer the questions carefully and if they do not know the answer to a particular question, it is wise to leave that question and move to the next one.

KMAT Analysis 2024: Highlights

  • KMAT exam 2024 was conducted from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM for the MBA course and for the MCA course, the exam was conducted from 10 AM to 12 PM

A:

KMAT is conducted in internet-based test mode to offer equal opportunity to all the candidates.
- The test will be of 120 minutes (2 hours) duration
- The test will consist of only 120 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
- There will be 4 answer options for each question.
- The questions will not carry negative marking for any wrong answer.
- Marking scheme will award 1 mark for every correct answer

According to the KMAT exam pattern, the KMAT question paper was divided into three sections; i.e. Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Ability and Logical Reasoning. Check the table below to know the marking scheme in the KMAT question paper.

Just like other management entrance exams, the Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) section is divided into Reading Comprehension and Verbal Ability/English Usage. The KMAT exam assesses your language skills, vocabulary, grammar, and reading comprehension abilities. There are about four to five comprehension passages while the topics of English usage are as follows:

KMAT 2024 Analysis

The KMAT exam 2024 was conducted in the home-based remote proctored mode. The duration of the exam was two hours. Candidates were required to take the exam from their homes. Q:   What are the important topics of the Quantitative Ability section in the KMAT exam?

A:

Quantitative Aptitude section of the KMAT exam is one of the toughest sections of the three. The QA section tests the candidate's mathematical ablilties. One must be clear on the high school mathematic fundamentals and concepts in order to score well in this section. There will be a total of 40 questions in this section.

The important topics of this section include Numerical Calculations, Algebra, Modern Math, Geometry, Number System, Average, Ratio and Proportion, Percentage, Profit and Loss, Time, Speed and Distance, Mensuration, Quadratic Equation, Probability, Statistics, Pie Chart, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Common Graphs and Charts, Time and Work, etc. Candidates can use a rough paper for calculations after showing the same to the proctor. Candidates will be required to choose the correct option against the question. 

Consistency, speed and accuracy are the key players if one wishes to ace the Quantitative Aptitude section of the KMAT question paper. KMAT Previous Years' Analysis

KMAT 2023 Analysis

KMAT 2023 was conducted in the home-based online remote proctored mode. The KMAT question paper had three sections and each section had 40 questions. There were 120 questions overall and each question carried one mark. This year, the KMAT mock test was conducted on November 1 and November 2, before the release of the KMAT admit card for all the registered students. Taking the KMAT mock test was mandatory for all the candidates. The duration of the mock test was 30 minutes. Check below the section-wise KMAT Analysis 2023:

Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension: This section tested the candidates' abilities in terms of Grammar, Vocabulary and Reading skills. The questions were based on understanding the passages, choosing the appropriate words, phrases, expressions and other language skills. 

Logical Reasoning: This section has questions which test how quickly and accurately a candidate can think. The section had questions based on Family Tree, Arrangement, Numeric Grid, Puzzles, Venn Diagrams, etc.

Quantitative Ability: The questions were of matriculation standard. This section tested the numerical ability of the candidates. The section has questions based on Trigonometry, Geometry, Arithmetic, Algebra, Interpretation of Tables, Graphs and Charts, etc.

KMAT 2022 Analysis

KMAT 2022 was conducted in the home-based online remote proctored mode. The KMAT question paper had three sections and each section had 40 questions. There were 120 questions overall and each question carried one mark. This year, KMAT mock test was conducted from November 29 to November 30, before the release of the KMAT admit card for all the registered students. There were 120 questions carrying one mark each. There was no negative marking for incorrect answers. There were only multiple-choice questions. KMAT is one of the accepting exams for admission to Asian School of Business, Trivandrum. However, it is not mandatory. Candidates with a valid score in CAT or CMAT can also apply for admission. Besides, aspirants must also complete graduation with at least 50% aggregate for admission.
