On the day of the exam, the top coaching institutes across India released the unofficial NEET 2024 answer keys. Candidates could refer to those to calculate their estimated scores. Later, after the release of the NEET 2024 official answer keys by NTA, they could refer to the unofficial answer keys to verify and cross-check, and also decide whether to submit challenges. This article of Shiksha brings a detailed account of NEET 2024 answer keys released by NTA as well as coaching institutes. The NEET answer key 2024 varies for different sets of papers. Though questions asked in the NEET exam remained the same, the order in which questions will be asked will be different.

Q:   Where can I get NEET answer key from?

A:

NEET answer keys were released on the official website of NEET, exams.nta.ac.in/NEET and neet.ntaonline.in. For the provisional answer keys, candidates had to log in to the NEET website with their NEET 2024 application number, date of birth and Security Code. After that, they have to download their response sheets and the provisional answer keys. The final answer keys will be available on the NTA and the NEET website, which candidates can directly download, without having to log in. The final answer keys of NEET have been released on June 4, 2024 at the official website of the exam. Candidates and stakeholders can download the NEET 2024 final answer keys by NTA by clicking on the link and download it in PDF format.

Q:   When will NTA release the official answer key for NEET 2025?

A:

NTA will release the provisional NEET 2025 answer keys tentatively in the fourth week of May 2025, within a month of conducting the exam. Candidates will be given an opportunity to submit challenges or objections against the provisional answer keys within the next two to three days. After the submission of challenges, NTA expert committee will review the objections and release the final NEET answer keys tentatively in the first week of June 2025, a couple of days ahead of the release of the result. There will not be any opportunity to review or challenge the NEET final answer keys. The NEET 2025 result will be computed based on the NEET 2025 final answer keys.

Q:   Will NTA release NEET 2024 solutions along with answer keys?

A:

While NTA releases the NEET answer keys PDF, it does not release the detailed solutions or the answer-solving procedures and explanations. On the other hand, experts from coaching institutes release detailed NEET answer key solutions and candidates may refer to those to note the correct and effective way of solving a question. Hence, to understand if the answer solving methodology, test takers will not have any official source of reference, but would have to rely on the unofficial sources only.

NEET 2024 Answer Key - How to Calculate Scores?

Students can check the steps given below to learn how to calculate the NEET exam scores:

Step 1: Check the solutions provided in the NEET exam answer key.

Step 2: Applicants need to calculate the number of correct and incorrect answers.

Q:   How to solve paper and OMR answer sheet quickly of NEET? How to score more than 680 marks?

A:

To solve the NEET paper and OMR answer sheet quickly and score above 680 marks, follow these tips:

  1. Familiarise Yourself with the OMR Sheet: Understand the format and structure of the OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) answer sheet. Know how to correctly fill in the details such as your roll number, test booklet code, and question number.
  2. Time Management: Develop effective time management skills. During the exam, read the questions carefully, and if a particular question seems time-consuming, move on to the next one. Answer the easier questions first to maximise your attempt count.
  3. Practice with Mock Tests: Regularly practice solving mock tests and previous years' question papers under timed conditions. This will help you improve your speed and accuracy, get accustomed to the exam format, and understand which areas require more focus.
  4. Learn to Skip and Come Back: If you encounter a challenging question, avoid getting stuck on it for too long. Skip it and move on to the next one. You can always come back to it later if you have time remaining. This strategy ensures that you attempt as many questions as possible.
  5. Elimination Technique: Use the elimination method to rule out incorrect answer choices. Narrow down the options by eliminating the ones that are obviously wrong. This strategy increases your chances of selecting the correct answer, even if you are unsure.
  6. Focus on Conceptual Understanding: Instead of rote memorisation, focus on understanding the concepts and principles behind the topics. This will help you apply your knowledge to a wide range of questions and solve them efficiently.
  7. Improve Speed and Accuracy: Enhance your speed and accuracy through regular practice. Solve questions from different sources, and gradually increase your pace while maintaining accuracy. Time yourself during practice sessions to track your progress.
  8. Revise Important Topics: Identify the high-yielding topics that carry more weightage in the NEET exam. Allocate more time to revise and practice questions related to these topics. Strengthening your grasp on these areas will boost your overall score.
  9. Maintain Composure: Stay calm and composed during the exam. Nervousness can lead to careless mistakes. Take deep breaths, manage your time wisely, and focus on one question at a time.
  10. Analyse and Learn from Mistakes: After attempting mock tests or practice papers, analyse your performance. Identify the types of questions you consistently get wrong and the areas where you face difficulties. Work on strengthening those weak areas to minimise errors in the actual exam. Remember that achieving a high score requires consistent effort, dedicated practice, and a thorough understanding of the concepts. Stay focused, maintain a positive mindset, and believe in your abilities. Best of luck for your NEET exam!

Q:   Was there any change in the NEET 2024 final answer key?

A:

Yes, NTA announced that there was one question in the NEET 2024 question paper, which had two correct answer options. Hence, any candidate who had attempted that question and marked either of the answer options, have been given full marks. According to NTA, this year only one NEET answer key challenge was received which was validated. Based on the bonus marking, 44 candidates' scores turned out to be 720 out of 720, leading them to secure AIR 1.  However, during the Supreme Court hearing on NEET 2024 petitions, the apex court asked IIT Delhi professor's opinion on this question, and it was opined that the question had only one correct answer option. Accordingly, the bonus marks had to be revoked and candidates who marked any other option apart from the correct one, faced negative marking of one mark. Accordingly, NTA released the revised final NEET 2024 answer keys on July 26, 2024.

Q:   What are the benefits of NEET answer key?

A:

NEET answer key, be it the official, or unofficial one, helps candidates calculate their estimated score in the NEET exam attempted by them. By doing so, they will have a fair idea about their qualification chances and can plan or predict the future course of action. In case a candidate calculates a high score in the exam based on the NEET answer key, they may shortlist their choice of medical colleges with a high rank. On the other hand, if their estimated score appears to be low, and chances to get admission to their dream college seems to be low, then they can explore other alternatives in terms of course and colleges where they may pursue their higher education based on their NEET scores. Moreover, if they find a particular question or answer option doubtful, they also have the chance to file objection against it, which may lead to revision of the answer keys, and make the NEET score more accurate and fair.

Q:   How can I calculate the estimated score by utilising the NEET answer keys?

A:
Candidates can calculate their estimated score by adding four marks for each correct answer and deducting one mark for each wrong answer by comparing their NEET response sheets and answer keys. The detailed marking scheme is given below: +4 for each correct answer -1 for each wrong answer 0 marks for unattempted questions 0 marks for extra attempted questions in Section B.

Q:   Will NTA release a final NEET answer key?

A:

Yes, NTA releases the NEET final answer key PDF along with the result. The final answer keys are computed on the basis of the final review of the objections received against the NEET provisional answer keys. The final NEET answer keys will be the basis of the NEET result. Hence, unless NTA releases the NEET final answer key, the credibility and authenticity of the NEET result will remain questionable. Hence, it is a must for the exam authorities to release the NEET final answer keys.

Step 3: After this applicants need to multiply the total number of correct answers by 4 and wrong answers by 1.

Step 4: Now students need to calculate the marks by adding both correct and incorrect answers.

NEET 2024 Score = (4 x number of correct answers) - (1 x number of incorrect answers)

Note: Applicants should note that no marks will be awarded or deducted for the unattempted questions.

NEET 2024 Marking Scheme

According to the NEET exam marking scheme, the maximum number of marks for each question in the exam is four. Students will be awarded 4 marks for each correct answer while one mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
