Here are some important highlights of the FMGE exam analysis 2023:

As per the candidates who appeared for the exam 63% candidates found the exam to be moderately challenging, while 30% said that the exam was difficult. Only 7% of students found the exam to be easy level.

Q:   Is there any sectional time limit in the FMGE exam?

A:

As per the directive of NBE there is no sectional time limit to attempt different sections of the FMGE question paper. Candidates will get overall 5 hours to attempt 300 questions in the exam. Candidates can switch between the sections to attempt the questions. 

Q:   Has the FMGE exam pattern changed?

A:

No official announcement was made regarding the changes/modifications in the FMGE exam pattern for the upcoming exam cycle. In case any changes will be there, it will be updated for the aspirants. Applicants are advised to prepare for the exam as per the previous exam pattern of FMGE. 

Q:   Will there be negative marking in FMGE 2024?

A:

No, there shall be NO negative marking for the incorrect answers in FMGE 2024. The FMGE exam promotes candidates to attempt as many question as they can to enhance their probability to score high. A total of 300 questions will be asked in the exam. The exam will be held in English language only. 

In general, 45% of questions in the FMGE December 2023 exam were concept-based, while 35% questions were clinical. One-liner questions were reduced to 20% only. This paper was more aligned towards testing clinical knowledge and application-based questions of the aspirants.

  2. Anesthesia
  3. Anatomy
  4. Physiology
  5. Psychiatry 
  6. Pediatrics

Taking about the good attempts in the exam, 93% of candidates were able to answer the maximum number of questions (150-200), which means aspirants were able to attempt the entire question paper within the allotted time. According to 86% of students who took the exam, it was easy to finish within the allocated time. 

Q:   How many questions will be asked in FMGE exam?

A:

NBE released the FMGE exam pattern along with the official information brochure. A total of 300 questions will be asked in the exam. The question paper will be divided into two parts, 150 questions each. The questions will be multiple choice. Candidates will get 2.5 hours to solve each part. The exam will be held in English language only. The exam pattern comprises details such as mode, medium, total questions asked and their type, marking scheme etc. 

Coming over to the type of questions in the exam, 50% of difficult questions were easy but had confusing options. 30% of questions were based on difficult clinical scenarios. There were 20% new one-liner questions that were never asked or practiced before.

FMGE had launched a mock test on the official portal, natboard.edu.in for candidates to practice and get familiarized with the exam pattern and speed. According to 80% of students, the mock test proved to be helpful in strengthening their speed and accuracy.

Overall the FMGE December 2023 exam analysis shows that it was a moderately difficult exam and more oriented toward testing clinical knowledge. Continuous practice of time-management skills is critical to ace the exam. Candidates preparing to appear for the next attempt are advised to regularly practice MCQs and work on enhancing their conceptual knowledge along with clinical reasoning.

The cutoff marks are the minimum marks which applicants need to secure to pass the exam. There are various factors which determine the cutoff marks of FMGE exam. Since FMGE exam is conducted for a total of 300 marks hence applicants need to secure the minimum passing marks.

No, the exam centres are assigned by the exam conducting authorities after lots of debate & discussions hence one can not make a request to change the exam centre.

Applicants are advised to reach the exam centre on time, they are also advised to check the exam centre 1 day before the exam. Candidates reporting late or after the time mentioned in the admit card shall not be allowed to appear in the exam under any circumstances.
