NEET Syllabus Based on Class 11 and Class 12 Weightage

Till last year, NTA had segregated the NEET syllabus according to Class 11 and Class 12 chapters and topics. This year, as NMC has revised the NEET 2024 syllabus, there is no specific segregation of NEET 11 and 12 weightages. However, we bring the subject-wise chapters or topics for NEET Class 11 and Class 12.

Q:   What is the date of NEET 2024?

A:

NTA announced the NEET 2024 exam date on September 19, 2023. NEET 2024 exam was conducted on May 5. The result of NEET 2024 was declared on June 4, 2024. After the result declaration, several irregularities and anomalies were found in the result and the scoring system. Hence, NTA is reconducting NEET 2024 on June 23, 2024, for 1,563 candidates who were awarded grace marks. The result will be declared on June 30, 2024. The NEET 2024 counselling process for the 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats is likely to be conducted from July 6, 2024 onwards.

The NEET 2024 application process was conducted from February 9, 2024, to March 16, 2024. The last date of application was extended from March 9, by a week. The application and correction windows were reopened in April. While the NEET exam dates were scheduled in September and July a couple of years ago owing to the pandemic situation, it took a toll on the medical admission schedule. To bridge this gap, NTA conducted NEET in May last year. The trend is being continued for NEET 2024 as well.

Q:   When was NEET 2024 conducted?

A:

NEET 2024 was conducted on May 5, 2024, from 2 PM to 5.20 PM (IST). NTA conducted the exam in 571 cities across India and abroad. Around 20 lakh candidates appeared for the exam. The difficulty level of the exam was moderate to tough. NEET is a paper-pencil based test (PBT) consisting of a total of 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Out of this, candidates had to attempt 180 questions. The total marks of the exam is 720.

Q:   How much time will I get to solve each section of NEET 2025?

A:

Candidates will get 3 hours and 20 minutes to solve the entire question paper of NEET. They can divide the time between the NEET subjects or sections as per their convenience. There is no sectional time limit in the NEET exam pattern. According to the experts, candidates should keep around one hour for each subject and 20 minutes for revision. Candidates must prepare a fool proof time management strategy while taking mock tests. They must follow different approaches and then finalise on the most convenient one.

Q:   Has NTA removed any city from the NEET 2024 exam city list?

A:

Yes, NTA removed three cities from the NEET 2024 exam city list in India. These three cities are Malegaon in Maharashtra, Rairangpur in Odisha and Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh. However, since other cities have also been added in these states, candidates will be able to select a nearby city as per their convenience. Since NTA limits the state and city choice as per the present address, applicants need not think for long to select the right exam city choices.

Q:   Did NTA reconduct NEET 2024 exam?

A:

As per the Supreme Court hearing dated June 13, 2024, the Centre said that the scores of 1,563 candidates who were given grace marks, are cancelled. They were given an option to reappear for the exam which was conducted on June 23, 2024. The result of this test willl be declared by June 30, 2024. The result for those candidates who will not be appearing for the re-NEET 2024, will be considered for that of the May 5 exam, devoid of grace marks.

The NEET 2024 exam was conducted by NTA on May 5, 2024 in 571 cities across India and abroad. Incidents of wrong question paper medium distribution, paper leaks and proxy exam takers were reported in the media after the conduct of the exam. As of now, as many as 13 people have been arrested in allegations of paper leak. This led to unrest among the students and stakeholders and they are demanding for a retest. Moreover, after the declaration of the result, several anomalies were observed which again led to unrest among candidates and a demand for reNEET 2024 resurfaced. NTA formed a Grievance Redressal Committee which  reviewed the complaints submitted, and decided to reconduct the exam for 1,563 candidates.

Q:   What are the languages in which NEET will be conducted?

A:

NEET will be conducted in 13 languages. Till 2020, NEET was held in 11 languages. NTA increased the number of languages or medium to 13 from 2021 onwards. Malayalam and Punjabi are the latest additions. The list of languages are as follows:

  1. English
  2. Hindi
  3. Bengali
  4. Urdu
  5. Assamese
  6. Gujarati
  7. Marathi
  8. Odia
  9. Kannada
  10. Tamil
  11. Malayalam
  12. Punjabi
  13. Telugu.

Q:   Will marks be deducted for unanswered questions in NEET 2025?

A:

According to the NEET exam pattern, there will be no deduction of marks for unanswered questions. Such questions will not be taken into consideration while calculating the total marks of a candidate. Hence, if candidates are not sure about the answer of a question, it is better to leave it unattempted rather than doing a guess work, to avoid negative marking. Moreover, candidates will not get any marks for attempting extra questions in the Section B. Also, candidates are advised to revise the NEET exam sheet or OMR sheet thoroughly before submitting it to the invigilators.

Q:   How to manage the time for the last few days of NEET?

A:
Tips to manage the time for the last few days of NEET :- 1. Take stock of what is remaining. 2. Get accustomed to the new pattern. 3. Take fewer mock tests. 4. Zero down your exam - taking strategy. 5. Prepare a timetable. 6. Focus on charts / diagrams / revision notes. 7. Do not refer to any new book or resources now. 8. Bridge all possible gaps. 9. Visit the NTA website and credible platforms for information. 10. Stay motivated.

According to the NEET 2024 exam pattern, there will be 35 and 15 questions in Section A and Section B of Physics, Chemistry and Biology, out of which 10 questions have to be attempted in Section B. Hence, 45 questions are to be attempted in Physics and Chemistry and in Biology, 90 questions have to be attempted, between Zoology and Botany.
