NEET PG 2025 exam pattern: NBE will release NEET PG pattern 2025 along with the official information brochure. Last year NBE had introducted major changes in the pattern of NEET PG exam, i.e introduction of time bound sections. It means candidates will have to finish the questions of a particular section first and only after he/she exausts the allotted time of the particular section, he/she can move to other section. candidates will not be allowed to review the questions or modify their responses for a section after the completion of its allotted time. NEET PG 2025 exam will be held tentatively on June 15, 2025.

The exam pattern comprises the structure of the exam, number of questions, language options, exam duration, and the marking system. Candidates get an idea about NEET PG total marks through the exam pattern. Candidates should know about NEET PG pattern before starting their preparation. This helps them to make a better plans and strategy which will ultimately help them to score well in the the exam. According to existing NEET PG pattern, the test paper comprises 200 questions. Q:   What is the pattern of NEET PG exam?

A:

NEET PG pattern comprises details about exam mode, medium, total number of questions, allotted time, and marking scheme. NBE conducts NEET PG exam in computer-based mode. The medium of the exam is English only. Candidates don't have option to select any other language in NEET PG exam.

A total of 200 multiple choice questions are asked and candidates get 3.5 hours to answer them. According to the marking scheme, for every right answer, 4 marks are awarded while for wrong response -1 mark is deducted. No mark will be awarded/deduced for unanswered question.

Q:   How many questions are asked in NEET PG exam?

A:

NEET PG exam comprises of 200 multiple choice questions with each question having 4 response options in English language only. Candidates are required to select the correct/best/most appropriate response/answer out of the 4 response options provided in each question. Time allotted is 3 hrs 30 minutes. There is a provision of negative marking in the exam. In the wake of negative marking, candidates are advised to attempt only those questions where they have full confidence of correct answer. Otherwise negative marks may outweigh your overall score.

Q:   Does NBE conduct NEET PG in pen and paper mode?

A:

No. Unlike NEET, NBE conducts NEET PG exam in computer-based mode. NEET PG pattern is declared by NBE along with the official information brochure. NEET PG pattern comprises details regarding mode and medium of exam, total number of questions, allotted time and marking scheme. As per the existing pattern, total 200 multiple choice questions are asked in NEET PG exam and candidates are provided 3.5 hours to answer them. Medium of the question paper is English only. There is no option to choose the language of the question paper. For every right answer, 4 marks is awarded and negative response -1 is deducted.

Q:   Will marks be deducted for unanswered questions in NEET PG?

A:

No marks will be deducted for unanswered questions as per the existing NEET PG pattern. Such questions will not be taken into consideration while calculating marks of a candidate. Candidates are advised to attempt only those questions where they are confident of right answer. If there is iota of doubt of correct answer, candidates are advised to leave that question. Otherwise, negative marking may reduce your total score which will ultimately impact your overall performance.

Q:   Can I opt for Hindi in NEET PG exam?

A:

No. There is no option of any other language other than English. According to the existing NEET PG pattern, the exam is conducted in English language only. While NEET exam is conducted in 13 languages, NEET PG is conducted in only one language. NBE releases exam pattern along with the official information brochure. According to existing exam pattern, the exam is conducted in computer-based mode. Total 200 multiple choice questions are asked of 800 marks. Total allotted time for the question paper is 3.5 hours.

Q:   Will there be negative marking in the NEET PG exam?

A:

Yes. According to the exam pattern, mark is deducted for each wrong answer in NEET PG exam. For each right answer, candidates get 4 marks and for each wrong answer, -1 mark is deducted. As there is a provision of the negative marking in the exam, candidates are advised to answer only those questions where they have confidence of right answer, otherwise negative marking may put toll on overall score.

Understanding the NEET PG Pattern 2025

Mode of the examination: According to the existing exam pattern of NEET PG, the examination will be conducted in a computer-based mode (online). Candidates can appear for NEET PG mock tests to understand the NEET PG exam pattern. 

Medium of the examination: Candidates do not have the option to attempt NEET PG examination in regional languages. The examination will be held in English language only.

Duration of the examination: The NEET PG exam pattern suggests that the duration of the examination is 3.5 hours.

Total number of questions asked in the examination: The total number of NEET PG questions asked in the exam is 200. The question paper is divided into three sections. NBE doesn't release subject wise weightage for NEET PG officially. However, the table given below highlights subjectwise weightage of NEET PG based on students' feedback and experts' suggestions.

NEET PG 2025 Syllabus

NEET PG syllabus covers subjects and topics which are taught in MBBS course curriculum. The syllabus for NEET PG 2025 has veen divided into three segments,  Clinical, Pre Clinical, and Para Clinical. Before starting preparation, candidates should have idea about the syllabus so that they know what all subjcts need to be prepared for the exam. As questions are asked from all three segments, candidates need to study all subjects as part of the NEET PG syllabus 2024. Candidates need to know in and out of every topic given in the syllabus.

Q:   Which subject in NEET PG syllabus contains maximum and minimum weightage?

A:

NBE doesn't release the weightage for NEET PG exam. However, from last few years record, it can be said that maximum weightage is given to clinical subjects. A good number of questions are asked from general medicine, general surgury and paediatrics. Lesser number of questions are asked from anatomy, physiology etc. Candidates must note weightage for NEET PG syllabus may vary. This is why, candidates are advised not to depend upon weightage and prepare all subjects of clinical, pre and para clinical well so that there is less scope of negative marking.

No. NEET PG 2025 pattern has not been released yet. The pattern and other crucial details related to NEET PG 2025 exam is released along with the official information brochure. NEET PG 2025 is expected to be held in June. NBE, the exam conducting body will release information brochure containing NEET PG 2025 pattern. The exam pattern carries crucial details such as mode and medium, total of questions, allotted time, and marking scheme. Candidates will have to register online to submit application form for NEET PG 2025.

Q:   How many sections comprise NEET PG syllabus?

A:

NEET PG syllabus mainly comprises three sections, Pre Clinical, Para clinical, and Clinical. Each section comprises different subjects which have to be prepared well to qualify NEET PG exam. The pre clinical subjects include anatomy, physiology and biochemistry. To cover para clinical section, candidates have to prepare subjects such as pharmacology, microbiology, pathology, forensic medicine, social and preventive medicine. Clinical part comprises subjects such as medicine, dermatology and venereology surgery, orthopaedics and anaesthesia, radiodiagnosis, obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, and ophthalmology ENT.

Q:   Which part is difficult in NEET PG syllabus?

A:

As such no section is easy in NEET PG syllabus. Some candidates may find clinical section easy while others may perceive para clinical as difficult. In reality, all the three sections clinical pre and para clinical are equally difficult and candidates have to devote good amount of time to prepare in and out of every subjects. It must be noted, a good number of questions are clinical based, so this section holds huge importance.

Some topics of pre and para clinical are utmost important as lots of questions are from them. Point is candidates should prepare all three sections in such manner so that 90 percent questions can be answered easily. Last year, clinical section was difficult in comparision to other two sections.

Q:   I marked two answers for a question in NEET PG. One of the answers is correct. Will I get full marks for this question?

A:

Candidates can't  mark more than one answer as NEET PG is computer-based exam. Moreover, in the official information brochure, there is no mention of whether candidate will be deducted marks or not for marking two options. NEET PG 2025 exam pattern will be released by National Board of Examinations (NBE). The exam is conducted in computer-based mode. Candidates are provided total 3.5 hours to answer the question paper.

Q:   Will NBE change NEET PG 2025 pattern?

A:

There is no such reports stating that NEET PG 2025 pattern will be changed. NEET PG 2025 pattern will be released along with the official information brochure. Most probably there won't be any change for NEET PG 2025 pattern. Candidates are advised to prepare for the exam keeping the existing pattern in the mind. NEET PG exam is conducted in computer-based mode currently. The question paper will comprise 200 multiple choice questions and candidates will get 3.5 hours to attempt them.
