JEST 2025 Application process has started as per the link available on the official site of JEST. Candidates who wish to appear for the exam should go to the official website and fill in the application form by filling in their login details i.e. email id, and password.

The JEST 2025 Exam Date has been revised for students who wish to pursue a PhD/Integrated PhD Programme in Physics or Neuroscience Theoretical Computer Science or Computational Biology in one of the participating Institutes of JEST.  As per the notification on the official JEST website, the JEST exam 2025 is going to be held on April 6, 2025. The JEST 2025 Exam is conducted for candidates who wish to pursue PhD and integrated PhD programmes of different participating institutes. Candidates who wish to appear for the JEST 2025 Exam must visit the official website to stay updated with the upcoming events and to be able to fill out the application form and make needed arrangements accordingly. The exam conducting body for JEST is the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), previously the exam was conducted by the Science & Engineering Research Board (SEBS)

Only those candidates who fill in the JEST application form will be eligible to access the JEST 2025 admit card by visiting the official site. Participating candidates need to fill in all the needed details, upload documents and submit the application fee within the given timeframe to gain eligibility to appear for the JEST 2025 Exam. The exam conducting authorities will open the window to correct/modify the application form for candidates to rectify their mistakes. Candidates must make the necessary changes within the given timeline else they will not be allowed to do so once the correction window is closed.

JEST 2025: Important Instructions

Here are some important instructions candidates must be aware of:

  • Candidates need to pay their application fee online via Debit/Credit Cards/Net-banking options are available.
  • Application Fee for Women candidates who belong to SC/ST is waived.
  • Candidates should carefully read the application instructions, FAQ and eligibility criteria of each of the institutes, for different programmes, by visiting their respective websites before filling up the form.
  • While filling up the application form candidates need to upload their passport-sized photograph and their scanned signature both in JPEG format. The size of the individual files for photo and signature should not exceed 100 Kilo bytes each. Candidates can also use compression software tools to resize their images.
  • Candidates are suggested to use a black ball pen for the signature which is to be scanned for uploading.
  • Candidates are strictly instructed to keep an identical photograph, to be pasted on the admit card, in case it is not printed on the admit card.
  • In case the application form is incomplete candidates can save and edit the form by clicking on "Save Draft". However, they are not allowed to make changes after the final submission after clicking on the "Submit Application" button.
  • Only after successful online application fee payment, the application process will be considered complete.
  • Incomplete applications or applications without fee payment will be dismissed after the end date of online submissions.
  • Candidates will receive an email after submitting their application form with a unique submission number and payment details respectively, which will be used for all communication purposes.

JEST 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who want to appear in the JEST exam must ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria mentioned by the institutions. The JEST 2025 eligibility criteria for MSc, PhD and Integrated/MSc/MTech - PhD programmes are mentioned below. The eligibility criteria for various courses vary from college to college. There is no age restriction for appearing in the JEST exam.

  • MSc in Physics (in all participating Institutes).
  • MSc in Mathematics/Applied Physics/Applied Mathematics/Optics and Photonics/Instrumentation/Electronics will also be considered at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore.
  • MSc in Physics/Electronics/Astronomy/Applied Mathematics will be considered at IUCAA.
  • MSc in Physics, Engineering Physics or Applied Physics will also be considered at IPR.
  • ME/MTech in Applied Physics will be considered at NISER.
  • MSc in Physics, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Biophysics or Biochemistry will be considered at SNBNCBS.
  • BE or BTech will be considered at IIScIMSc, ICTS-TIFR, IUCAA, JNCASR, NCRA-TIFR, TIFR-TCIS, RRI, IISER Mohali, IISER Pune, IISER Thiruvananthapuram.
  • BTech Eng Phys will be considered at TIFR.

  • MSc/ME/MTech?/MCA in any engineering or science discipline, with good mathematical skills and a strong interest in biological problems.
JEST 2025 Eligibility Criteria for PhD programme in Theoretical Computer Science at IMSc
  • MSc/ME/MTech.in Computer Science and related disciplines, and should be interested in the mathematical aspects of computer science.
JEST 2025 Eligibility Criteria for PhD in Neuroscience at NBRC
  • MSc (Physics/ Mathematics), BE/BTech/MCA in Computer Science
JEST 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Integrated MSc/MTech - PhD Programme (Physics)
  • BSc (Physics/Mathematics) will be considered at SNBNCBS.
  • BSc (Physics) will be considered at IMSc.
  • BSc (Physics/Mathematics/BE/BTech in Electrical/Instrumentation/Engineering Physics/Electronics and Communications/Computer Science and Engineering/Optics and Photonics will be considered in IIA.
  • BSc (Physics) or BE/BTech in Engineering Physics, with a minimum of first-class marks, will be considered at NISER.
  • BSc (Physics) will be considered at IISER-Pune, ICTS-TIFR, NCRA-TIFR, and TIFR-TCIS.

  • BSc (Physics) or BE/BTech in any discipline.
JEST 2025 Eligibility Criteria for Integrated PhD Programme in Theoretical Computer Science at IMSc
  • BSc/BE/BTech/MCA in Computer Science or related disciplines and should be interested in the mathematical aspects of computer science.

  • MSc (Physics/Applied Physics/Post-BSc (Hons) in Optics and Optoelectronics / Radio Physics and Electronics.

  • HRI has started a new MSc programme in Physics in 2021.

Steps to Fill JEST 2025 Application Form

Candidates must check out the following steps to be able to successfully fill and submit the JEST 2025 application form.

Step 3: Upload Important Documents

Step 4: Pay the JEST Application Fee

Aspirants can pay the application fee for the JEST exam online through a Debit card/Credit card and net banking. Any other payment mode will not be accepted.

Step 5: Submit & Print JEST Application Form

Step 6: After the candidate completes all the above-mentioned steps they need to click on the ‘Submit’ button to complete the registration process for the JEST exam.

Step 7: Once candidates successfully submitted their registration form online they received an email on their registered email address containing their “application data after final submission containing Unique Submission Number and filled in data”, informed the official website.

Step 8: Aspirants had to download and keep this information safely for future reference. In a scenario wherein candidates do not receive such an email notification after submission of the JEST application form and completing the e-payment of the JEST application fee then they need to contact JEST authorities and inform the same immediately.
