Q:   Which is better for MA in Urdu- JNU or BHU?

    A:
Both Jawaharlal Nehru University and Banaras Hindu University are top central universities in India. Both have their advantages. Below mentioned are some of the distinct observations about both JNU and BHU: 1. You must have over 50% in your bachelor's degree to apply to BHU, whereas you can apply to JNU with 45%. 2. BHU has more seats for the MA in Urdu course than the JNU. 3. JNU's master programme is less expensive than BHU's. You can do a master's course at JNU for less than INR 1,000. 4. Job opportunities with a master's degree in Urdu from JNU are comparably greater than those with a master's degree in Urdu from BHU.

Q:   What is the effectiveness of the placement cell for M.A. programs at BHU?

    A:
    {Source: M.A. students & alumni}

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for M.A. Programs at BHU

Based on the feedback from students and alumni, the placement cell for M.A. programs at BHU appears to be ineffective. Here's what they have to say:

    * Limited placements: According to several students, there are hardly any placements offered to M.A. students, let alone those in the Linguistics department.
    * No active involvement: The placement coordinators seem to show little interest in organizing placement activities, making it difficult for students to find employment after graduation.
    * Few successful placements: While a few students may secure jobs, the overall placement record seems dismal.
    * Students rely on self-initiative: Many students opt to join placement cells organized by departments or seek employment independently due to the lack of assistance from the placement cell.

Overall, it appears that the placement cell for M.A. programs at BHU requires significant improvement to effectively assist students in securing employment after graduation.

Dissatisfied because of the department, but really good infrastructure and facilities, etc.
Placements: I haven't seen any placements in History of Art yet. It is an average subject. There are no provisions for placement in the subject History of Art. No top recruiting companies for my course. As far as I know, only 10% of the students did internships in the History of Art field. The top role offered in the History of Art course is assistant professor.
Infrastructure: The Faculty of History of Art is quite good. There are fewer seats in the hostels, but the mess here is quite good and affordable. The Wi-Fi facility in the department is quite good, not only in the department but also in the entire college campus. There is also a computer lab here, and the faculty members are quite good. There is a very big library in the college called the central library, but along with the central library, the department also has its own library, which is in the department itself. The facilities of the hostel are quite good and excellent, but there are fewer seats in the hostel, making it a bit difficult for anyone to get a hostel. The quality of food in the hostel mess is good, and cooks pay great attention to cleanliness. Every faculty has its own canteen, where food is available at a very affordable price. Medical facilities are provided to the students quite well. There is a health center in the university where students can come and get treatment for any illness. Apart from this, BHU students can avail privileges at Shyam Under Hospital by using their student ID card. In addition, the university provides facilities for sports, gym, games, NCC, NSS, etc.
Faculty: The teachers of History of Art are very knowledgeable and experienced, and their teaching skills are also very unique. The professors are quite supportive. Yes, this course curriculum is relevant. A semester system is followed for exams in the university. If your course is of 2 years, then you will have to give 4 semesters for it. The semester exam is not difficult. The passing percentage in History of Art is 80-90%.
Other: The best thing about my course is that it gives you detailed information about the art of not only India but also abroad, about their origin and expansion. This helps us understand art and civilization's thought easily. There is a need for improvement in placement in this course and for giving some knowledge to students about the scope in this field. Many events and cultural programs keep happening on the campus. The campus has very good connectivity to the market, hospital, and station.

Absolutely loved my journey because of the faculty and great improvements in me.
Placements: There were around 300 students in my batch 2019-21. Almost 170 of us have qualified for UGC-NET, and 100 out of 170 have qualified for JRF as well. People who aspired to do a PhD are doing the same today. They passed the selection process. Some of us also have become permanent assistant professors, and some are working as guest lecturers. Even our juniors are doing so well.
Infrastructure: Our central library is one of the largest libraries in India, Sayajirao Gaikawad Central Library. And hostels are available as double-seater rooms. No single rooms are allotted in arts departments. Facilities and canteens are top-notch. It's available on Google Search as well. You can see for a crosscheck.
Faculty: Teachers are quite helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. They enhance critical thinking abilities through lectures, projects, and exams. There are question papers with 70 marks in external exams; 60 marks out of 70 are for subjective answers. It shows their encouragement for critical thinking enhancement.
Other: I chose this course because I always have been interested in being an assistant professor of English literature. There are always some lecture programs and scholarly events happening in the Manviya Moolya Anusheelan Kendra, which is a part of our faculty. Moreover, there is a theatre group called Rangshala, which is actively engaged in theatrical activities. Sanskriti and Spain are well-known cultural festivals exploring various events. Sport festivals are top-notch.

Review of Banaras Hindu University .
Placements: We have total 120 student in the batch from them whoever is interested apply for internship and placement. I think 20 students get placement. I didn't apply for that so I don't have any knowledge about this. Thank you. Annual package is 10lakh average.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good. But everyone don't get hostel for hostel one must secure good marks in the entrance exam. Facilities in hostel are like food, gizzer etc. Food are better than other hostel food. Quality of everything is very good and affordable.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified. They teaches really well. Curriculum is also very good. And make students for industry ready. Semester exams are moderate difficult. Pass percentage is 40. Teaching quality is good. They are helpful. Everyone is supportive.

Exceptional faculty and strong industry preparation.
Placements: In my geography course, about 85% of students were placed. The highest package offered was 10 LPA, the lowest was 3 LPA, and the average stood at 6 LPA. Top recruiting companies included GIS Corp., Eco Analytics, and Urban Solutions. Around 60% of students secured internships, mainly with Greentech and Smart City. Top roles included GIS Analyst, Environment Consultant, and Urban Planner.
Infrastructure: The facilities for the geography department are impressive, with strong Wi-Fi, well-equipped labs, spacious classrooms, and a comprehensive library. Hostels offer decent accommodation, though some rooms could use upgrades. The mess serves good-quality food, while the canteen has a variety of snacks. Medical facilities are adequate, and there are good options for sports and games.
Faculty: The teachers in my geography course are exceptional. Highly qualified, approachable, and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is top-notch, making complex concepts easy to grasp. The curriculum is very relevant and prepares students well for industry demands. Semester exams can be challenging, but they are fair, with a pass percentage of around 50%.

Review of M.A. (Political Science), Banaras Hindu University.
Placements: I am from the faculty of social science students. My course is M.A. (Political Science). As there is not much opportunity in my course for placement, some students join placement cells organized by departments to get placement in various sectors and get paid based on the work.
Infrastructure: I live in Raja Ram Mohan Roy Hostel, which is exclusively allotted to postgraduate students. My course is political science. In my course, there are approximately 130 students who get admission, and every student gets access to the library and Wi-Fi facilities.
Faculty: Teachers are very good and well qualified. There are five papers in my course. For five papers, approximately 10 teachers are provided to teach the papers. It means two teachers teach one paper. They complete their courses on time, are student-friendly, and take extra classes as well when needed.
Other: I chose political science because I completed my graduation from this stream and wanted to choose political science as my career option.
