B.Tech in Electronics Engineering (VLSI Design & Technology) - Batch of 2028
Offered by MEC Kochi - Government Model Engineering College
3.6
1Placements4Infrastructure4Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life4Value for Money
Absolutely satisfied with the faculty, campus, feels. Placements are very good in 2024.
Placements: There is no pass out yet for vlsi branch. However, there is a very high placement Statistics here. A total of 273 offers were made during the MEC Kochi placementsin 2023, with leading recruiters such as Cognizant, Deloitte, and EY visiting the campus. Among the branches, CSE received the highest number of offers at 106, followed by ECE with 97, EBE with 38, and EEE with 32. The highest package offered during the 2023 placement season was an impressive INR 52 LPA, marking a significant milestone for the institute. In comparison, 416 offers were made during the 2022 placement session, where CSE also emerged as the top-performing branch. Renowned companies such as ZOHO Corporation, Schneider Electric, and Rockwell Automation participated in the recruitment drive, offering diverse opportunities to students.
Infrastructure: The Course offers very good faculty for teaching. There is availability of Wi-Fi and separate labs for each department. There are labs for Electronics, Electrical, Chemistry Physics Computer Science, Mechanical engineering, and more such branches. When it comes to Hostel, I think MEC did a very good job. It is affordable and the food is the best thing there. Usually in hostels the food is not that good. But it is an exception here. There is also a gym, basketball court and many more sports related arena near and inside the hostel.
Faculty: The teachers at Model Engineering College (MEC) are highly qualified, knowledgeable, and approachable, always willing to help students both academically and beyond. Their teaching quality is exceptional, combining theoretical depth with practical insights to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the subjects. The course curriculum is meticulously designed to be industry-relevant, equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their respective fields. With a strong emphasis on hands-on learning, students are well-prepared for industry challenges. Semester exams at MEC are moderate challenging, requiring consistent effort and a clear grasp of concepts. Despite this, the college maintains a high pass percentage, reflection the effectiveness of the teaching and the dedication of students.
Other: The reason I chose this course is because MEC promises a very good salary package. However I think it would be better if there are more programs conducted. There are scholarships and whatnot. In my opinion the extra curricular activities should be given more importance than it is getting now.

B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering - Batch of 2026
Offered by Amal Jyothi College of Engineering
4.4
4Placements5Infrastructure4Faculty5Crowd & Campus Life4Value for Money
Excellence campus, excellent hostel. The only drawback is that food quality is average.
Placements: A good number of students have been placed in different companies. The average starting salary is around 15 to 30k. Students from ECE got placed in Royal Enfield too. Eicher, Tata, Wipro, and Infosys are some of the companies that students got placed from here.
Infrastructure: Amal Jyothi College of Engineering has a good infrastructure and facilities. It has a well-equipped gym, a department library, and well-equipped laboratories. The classrooms have large computer screens like smartclass. The hostel is one of the best hostels with good infrastructure compared to other engineering colleges. The food has different varieties and the quality is average. The campus and hostel are very clean and green. The college promotes games like football, cricket, badminton, basketball, table tennis, and handball. The canteen has an excellent ambience and the food quality is above average.
Faculty: The teachers at this college are excellent. They are friendly and have the capability to teach. Some of the faculty members are ex-students from my department. The exams are difficult because they are administered by KTU. The average pass percentage is 70-80%. The duration of each semester is only about 3 months for students under KTU. However, the college is now autonomous, so things are different.
Other: I chose ECE because it has more job opportunities than other courses. However, the length of a semester is only about 3 months, which is too short. On the plus side, the college now has campus festivals and celebrations, and a system called TBI where students can do startups.

B.Tech. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering - Batch of 2025

A review of Mar Athanasius College of Engineering.
Placements: My batch is good, but there has been a gradual decrease in placements since I joined this college. Top recruiting companies like Bosch, Ascender, etc. offer at least 5-8 LPA based on the student's skills. However, I must say that the placements are just okay.
Infrastructure: The quality is just okay for the hostel and faculty members. There are other colleges that provide better infrastructure and hostel facilities. However, the faculty members are highly talented. In these circumstances, I would not recommend anyone join this college. Nevertheless, the college is one of the best colleges in Kerala.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and talented, having graduated from top colleges like IITs and NITs. They also teach the curriculum relevantly and make the students industry-ready. The semester exams are good, and the pass percentage is also satisfactory.

B.Tech. in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science - Batch of 2026
Offered by RSET - Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology
3.4
3Placements3Infrastructure4Faculty3Crowd & Campus Life4Value for Money
Life at Rajagiri providing excellence and discipline in Education.
Placements: The placements usually start mainly from the 7th semester. From what I know only around 40% of the students actually get placed usually from IBM, Wipro, and Cognizant for students in the IT and CS field. I had also heard of students rejecting offers due to low starting packages. Many also plan on going for higher studies.
Infrastructure: The college campus is amazing, with a gym, a basketball court, a farm, and 3 blocks for lectures. It's a huge campus with 2 cafes and 1 big canteen. The hostel though I must say is pretty bad for a private college, especially for the first-year girl students. The hostel fee is usually around Rs90k per annum. The food used to be terrible back when I was in my first year. But after the first year, they shift you to the way better campus hostel. They need to build a hostel facility for first-year female students since they have to travel 20 minds to and fro just for college and they have to pay extra for the bus facilities as well.
Faculty: The faculty in our department is average. Not everyone is nice. Some don't grade us well while there are other professors who do set the questions papers very lenient and are very friendly to us. The subjects are pretty average but interesting. The difficulty may vary but as of now, it isn't that difficult. The curriculum I feel needs more practical knowledge, especially in robotics and machine learning.
Other: I chose this course due to my interest in Robotics and machine learning. And I did find it interesting as the years passed by. I wish there were more resources and practical knowledge they could have provided for my course other than normal programming since AI &this is a pretty wide field where other practical knowledge can be incorporated as well.

Review about my college life.
Placements: About 80% of students were placed from our college in recent years. Our college provides better placements, which is much needed for our future experience. Top recruiting companies like Wipro, TCS, Sutherland, etc. offer placements. About 75%of students were placed in Sutherland. Our college provides better placements.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure of our college are pretty good. They provide a lab for every batch and department. For e.g.:- machines lab, mechanical lab, etc. The college provides better Wi-Fi availability. Classrooms and canteens are great. Sports facilities are also improved in our college.
Faculty: The faculty of our college are great and experienced teachers. Our teachers are friendly. They treat every student equally. We all know engineering subjects are not easy, and they are tough. But our experienced teachers teach us shortcuts and make it interesting for us.

2Placements3Infrastructure4Faculty1Crowd & Campus Life3Value for Money
If you are looking for better academic and resources the college is nice.
Placements: Placements of this college is comparable poorer than other colleges. Around 20% of students were placed. Placements training are provided even though most of the students lack this opportunity. The highest salary offered is 15 Lacs per annum and the lowest salary is around 2.5 Lacs. Companies like wipro, TCS and infosys were the top recruiters.
Infrastructure: Overall infrastructure of this college is average. A good library with a large collection of books of different types. The labs are well-equipped for practical. There is high-speed Wi-Fi inside the college. Medical facilities are also there in each block. Facilities in hostel are poorer. Food is also bad in hostel mess but food provided from canteen is pretty good. The college supports sports like kabbadi etc.
Faculty: Faculty members are well qualified and supportive. They are always available for students. They are so friendly with students. Course curriculum is relevant. Series exams are conducted regularly. Semester exams are tough it is difficult for scoring good marks. College is now turning to be autonomous.
Other: I'm currently pursuing B.Tech in CSE with ai and ml. This course was not everywhere in Kerala. So I chose this college. There are no other events conducted. We cannot enjoy the moments in college life.

KTU - APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University BTech 2024 FAQs

Q:   Is B Tech at KTU - APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University better than ILM College of Engineering and Technology, Ernakulam?

A:

KTU is just an affiliating type university.

Authorities are at TVM and they issue non-practical orders.

Faculties are stressed because even clerical work are transferred to them in form of digitization.
