Q:   What is the effectiveness of the placement cell for B.A. programs at Pondicherry University?

A:
{Source: B.A. students & alumni}

Effectiveness of Placement Cell for B.A. Programs at Pondicherry University

Unfortunately, based on the provided student reviews and feedback, it seems that the placement cell for B.A. programs at Pondicherry University does not receive significant mention or praise from the students. This lack of discussion suggests that the placement cell may not be particularly effective in terms of securing job placements for its B.A. programme graduates.

Here's what we know:

* No students mentioned anything positive about the placement cell or their experience with it.
* None of the students discussed job offers, internships, or career counseling services offered by the placement cell.
* The focus of the student reviews was more on the infrastructure, hostel facilities, food, and sports and recreational activities, indicating that these aspects received more attention and priority.

In conclusion, while the overall infrastructure and facilities at Pondicherry University seem impressive, the lack of discussion around the placement cell suggests that it might not be a strong aspect of the university's offerings for B.A. programme graduates.

Strong faculty and industry-relevant curriculum with good facilities.
Placements: About 60-70% of students were placed in the Mechanical Engineering course. The highest salary offered was 6 LPA, the lowest 2.5 LPA, and the average around 3.5 LPA. Top recruiters included TCS, L&T, Ashok Leyland, and Hyundai. About 20% of students got internships in companies like TVS, Bosch, and local industries. Common roles offered were design engineer, production engineer, and quality analyst.
Infrastructure: The department has well-equipped labs and spacious classrooms. The library is well stocked with books and journals. Wi-Fi is decent, but the speed could be improved. The hostels are clean and provide basic amenities. The mess serves good, hygienic food. The canteen serves a variety of snacks. The college has adequate medical facilities. Sports facilities include cricket, football, and badminton.
Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified, approachable, and provide excellent teaching. The curriculum is well-structured and industry-relevant, with a focus on practical skills. The semester exams are moderately difficult, emphasizing understanding over rote learning. The pass percentage is around 85%, which reflects the effective teaching and student support.

By gaining skills, we can win.
Placements: Nearly 2 to 3 percent, but it depends on how many students join the training and placement. TCL, Infosys, Saint Gobain, solar companies are recruiting. Nearly 6 LPA to 10 LPA are offered by those companies. GATE-related advice, even coaching from any faculty, is provided.
Infrastructure: We have India's first and the largest chemical engineering lab in our department. The library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. for student availability. I am a day scholar, but I went to meet my friends in the hostel. Without security or warden permission, we can't enter the hostel. I also had food from the hostel canteen. Good food is provided by them according to the menu. No worries about food, Wi-Fi, rooms, or students. Student activities are monitored by wardens. Separate hostels for boys and girls. We have two canteens outside the hostel. Many sports and festivals are conducted. The famous festival from our college is the Rejour festival.
Faculty: In our department, faculty members from IIT, IISc, and good knowledge professors are present. We never had guilt about asking anything we needed. Our professors are like our friends and parents. They also teach discipline along with studies. Proper haircut for boys and a presentable dress code are strictly followed.
Other: The best thing is we have less competition, less syllabus, fewer labs, and less stress too. I enjoy my life and my course at PEC. Our professors conduct 25 talks (lectures from different IIT or industrial professors for our knowledge). Good career guidance is given by our faculty members.

The college must improve a lot.
Placements: There are no placements in my college. Few industries conduct walk-in interviews. There are no placements, no package is offered and no internships are offered. The course helps us to get an overall general view of all sectors, so it is easy for us to attend competitive exams.
Infrastructure: There is a library on our campus and it is useful. Classrooms are a bit old. Renovation is going on in our hostel. The quality of the food in the mess is poor. The management is working on it. We have good sports facilities. We have many clubs for different activities.
Faculty: The teachers are well qualified experienced and knowledgeable. The course has too much information which can be reduced. It makes the students stressed. Semester exams in our college are quite difficult. Most of the students pass except a few. The percentage may be around 80%.
Other: This is the only government college for agriculture in Pondicherry. There are many clubs for extracurricular activities.

Happening campus life with good teachers. Wonderful experience. It's 100% recommended.
Placements: For placement, companies like Amazon and other overseas companies come to campus. Important thing is teachers are very much involved in process and guide you through it actively. Almost 80% of students get placement. For reast of them, teachers give recommendations.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of hostel is very good, with a lift. Rooms are airy and bright. It's a little hot in Pondicherry, which is a slight issue, but other than that, it's good. Sanitation is in our own hands. Washrooms are a bit dirty by the end of the day, but each morning, cleaning ladies clean them.
Faculty: Brilliant resources and past-year papers are all provided by teachers as well as seniors. Most of your paper is set by the PYQs, which turn out to be a great help. Teachers are good and they help them throughout. Passing percentage is 50%, and teachers are generous in marking.
Other: For my course, I love French, which is a little personal, but apart from that, campus life is very happening. There is no curfew time for hostels or campus, and campus is huge. Almost all festivals are celebrated with great zeal.

However, there are no specific recruiting companies for our course. After completing the course, we can pursue careers in archaeology, museology, or research. Top roles offered are similar to those of any post-graduate.
Infrastructure: Classrooms have 74 students, but there's no better facility for students. Library is not good, and many books we need are not available there. Wi-Fi connectivity in library is poor. Facilities in the hostel are decent. The quality of the food is very bad. Medical facility is also poor.
Faculty: Faculty members are well-experienced in our department. They are helpful and friendly and their teaching quality is good. Course curriculum is relevant as history is being rewritten by some people. Semester exams are easy. Pass percentage is 50%, and not much difficult.

Pondicherry university review.
Placements: The percentage of students getting a placement is very low. Mostly MBA and commerce students get placed; as of our course, there were no core company placements. We are still working on the placement thing but surely in the coming year the scenario will be different.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is very slow, though it is in the bioinformatics department. Apart from the department rest, other facilities are good, well maintained and spacious. Food is mostly not good, but manageable. You can easily get food outside the campus gate if you want to eat something outside .
Faculty: Teachers are good but some are not very helpful. The curriculum needs to be updated at least for my course, and semester exams are not that tough to manage. You can easily score a decent score but for gaining it, you will need to work hard to keep up with the subject, such as bioinformatics.
Other: I chose this considering its wide application, interdisciplinary nature and job-oriented nature.
