The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) released the SSC CHSL 2024 notification and application form on April 8, 2024, to fill 3,712 vacancies in Group C posts including for Lower Divisional Clerk/ Junior Secretariat Assistant, and Data Entry Operators. The SSC CHSL notification 2024 contains the latest eligibility conditions for the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) 10+2 examination 2024. The SSC CHSL eligibility criteria 2024 includes various parameters such as age limit, educational qualification, nationality, reservation norms and others. Here we have provided the detailed SSC CHSL 2024 eligibility conditions so that the candidates can understand the minimum requirements that need to be fulfilled.

Candidates need to understand each component of the eligibility criteria because in case they do not confirm any of the criteria, their candidature will be cancelled at any stage of the exam. The Commission prescribes detailed eligibility criteria for the SSC CHSL 2024 exam in the form of nationality/citizenship, age limit and educational qualification. 

Q:   How to choose SSC CHSL exam centre?

A:

Candidates need to give their preference for three exam cities (in the same region) where they wish to appear for the exam in a priority order when filling out the SSC CHSL application form 2023. The Commission does not consider any request for change of exam under any circumstances. However, the Commission reserves the right to cancel any centre and ask the candidates of that Centre to appear from another centre. The Commission also reserves the right to divert candidates from any centre to some other Centre.

Q:   What are the total marks in SSC CHSL Tier 1?

A:

SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam holds a total weightage of 200 marks. As per the SSC CHSL exam pattern, the Tier 1 has 100 questions, 25 MCQs from each of the four subjects/sections - English, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Intelligence and Reasoning. There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answers given by candidates.

Q:   What are the minimum qualifying marks for SSC CHSL exam?

A:
Candidates need to score a minimum 33 per cent aggregate in SSC CHSL Tier 1 and Tier 2 exams taken together in order to qualify the exam. The aggregate score of both tiers is taken into account while shortlisting candidates for the next selection round, that is, the Skill Test.

SSC CHSL Eligibility 2024: Nationality/Citizenship

A candidate must be either of the following:

  • A citizen of India
  • A subject of Nepal
  • A subject of Bhutan
  • A person of Indian origin migrated from either/or Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, Vietnam to permanently settle in India

Note: All candidates (other than citizens of India) need to produce a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India when asked by the authorities. As per the official notification, the offer of appointment will be issued to such candidates only after they produce the certificate of eligibility.

SSC CHSL Age Limit 2024

To fulfil SSC CHSL 2024 eligibility criteria, candidates must be aged between 18 and 27 years as of August 1, 2024. As per the SSC CHSL 2024 age limit criteria, Candidates born not before August 2, 1996, and not later than August 1, 2005, are eligible to apply for the exam.

The Commission provides relaxation in the upper age limit for candidates belonging to different reserved categories. The permissible limit in SSC CHSL age limit 2024 criteria for reserved categories is as mentioned below:    

Q:   What is the SSC CHSL 2024 Exam eligibility?

A:

The official notification mentions all the eligibility conditions for the SSC CHSL exam. The SSC CHSL eligibility criteria that candidates need to fulfil are: A candidate must be either a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal/ Bhutan, Tibetan refugee, a person of Indian origin. Candidates who are between the age group of 18 to 27 years can apply for the exam. The education qualification required for registering for the SSC CHSL exam is class 12th passed.

Q:   What is the age limit for SSC CHSL 2024 exam?

A:
According to the SSC CHSL official notification, applicants must be between the age group of 18 to 27 years to be eligible to apply for the SSC CHSL exam, as per the cutoff date prescribed by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). The upper age limit for the general category is 27 years, Whereas reserved category candidates are given age relaxation in the upper age limit. The SC/ ST category candidates get 5 years relaxation, OBC category candidates et 3 years and PwD category get 10 years relaxation.

Q:   I am an Indian citizen but I have done 10th from CBSE and 12th from Nepal board. Can I apply for SSC CHSL exam or for any gov job?

A:

Yes, you can apply for SSC CHSL Exam provided they produce the certificate of eligibility from the government of India.

If you are a citizen of Nepal then you aren't allowed to apply for regular government jobs in India.

You can give UPSC as a citizen of Nepal 

There are no barriers but you have your documents every where for verification. You will get strictly verified for the nationality identification so have your documents original and keep them updated as there are some documents which gets expired after some period.

Q:   What are the good attempts in SSC CHSL exam?

A:

Q:   How many SSC CHSL exam centres can I choose?

A:

Candidates can choose three SSC CHSL exam centres in the order of priority, within the
same region.
Candidates are advised to choose the SSC CHSL exam centres carefully while filling out the application form. The exam centres once selected by candidates in the application form cannot be changed later at any stage.

  • The date of birth entered by the candidate in the SSC CHSL application form should be the same as mentioned in their Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate
  • Candidates seeking age relaxation must produce the required certificate issued from the competent authority, in the prescribed format at the time of document verification. The candidature of candidates who fail to produce the certificate will be considered under the unreserved (UR) category
  • Ex-servicemen who have already obtained employment in the civil side under the Central Government in Group ‘C’ & ‘D’ posts on a regular basis after availing the reservation benefits given to ex-servicemen for their re-employment are not eligible to apply for the exam under the ESM category
  • The period of ‘Call up Service’ of an ex-serviceman in the Armed Forces will also be considered as service rendered in the Armed Forces for the purpose of age relaxation
  • Candidates who are sons, daughters and dependents of ex-servicemen are not eligible to apply for SSC CHSL under the ESM category

SSC CHSL Educational Qualification 2024

Post-wise educational qualifications that candidates need to obtain as of August 1, 2024, to fulfil SSC CHSL eligibility are:

  • For DEO)/ DEO Grade ‘A’ in Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Ministry of Culture: Candidates should pass Class 12 in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognised board or equivalent
  • For LDC/ JSA and DEO/ DEO Grade ‘A’ (except DEOs in Department/ Ministry): Candidates should clear Class 12 or possess an equivalent qualification from a recognised board or university

Note: Candidates who have appeared in their Class 12 or equivalent exam can also apply, however, they must possess the essential qualification on or before August 1, 2024.

A. The SSC CHSL salary structure is as follows:

  • Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA): Pay Level 2 (INR 19,900 - 63,200).
  • Data Entry Operator (DEO): Pay Level 4 (INR 25,500 - 81,100) and Level 5(INR 29,200 - 92,300).
  • Data Entry Operator, Grade ‘A’: Pay Level 4(INR 25,500 - 81,100).

Q. What is the main age limit for SSC CHSL?

A. The SSC CHSL age limit is 18 to 27 years. Candidates born not before August 2, 1996 and not later than August 1, 2005 are eligible to apply for the exam. However, there is relaxation in upper age limit for different categories in accordance with extant Rules/ guidelines of Government of India.
