Q: Â Is there any negative marking in KMAT exam?
No, the KMAT Karnataka exam does not have any negative markings. The KMAT exam is conducted in the remote online proctored mode to offer equal opportunity to all the candidates coming from different backgrounds. There are 120 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) which are to be solved within 120 minutes or two hours. Each question has four options and the students will be awarded one mark for each correct answer. To bring total transparency, merit will be based on raw scores and not on percentile based scores.
Q: Â How can I increase speed and accuracy to crack KMAT exam?
Increasing speed and accuracy in the KMAT exam is crucial because it's a timed test that requires you to answer a significant number of questions in a limited time frame. Here are some strategies to help you improve your speed and accuracy for the KMAT exam:
- Develop a time management strategy before the exam. Allocate a specific amount of time to each section based on the number of questions and your comfort level with the subject matter.
- Practice is the key to improving speed and accuracy. Regularly solve practice questions, mock tests, and previous years' question papers to get used to the format and types of questions.
- When you start a section, first answer the questions that you find easy and are confident about. This ensures that you secure those marks before spending more time on challenging questions.
- If you encounter a difficult question, don't spend too much time on it initially. Mark it for review and move on to the next question. Come back to the difficult ones if you have time left at the end.
- While speed is important, accuracy should not be compromised. It's better to answer fewer questions correctly than to answer more questions with errors. Avoid rushing through questions at the cost of accuracy.
- Keep an eye on the time during the exam. Wear a watch to help you monitor your progress and ensure you are on track.
Q: Â What is the structure of KMAT question paper?
The KMAT structure has remained unchanged since the past few years. KMAT exam will have 120 multiple-choice questions to be solved in 120 minutes. There is no negative marking in the KMAT exam and no marks will be deducted for questions not attempted. There will be three sections in the KMAT question paper, i.e. Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Aptitude. Each section of the KMAT question paper will have 40 multiple choice questions which will have four options each. One mark will be awarded to the candidates for each correct answer. The exam will be conducted in the remote-proctored mode. Before 2020, the exam was conducted in the paper-based test mode. But since the COVID-19 pandemic, the authorities changed the exam mode to internet-based test mode.
Q: Â What is the marking scheme of KMAT?
KMAT has a total of 120 questions. Each question carries one mark each for correct attempt and there is no negative markings. There is no deduction for unanswered questions. Therefore, the total marks of the KMAT exam are 120. Sectional marking scheme of the KMAT exam is as follows:
- Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehensions: 40 (40X1)
- Quantitative Aptitude: 40 (40X1)
- Logical Reasoning: 40 (40X1)
KMAT is a time-based exam, hence candidates are required to complete all three sections within the allotted time. Candidates must note that they must answer the questions carefully and if they do not know the answer to a particular question, it is wise to leave that question and move to the next one.
