Delhi University BA Courses & Fees 2025: Eligibility, Admission 2024, Dates, Application Form

DU was recently ranked #328 in the 'University' category by QS World Ranking 2025 and 11 by NIRF in 2023. The university is not ranked for any major course such as BSc, however, it consistently gets ranked for the 'University' category by NIRF over the past years. In the absence of BSc-specific placements data, the above-mentioned data is gathered from sources other than the official website, i.e., NIRF. Going  by the ranking received by the university and its placements records, it can be considered a reputed option for BSc and other UG programmes such as BA and BCom. 

DU admission for 2025 will open soon. Currently, the applications are open for PhD programme till Dec 10, 2024. Admission in Delhi University is based on CUET-UG and CUET-PG scores. Below are the upcoming events for DU admission:

• The CUET PG registration process 2025 for admission to PG courses is expected to begin during the last week of Dec 2024, tentatively.
• The CUET UG registration process 2025 for admission to UG courses will commence tentatively during the last week of Feb 2025. The CUET UG 2025 exam dates will be announced soon.

DU University registrations via CUET usually begins in February every year. Soon after the release of the notification, the CUET application process commences online. Candidates willing to appear for CUET 2025 exam must ensure to fill out the application form online when released. The process will began after the release of CUET-UG and CUET-PG results which are expected to release in July.

The University of Delhi Common Seat Allocation System registrations 2024 will begin soon. While the university conducted DU UG admissions 2024 via CUET scores through the CSAS portal last year as well, this is the first time DU will conduct DU PG admissions 2024 through CUET. Eligible students seeking DU admission 2024 have to register through the DU CSAS official website. 

DU does not conduct any entrance exam for admission to BA or BA (Hons) courses. However, it accepts the scores obtained by the students in the CUET UG exam for UG admission at any affiliated college. Having said that, students can get admission to Delhi University even if they didn't apply for CUET. While the chances of getting admission will be much lower, here are some of the ways a student can get admission to Delhi University without CUET:

1. Take a chance on the spot admission: You can try your luck at the spot admission process, which is conducted by Delhi University after the CUET results are announced. However, the number of seats available under the spot admission process is very limited, so your chances of getting admission are slim.
2. Apply for admission through the Delhi University School of Open Learning (SOL): The Delhi University School of Open Learning (SOL) offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses that do not require CUET scores. However, the admission process for SOL is more competitive than the regular admission process.

Many colleges of the University of Delhi provide hostel facilities to the students. However, it is not available at all the colleges. Additionally, the hostel seats are limited and shall be allotted to the students based on merit only. DU BA hostel fees ranges from INR 15,600 to INR 5.4 lakh. This fee range includes the hostel fee at different colleges of the university.

Moreover, this fee amount is taken from the official website/sanctioning body. It is still subject to changes and hence, is indicative. The authorities also reserve the rights to revise the fees in any academic year. 

The application process of Delhi University affiliated colleges for its BA and BA (Hons) courses start with the registration process of CUET. The first step is to register for the CUET by visiting the official website of the exam. Find a step-by-step guide to fill out the CUET 2023 application form in the following section:

Step 1: Visit the official website of CUET and click on the "New Registration" tab. (https://cuet.samarth.ac.in/)

Step 2: Fill in all the required details such as personal and contact details and generate a password to complete the registration process.

Step 3: After completing the registration, move ahead to fill out the CUET application form by entering all the details in the given slots then click on “Save & Proceed”.

Step 4: Upload all the scanned documents including photograph and signature.

Step 5: Select any three courses and universities and after previewing the application form, click on “Submit & Make Payment” to proceed.

Step 6: Complete the application process by paying an application amount through online mode.

Those who qualify the exam are required to register on the DU CSAS portal (admission.uod.ac.in) for the final admission and college preference filling process. Based on the score in CUET UG, students receive admission calls in various rounds. 

The first year of the UG course is divided into two semesters. Aspirants have to appear for the exams semesterly and clear them to pass the course. The subjects included in DU BA (H) in Economics course offered at Delhi School of Economics are:

• Mathematical Methods for Economics - I & II
• Introductory Microeconomics - I & II
• Art of Communication
• Environmental Science

The CUET UG cut off is determined by CUET participating universities seperately. Parameters on the basis of which CUET UG cut off is released are:

• Total number of candidates that appeared for the CUET UG exam
• The number of seats offered by the participating universities through CUET UG
• The difficulty level of the CUET exam
• Overall performance of the test takers (pass percentage/ score range, etc.)

CUET cut off is based on the percentile of the candidate. To calculate the CUET percentile following formula is applied:

100*Number of candidates appeared in the session with a raw score is equal to or less than a candidate/ total number of candidates appeared for CUET UG.

For admission to a BA/BA (Hons) programme at the University of Delhi, aspirants need to have a valid score of CUET. Hence, the aspirants fulfilling the eligibility requirements need to fill out CUET application available on the NTA official website. The exam fees range from INR 800 to INR 4,500. While filling out the application, students must enter the college and course preferences carefully. After the exam results are out, aspirants are required to register on the DU CSAS portal as well. In this registration, students need to select the final college and course selection. 

No, Delhi University does not offers direct/merit-based admission to the BA/BA (Hons) courses. Starting from 2022, the admission to BA at DU Colleges is based on merit in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). Earlier, the university use to release its cutoff list and offer admission based on Class 12 aggregate. To take the national-level examination, aspirants can apply on the official website of NTA CUET and select DU colleges and preferred course combinations.

After declaration of CUET results, students also need to register on DU CSAS portal. Then they can lock their choices and accept allotted college and course as well. Further, seat is confirmed after document verification and fee payment. 

At the undergraduate level, the University of Delhi offers BA (Hons) across 29 specialisations out of which 23 offered merit-based admission and the remaining offered entrance-based (DUET) admission to the students till 2021. Additionally, the University also offers BA Prog. course across multiple subject combinations (across different colleges) in which admission is completely based on merit scores obtained by the students in Class 12. However, starting 2022, DU admission to all the UG courses will get conducted via CUET UG.

Pros:

* Good faculties: Many students praised their teachers for being knowledgeable, helpful, and supportive.
* Relevant curriculum: The course curriculum is relevant and updated, making students industry-ready.
* Placements: Many companies visit the campus for placements, including Amazon, Accenture, and others. Around 40-80% of students get placed, with salaries ranging from INR3 Lacs to INR11 Lacs per annum.
* Infrastructure: The college has good infrastructure, with well-equipped classrooms, libraries, and laboratories.
* Location: The college is located in the heart of North Campus, with easy access to markets, eateries, and bookstores.

Cons:

* Limited availability of resources: Some students complained about the limited availability of resources, such as textbooks and equipment.
* High competition: With around 60% of students getting placed, the competition for placements can be fierce.
* Not suitable for self-motivated learners: Some students felt that the course is heavily dependent on attending classes and may not be suitable for those who prefer to learn independently.
* Limited extracurricular activities: While the college is close to other institutions in North Campus, some students felt that there are limited extracurricular activities available within the college.

Conclusion:
Delhi University's B.A. programme seems to have both positive and negative aspects. While it offers good faculties, relevant curriculum, and decent placements, it also faces challenges such as limited resources and high competition. Ultimately, whether or not the university is "good" for B.A. depends on individual preferences and goals.
