How to Crack NEET 2024 on First Attempt?
Go through the tips and tricks given below to know the various methods to be followed in order to clear NEET on first attempt.
Know the chapter-wise weightages in the exam: While starting the preparation, it is important to know the NEET 2024 syllabus properly, along with the weightages of subject-wise topics. For this, it is important to undergo NEET analysis of the last year or previous years. With this, students can chalk out a plan on which topics to prepare for and which topics can be safely left out. Since the syllabus of NEET is quite vast, it is not possible for an aspirant to cover each and every topic. With the help of the analysis, students can easily estimate which are the important chapters that need to be prepared thoroughly.
Q: It is possible to crack NEET exam without coaching?
I will not say, it is impossible. It is possible, but you have work very hard and must give your 200% effort to crack these competitive exams. In my opinion, it is better to take coaching for NEET exam. Coaching makes your exam preparation easier. Sometimes, if you get lots of doubt then you can get it cleared by your tutor who has got the subject knowledge.
Students get individual attention at coaching institutes and they focus on learning and development of students as per their requirement. Coaching centers also teach you a lot of tips, tricks and time management that help you to crack NEET exam. But, you have to be careful in choosing a right and resourceful coaching center, as there are many fraud coaching centers that works for money and not for delivering knowledge to the students.

Assess your strengths and weaknesses: After completing the basic preparation, candidates must be aware of their strengths and weaknesses. It is also a critical aspect of preparation to keep one’s strengths and weaknesses in check. If any of the weak areas carry low weightage in the exam, then those topics can be safely eliminated. But if a weak area carries a high weightage then students should ensure that they dedicate more time to the weak areas and understand the reason. Improving weak areas depend on two factors, conceptual understanding and regular practice. With a combination of both, they should be able to improve their weaknesses. At the same time, aspirants should also revise their strong areas also so that they do not lose touch with the topics they are comfortable and confident in.

Get the right books and study materials: There is no dearth of NEET preparation books and study materials in the market. But hoarding all those books would be nothing but an example of the common proverb – too many cooks spoil the broth. Studying all the books on NEET preparation would only lead to information cramming and chaos. Ideally, students should first focus on completing their school textbooks and NCERT books as those are in tune with the NEET syllabus and question types. Apart from that, aspirants should study from their coaching institute books and modules. After that, if they are left with enough bandwidth, then they can refer to the other books for NEET preparation.

Prepare a systematic study plan: Discipline is one of the most important factors in cracking NEET on the first attempt. Students must prepare a timetable to accommodate their daily activities, with priority to NEET preparation. Students who are also preparing for the board exam should also balance both successfully. Ideally, students should spend six to eight hours preparing for NEET. Within this duration, candidates should focus on three aspects – learning, revision and practice. Just creating a timetable is not enough, it is also important to abide by it. Hence, it is crucial to stay focused and follow the systematic study plan to crack NEET on the first attempt.
Q: What is a good score in NEET?
In general, a score of 600+ is considered to be good for NEET which will ensure a high rank. However, given the high level of competition, if you wish to get admission to one of the top 10 colleges, then you must score above 700. But if you wish to get an MBBS seat and any of the decent medical colleges in India, then a score of 600+ is required. At the same time, a score of 550 or above may also fetch you an MBBS seat at a medical college towards the end of the counselling rounds. On the other hand, if you are aspiring to pursue a BDS or a B.Sc. Nursing, then a score above 500 should be able to fetch you a seat at a good Dental or Nursing colleges in India. Having said this, by if your score is lower than the marks mentioned above, you need not feel demoralised or demotivated. There are a lot of other medical specialisations or courses through NEET scores and you will always have a good option according to your score. Q: Which was the easiest section of the NEET 2023?
Q: Can I prepare for NEET in just one month?
Q: How do I prepare for the NEET from the very beginning without coaching?
Q: How to prepare for NEET exam and get a good rank?
Take ample mock tests: After completing the basic preparation, candidates should start taking NEET mock tests. After completing each section or subject, they should take sectional mock tests. Followed by this, they should start taking full-length mock tests at least three to four months before the exam. There are multiple advantages of taking mock tests. Not only does it test students’ preparation level but also helps them get accustomed to the exam-taking experience. It is also important to get the mock tests analysed after each test by their mentors or seniors to know the scopes of improvement.
Solve past years’ question papers: Solving previous years’ NEET question papers has a number of benefits. It gives them much-needed exposure to the question types and topics. In the upcoming NEET, it is expected that there will be some common questions from previous years. Solving past NEET question papers will also help students assess the topic-wise weightages.

Prepare a test-taking strategy: To crack NEET on the first attempt, it is important that candidates have a test-taking strategy in advance. Just going with the flow will not be enough to crack a competitive and tough exam like NEET. The test-taking strategy can be developed by taking regular mock tests. Ideally, one should start with their strongest subject followed by their weak areas in order of preference. The test-taking strategy also involves choosing the right questions, managing time and answering properly on the OMR sheet. While aspirants should first try multiple strategies before zeroing down to one, they should not be too rigid about it since, on exam day, they may have to change the strategy as per the situation.
Time management: NEET is an extremely time-bound exam. Candidates have to go through 200 questions and then attempt 180 questions in three hours. Without having a proper time management plan in time may be disastrous on the day of the exam. Hence, along with preparing a test-taking strategy, they should also focus on time management. Unless they plan a strategy to manage these three hours, test-takers may end up losing precious minutes and hamper their performance. According to experts, candidates should not spend more than two minutes on a question and in case they find it more time-consuming, they should leave it and move ahead. In case they have time, in the end, they should revisit the question and try to solve it. They should also leave some room for revision as there are chances of silly mistakes which can mar their performance.
Focus on health and fitness: Last but not least, NEET aspirants must take care of their health. They should not take their health for granted and ensure leading a healthy lifestyle. Along with studies, they should take out some time for physical fitness by exercising or playing certain sports, or at least go for regular walks. They must also take care of their diet to avoid falling sick. Aspirants should not avoid seeking medical health in case they feel even slightly unwell. After all, a healthy body and healthy mind is the source of a successful performance.
