Cover all the topics in the syllabus and revise them thoroughly to clear the competitive exam.
Maths is considered as one of the difficult subjects by every student. To secure high scores in IIT JAM Maths, one must roll-up their sleeves to understand the basic concepts and learn all the important formulae. Mathematics is one of the important topics that could be learned quickly when the fundamentals are cleared. One cannot learn these concepts overnight, hence, regular practise should be done to achieve the set goals. Several methods could help in preparing for the IIT JAM Mathematics. First, gather all the details of the IIT JAM Mathematics syllabus, paper patterns, marking scheme and so on. Prioritise the topics by its weightage and importance in the test. Differential Calculus is one of the main and high-weightage topics based on the analysis of the previous five years. Cover at least one to two topics every day.
JAM aspirants (particularly beginners) often get mixed up between IIT JAM Mathematical Statistics (MS) and Mathematics (MA).
In terms of instruction and assessment, each of these subjects has a different pattern. The key feature of the MS paper is that it contains 40% Mathematics and 60% Statistics This 60% is crucial for every student, hence, it must be prioritised during the preparation. For this section also, know the marking scheme, the IIT JAM MS paper template, and understand the syllabus before commencing preparation. As said earlier, do not get confused between papers from MA and MS as both are different. Divide the Math and Statistics topics according to your interest, difficulty level and so on to cover each topic on time. Arrange these topics according to their weightage. Focus on covering all the topics as each topic is important.

After completing the syllabus, try to practise at least four to five previous year question papers each day, assess the level of preparation, identify weak areas write them down and give extra time to these areas.
Do not hesitate to take guidance from friends and teachers to clarify any doubt. Identify the recurring mistakes and work on fixing these on priority.
Take planned and proper breaks as this would help reducing stress while studying a particular topic. Plan the breaks in a manner so that the syllabus could be completed on time.
