Panjab University Admissions 2025: Registration, Eligibility, Last Date & Fees

Punjab University offers a four-year BE programme across eight specialisations along with an Integrated BE (Chemical) - MBA programme. Admission to both programmes is based on JEE Main. To add, the university also conducts and considers the scores of  PU LEET and PU MEET scores for lateral entry admissions. The minimum eligibility for BE and Integrated courses is Class 12 with PCM subjects from a recognised board as per JAC Chandigarh eligibility criteria. All the affiliated colleges of Panjab University offering BTech are part of JAC Chandigarh counselling.

However, for first-year BTech students, the university considers the scores of JEE Main followed by JAC counselling. Yes, admission to the Bachelor of Engineering programmes at PU is based on candidates' performance in JEE Main exam followed by counselling conducted by JAC Chandigarh. The total fee for MBA ranges between INR 42,700 and INR 6.20 lakh. This information is sourced from official website/ sanctioning body and is subject to change.  For more details and fee break-up for MBA at PU, candidates are advised to reach out to the admission office of Panjab University or the MBA-affiliated college of PU. Other than the course fee, students are required to pay the registration fee for CAT or PU MET exam depending on their admission process The application fee is INR 3,250 at UBS and INR 2,175 (PU MET) for General category candidates.

In order to be eligible to pursue MBA from a PU-affiliated institute, students must have completed their UG degrees with at least 50% aggregate. However, those with a Diploma must have at least 60% aggregate in it and along with that have at least five years of research/ teaching/ professional experience. Final admission, however, is subject to a valid score in MET exam conducted by Panjab University for MBA admission followed by GD and PI. 85% of the total final selection weightage is allocated to the MET exam and the remaining 15% of admission chances are based on the performance of the candidates in GD and PI. Panjab Univeresity MBA admissions are entirely entrance-based. For admission to MBA course at UBS and UIAMS, candidates must have a valid score of either CAT or  PU MET exams, respectively. The eligibility criteria for MBA course is to pass graduation with minimum 50% aggregate in the relevant stream. Candidates qualifying all the selection parameters will be offered seat via a university-level counselling process.

For admission to the three-year LLB programme offered by Panjab University, candidates must appear for PU LLB Entrance Test and score well. Shortlisted students will have their names appear in the merit lists. Those with their names can pay the admission fee and confirm their seat in the university. Before entrance, candidates are required to meet the minimum eligibility criteria set by the university which is a pass in any bachelor’s/ master’s degree in stream with at least 45% aggregate from Panjab University or any other University recognised by the Bar Council of India and Panjab University. The applications are available online on the official website. The application fee for General category candidates is INR 2,395 and for SC, ST and PwD category students, it is INR 1,198.  

As per the internet, BA at PU is offered across Economics, History, Sociology and Psychology specialisation, among others. However, students must select the specialisation on the basis of their interest and past academic background and not on the basis of its popularity.
