Absolutely satisfied with everything associated with this college. Loved it!
Placements: Exclusive placements for M.Tech students never happened but we were allowed to sit for placements in many construction companies. The highest package offered was around 7 LPA. 50 percent students got placed from our batch of M.Tech. L&T, Simplex were some of the companies that arrived for placements.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure and facilities were one of the best in India. Since this one is a university directly under the supervision of MHRD, it had all the facilities one could seek. We have a separate, air-conditioned, advanced, digitalized Central Library that we students adore. The quality of facilities in hostels were better than some private colleges. Medical facilities was excellent and the facility to play a wide range of sports was impressive too.
Faculty: Teachers and professors are highly qualified, knowledgeable and helpful to students. We never missed a class because of their high quality teaching. Course did made us industry ready with summer open classes for students who wants to know something more.
Other: I chose this course because I had a good GATE ranking and I wanted to take transportation engineering as my specification in pursuing higher studies in civil engineering. The best thing about my course was it gave enough free time to explore other aspects of life and enjoy my campus life more. Events and fests were a thing of joy, we participated, had fun, gained knowledge and made some beautiful experiences that I'll never forget.

Very good Institute (rank-wise, 2nd among the NITs) from all aspects.
Placements: There is a wonderful opportunity for the software, and IT companies and also many people got the jobs of packages offered more than Rs. 10 LPA. There is a scope for the core engineering streams as well as the PGET. Companies like the L&T, Coal India do visit the campus regularly. Almost, all of the B.TECH students can secure a good job of more than Rs. 5 LPA, though M. Tech students do not have the same scope of getting jobs as the undergraduates. The payscales they get is much higher.
Infrastructure: One should not have any doubt on the infrastructure of the institute. There are huge lecture halls for the classrooms, a separate building for all the departments, well-equipped modern labs, ample of hostels, playground and other stuff including the swimming pool, gym centre, student activity centre, dispensary and the medical shop. The Wi-Fi facility is available in the academic area, and a LAN connectivity is available at the hostels. Many canteens are there both in the academic and the hostel areas. Hostel rooms and the entire campus is also well maintained. Every official work is done online, on the campus. I do not feel any lack of infrastructure there.
Faculty: The institute has the faculty members who are expert in their domain. Each department has an adequate number of faculty members with a strong background and experience. Though we had only 3-4 faculty members (for around 20 postgraduate students) in the transportation engineering specialisation, it was well managed by them. Other streams like the 'structures' and the 'geotech' have a good number of faculty members. The course curriculum was at par with the IIT level courses when compared. The curriculum was set, in a way such that students gets benefitted.
Other: Everything is fine in the institute, but from students' point of view, I can say the institute is too strict in attendance and the performance of the students. Also, the semester fee is very high compared to other NITs, but when a student gets a dream job, it doesn't matter.

The college is very good in infrastructure, faculty, hostel, games, and in placements.
Placements: The placements are too good for the circuital branches, for both B.Tech and M.Tech. But for non-circuital branches in B.Tech, the placement is good, but for M.Tech, it is not so much. As of now, Rourkela has no public airport (it may open from January 2018), so newcomers will definitely get benefited from that. A large number of companies come to the college with placement package of 3. 5 lacs to 25 lacs per annum. Companies like Oracle, Sun Infotech, Google, etc. come to the college. More than 200 companies come here.
Infrastructure: No one can complain about the infrastructure as it is too good. Better laboratory and lab facilities are available. The hostels are even better. Each hostel has its own gym facility with a common central gym also. All games like hockey, football, cricket, lawn tennis, throw ball, volleyball and much more with floodlight facility for playing at night are available. I like the swimming pool the most. The college has one swimming pool and one diving pool that are well-maintained.
Faculty: The faculty are good, and the course curriculum is very strict. The college has well-developed software to control your attendance and exam result, and if you do not go to class for a long, they will deduct your marks and even debar from that subject if you leave more than 14 hours of classes.
Other: The mess facility is up to the mark. The college is too big, so you need a bicycle to go to the college. Except for placement, you will enjoy this college too much. It has got 12th rank according to MHRD 2017 ranking. Area wise, this is the second biggest engineering college after IIT Kharagpur.
