Q:   Is it worth pursuing M.E./M.Tech at YMCA University?

A:
{Source: M.E./M.Tech students & alumni}

Based on the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, here's a summary of the pros and cons:

Pros:
* Campus life is great, with many clubs, sporting grounds, and facilities.
* Faculty members are generally experienced and knowledgeable.
* Research opportunities and seminars are organized regularly.
* Hostel facilities are available for girls and boys, although the condition may vary.

Cons:
* Curriculum is outdated and redundant, leading to limited job prospects.
* Placements for M.Tech (CSE) are poor, and students often struggle to find jobs.
* Teachers may lack qualifications in M.Tech and prioritize theoretical over practical learning.
* Facilities such as drinking water, canteen food, and washrooms need improvement.
* High expectations regarding grades and attendance can lead to stress.

Considering these points, while YMCA University may have some strengths, the overall experience seems to be mixed. Students may face challenges finding suitable employment due to the outdated curriculum and poor placements. However, those interested in research or wanting to gain hands-on experience may still consider attending the institution. Ultimately, it depends on individual priorities and goals.

The infrastructure of our college was not good.
Placements: Around 85% to 90% of eligible students get placed with respectable salary packages. The lowest salary package offered is 4 LPA and the highest salary package is 60 LPA, and the average salary package is 9 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Amazon, Cred, Samsung, Pure Software, Adobe, etc. Around 25% of students get internships in their 3rd year in big companies like Amazon, Yamaha, etc. The top role offered is software development engineer.
Infrastructure: Hostel infrastructure is very poor. It is a very old university so its infrastructure is not properly maintained. Wi-Fi is average. Labs are not good. Classrooms are average and the library is very small. Hostels were not allotted for our batch.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are highly qualified and helpful. Students have to pay proper attention in classrooms to gain good knowledge. Teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is outdated so it doesn't make students industry ready. Semester exams are good. Students have to work hard to maintain a good CGPA. The pass percentage is 40%.
Other: I chose this course as it is one of the most prominent universities in North India that provides good opportunities to students. The best thing about our course is that it is highly focused on industry needs. Less improvements are needed. Students should focus on the activities of clubs. There are many extracurricular activities. Every week, one or more events are organised in our college. Fests are not good. Campus crowd is more but has a good environment. Many scholarships are provided to needy students. Our campus is surrounded by industries, markets, and a metro station that provides good connectivity.

I am not satisfied with the campus life at this college but it provides good placements.
Placements: About 78% of students got placed in our course. The highest on-campus salary package offered is 44 LPA. The average salary package offered for our batch ranges between 7 LPA - 8 LPA, and the lowest salary package is 2.78 LPA. Top recruiting companies are CRED, Adobe, etc.
Infrastructure: Our department provides good facilities and infrastructure. Our library has a wide range of books. Our classrooms are well-maintained and clean. Medical facilities are available 24X7 in our college. Sports and games are available, but our college does not support them much.
Faculty: Teachers are very much helpful. They have good qualifications and knowledge about the course they are teaching. Their teaching quality is very good. Semester exams are moderate. The pass percentage is above average.
Other: Our course is good because it teaches both electronics and computer engineering, which is much useful for students as this can help them to choose any field between the two. The overall rating of our course is good.

Dissatisfied because of infrastructure, rest is good
Placements: Students get a decent placement in this college, around 6 to 7 lakhs. About 78% students were placed. Companies like google, amazon etc visit in our campus and many more small scale companies also. Top roles are computer science and electronics and computer engineering. This year almost 4 students got placed in google with avg 18-19 lakhs.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is very bad in our college. It is small campus consists of land area office just 20 acres. There is no boys hostel in the college but there is girls hostel for all the 4 years. 3 year and 4 year girls hostels are very good and have good infrastructure. About studying there are separate buildings for computer branch, electronics branch, mechanical branch, etc. Library is small.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful in our branch, came timely in the class and take the whole class without any disturbance. If anyone wants to ask a question they answer immediately. Course curriculum is just same as other colleges as it is not industry ready but languages like C,C++,Java,Python are helpful in course curriculum. Semester exams are not so difficult, just read the notes of the particular teacher of the subject.
Other: Fest are very minimal in this college, there is no official freshers to be held by the college. However hostel and each clubs freshers would be provided separately. About vests, there are no big fests held here just like in nit and iit.

Our college is good but need to improve its facilities.
Placements: There is no official record of placements and internships. The highest salary package is 7.5 LPA in CS. So next year there will be a record of placements of this branch.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is not so good but labs are good but not so maintained. There is Wi-Fi and a good library. Hostels are not so good and the infrastructure is bad. Mess and canteen are bad with high prices and quality of food is not so good.
Faculty: Teachers are not so good and some things are relevant in the course. Semester exams are not so hard but for electrical students, it's hard because their teachers are strict due to which it's hard for them to pass.

Satisfied with the college.
Placements: About 90% are placed, the highest Package approximately 18-20 LPA, Samsung, 60% got internship during their college time, Depth knowledge of electronics as well as Computer Science. The B.Tech Electrical and Computer Engineering course essentially explores concepts related to Computation, Mathematics, Physics, Life Sciences, etc.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available on campus, Most of the Classrooms are with AC, and A good library with thousands of books. During your first year of college, you will be juggling many new experiences: new friends, new living situations, new activities, new classes, and new teachers.
Faculty: Teachers are also supportive. Broadly speaking, the function of teachers is to help students learn by imparting knowledge to them and by setting up a situation in which students can and will learn effectively. But teachers fill a complex set of roles, which vary from one society to another and from one educational level to another.
Other: Let me tell you an example where you get to gain a very good knowledge of a language, say python, and hence plan to develop an application. Now you need to know what kind of application you have to develop, who can use it, what are tools available currently in the market that can be integrated with your work to make it easy, has anyone tried it previously, and what are the reasons for the failure of his/hers, what is the real world acceptance, how much can you charge for that, what is the efficiency of that product in solving the real world issues, etc.

Q:   Is YMCA University good for M.Sc.?

A:
{Source: M.Sc. students & alumni}

Based on the reviews and feedback from students and alumni, here's what we've gathered:

* Infrastructure: The university has a good infrastructure, with well-equipped laboratories, comfortable classrooms, and a decent library.
* Faculty: Teachers are generally helpful, knowledgeable, and supportive. They guide students not just in academics but also for career growth and entrances like GATE or CSIR NET.
* Course Curriculum: The curriculum is relevant, and the syllabus is designed well. However, some students felt that it could be more challenging.
* Examinations: Semester exams are considered moderate to difficult, but with good preparation, students can achieve good grades.
* Placement: While most students praised the placement record for B.Tech and MBA students, the situation was different for M.Sc. students. About 30% of students got placed, but mostly in low-paying jobs.
* Research Opportunities: Unfortunately, internships were not available in the M.Sc. program.
* Career Growth: Although the placement scenario wasn't ideal, students believed that the quality education and research opportunities prepared them well for further studies or careers.

In summary, while YMCA University has its strengths, particularly in terms of infrastructure and faculty, the M.Sc. programme seems to have limitations in terms of placement and research opportunities. Please note that these observations are based on a compilation of students' and alumni's reviews and might not represent the entire experience.
