For the 2020-21 academic session, the Forest Research Institute (FRI) Deemed to be University has decided to conduct the FRI Entrance Exam for admission to MSc and PhD courses in online mode for the very first time. Under such devastating circumstances, the only option to available now is to conduct the FRI Entrance Exam in online mode. Due to the impact of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and the raging cases in India, the varsity has decided to conduct the FRI entrance exam in online mode, for the safety of the students and in order to maintain social distancing.
The FRI Deemed to be University had released a list of candidates who were found eligible to appear for the FRI Entrance Exam. For admission to MSc courses, a total of 1138 students have been found eligible for the FRI Entrance Exam (MSc). For admission to PhD courses, a total of 346 students have been found eligible for the FRI Entrance Exam (PhD).

Rules & Guidelines for FRI Entrance Exam
The eligible students will have to give the entrance exams from their homes under virtual/online invigilation mode, which is also known as Remote Proctored. The students will have to first visit the official website of FRI Deemed to be University as the entrance exam will be made live on a predetermined date and time and can only be taken using the ‘Lockdown Browser’ on the candidate’s laptop. Once the Lockdown Browser is installed and the browser starts, the candidate will not be able to open any other application on the Laptop.
There are certain rules and regulations which need to be followed by the candidate as even the slightest of mishaps and mistakes can lead to the entrance examination being cancelled. The use of Remote Proctored is to ensure that the candidate does not use any unfair means to cheat. The candidate will be allocated a defined Online Exam Video Room & Room Code on their email IDs. They will have to join the room using Zoom application on their mobile phones. The details will be provided on the candidate’s registered email ID.
After the details are provided and once the video verification is completed, a Test Pin will be launched over email/chat/video for launching the FRI Entrance Exam. Also, the candidate’s mobile phone will be needed to be placed so that the side or back of the candidate is available on the mobile for the entire duration of the test. In simple words, your mobile phone has to be at a point where you can be monitored.

FRI Entrance Exam - Minimum System Requirements
The candidate should have the system requirements in order to take the FRI Entrance Exam.
- The candidate should have the Lockdown Browser installed on their Laptops/PC. The FRI Entrance Exam will not open on any other browser.
- The candidate’s Laptop/PC should have a Webcam with min. of 1.3 MP and good Audio quality.
- The operating system should be Windows 7, 8 or 10. RAM & Processor: 4 GB+ RAM, i3 5th Generation 2.2 GHz or equivalent/higher.
- There should be an uninterrupted supply of power – UPS/Inverter.
- Network speed should of a minimum of 2 MBPS or above.
- The mobile phone should have a decent camera.
- The phone should have a zoom call installed.
Do’s and Don’ts during FRI Entrance Exam
There are a set of rules which one needs to follow and adhere to. One needs to remember that they are being monitored and invigilated, the only difference from the exam hall and being at home is that there you will be monitored for the entire duration of the entrance exam. Here are the do’s and don’t which one needs to follow for the FRI Entrance Exam:
- The candidate shall be in a separate room/environment.
- The place should have good lighting. A desk and chair is preferable and will be more comfortable to give the entrance exam.
- The candidate should give the entrance exam in a noise-free room with no movement of people in the surroundings.
- The invigilator will cancel the entrance exam if any person is in the room, there is inappropriate lighting or having any other electronic device in the room.
- Candidates have to log in 40 minutes before the scheduled entrance exam.
- The candidate must dress decently.
- The candidate is not allowed to talk during the entrance exam or read loudly.
- Candidates must not use headphones, earphones or any listening device during the entrance exam.
- The candidate cannot leave the room for any reason during the entrance exam.
- There will be no toilet breaks during the entrance exam.
- If the camera angles change on the laptop or mobile phone, the invigilator will stop the test.
- The candidate can neither look away from the laptop while giving the entrance exam.
- Any kind of suspicious movement will lead to cancellation of the entrance exam.
