NBEMS will start the FMGE June registration online in April 2025. The exam can be tentatively conducted in July 2025.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will release the application form for FMGE 2025 and notification tentatively in April 2025. The authorities will mention in the notice that FMGE registration 2025 can be filled by visiting the official website natboard.edu.in. 

All applicants who plan to appear in the FMGE exam are advised to check the FMGE eligibility criteria 2025 before filling out the form. The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) is a licensure exam conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in India. It is a gateway for Indian and overseas citizens who have completed their medical degrees abroad to practice medicine in India.

Q:   How many times can I attempt FMGE exam?

A:

Students who want to appear in Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) exam must note that this exam is a licensure examination for Indian citizens who completed their medical education abroad. 

This exam is conducted twice in a year one in June and other in December. Applicants need to fill the form seperately to appear in the exam.

Q:   What are the eligibility criteria for the FMGE?

A:

Students must note that eligibility criteria remain the same for both the sessions. 

FMGE Exam Eligibility Criteria
1- Foreign medical graduates must be a citizen of India or should be OCI (Overseas Citizens of India).
2- Candidates must possess a primary medical qualification from the recognised institution, which must be confirmed by the concerned Indian Embassy of that country.
3- Students must submit the requisite documents as evidence to prove that they have qualified for the final examination of Primary Medical examination on or before the specified date.

Q:   Can I pursue a master's degree from India if I don't clear FMGE?

A:
No, it is mandatory to clear FMGE if you have completed your undergraduate medical degree programme from outside India. However, candidates with an undergraduate medical degree from New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the United States of America or the United Kingdom, are exempted from FMGE. They need not to appear for FMGE exam for pursuing Masters in medical field. Candidates have to apply on the official website, NBE. Edu. In to register and submit application for the exam.

FMGE 2025 Application Form

The application process for FMGE 2025 is entirely online and is conducted through the official NBE website. Candidates are advised to carefully follow the guidelines and ensure all required documents are submitted within the stipulated timeline.

Steps to Fill the FMGE 2025 Application Form:

  1. Visit the official NBE website - natboard.edu.in
  2. Register with a valid email ID and mobile number.
  3. Fill out the application form with personal, academic, and contact details.
  4. Upload required documents such as a passport-size photograph, signature, and degree certificates.
  5. Pay the application fee online.
  6. Submit the application form and take a printout for future reference.

FMGE 2025 Application Fee:

The FMGE 2025 application fee is expected to be INR 6,195. This was the application fees for the last session. Candidates must pay the fee via net banking, debit card, or credit card.

FMGE 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria set by the NBE to appear for the FMGE 2025 exam. The key requirements are as follows:

Q:   How many marks are required to qualify FMGE licensing exam?

A:

The qualifying marks according to the FMGE exam pattern are 50% or more. Candidates need to score 150 marks or more to qualify FMGE 2024 exam. FMGE exam will be conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). 

Q:   Can I send someone else on my behalf to collect my FMGE Pass Certificate?

A:

No, it is mandatory for the candidate to be present when the FMGE Passing certificates are being issued. In the absence of the candidate, the authorities will not issue the Certificate. Hence applicants are advised to reach the Dwarka office address to collect the FMGE certificates withint time. 

Q:   How many attempts are permitted in FMGE?

A:
There are no restrictions on the number of attempts. If a candidate is unable to clear the examinations in June session, he/she can reappear in the December session. Qualifying the exam is mandatory criteria for those who have completed primary medical education outside India. They have to qualify the exam to practice in India. Candidates have to register online and submit application form for FMGE exam.

Q:   What are the career opportunities after passing FMGE exam?

A:

Medical students who want to make a career in MD/ MS/ Diploma after completing their MBBS from abroad needs to appear and qualify FMGE exam. 

Foreign Medical Graduate Exam (FMGE) is an important exam required to practice in India. The NBEMS conducts this exam twice a year in June and December. 

Q:   Can I apply for the FMGE exam without having MBBS degree?

A:

No, Students who want to appear & qualify FMGE exam must have a MBBS degree. FMGE exam is conducted for the students who completed their MBBS degree from abroad and they want to practise in India. Though there are certain countries like UK, USA, Austraila, Canada & New Zeland, students passed from these countries don't need to appear in FMGE exam to practise in India. 

Educational Qualification:

  1. The candidate must have completed their primary medical qualification from a recognized institution outside India.
  2. Candidates who have completed their undergraduate medical qualification from New Zealand, Australia, Canada, United States of America (USA), United Kingdom (UK) do not have to appear for FMGE for registration with MCI. 
  3. The degree must be listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools maintained by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Citizenship:

  • The applicant must be an Indian citizen or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).

Additional Requirements:

  • Candidates must provide proof of their medical qualification by submitting relevant documents, such as degree certificates and eligibility certificates issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or the National Medical Commission (NMC).

Attempts Allowed:

  • There is no limit on the number of attempts to appear in the FMGE exam.

FMGE 2025 Exam Pattern

The FMGE 2025 examination will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode in the English language only. According to the exam pattern of the FMGE exam, a candidate needs to score at least 50% marks in the examination to qualify. The nature of questions asked in the FMGE exam will be MCQs.
