A:

At the undergraduate level, this deemed University offers BTech across 30 specialisations along with Integrated MTech across two specialisations. Spread over four years and eight semesters, admission to BTech is possible at SASTRA Deemed University via two methods:

Stream 1: JEE Mains + Class 12 marks (50% weightage given to each), for admission to 50% of the total seats

Stream 2: Class 12 marks (100% weightage), for admission to the remaining 50%

The following qualifications must be met by the students to secure admission to BTech at Sastra:

  • Candidates must have obtained 60% aggregate in their Class 12 with Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science, and Biology from a recognised board.

Q:   I got 79 percentile in JEE Mains and 66% in Class 12. Will I get admission to Sastra University, Thanjavur?

A:

Based on the information you've provided, your JEE Mains percentile of 79 is decent and could be a competitive score for admission to Sastra University, Thanjavur. However, your class 12 percentage of 66% might be slightly below the usual cutoff for some courses at the university. To increase your chances of admission, I recommend checking Sastra University's official website or contacting their admission department for the specific cutoff scores and eligibility criteria for the course you are interested in.

Sastra University is known for its competitive admission process, and the cutoff marks can vary each year. It's essential to have a clear understanding of the admission requirements and eligibility criteria to make an informed decision.

In case your JEE Mains percentile meets or exceeds the cutoff set by Sastra University for your desired course, you stand a good chance of getting admission. However, if the cutoff is higher, you may consider other options or explore different courses that align with your JEE Mains score and class 12 percentage.

Remember, admissions to universities can be competitive, and it's always a good idea to have backup options. There are many other reputable institutions that offer quality education in engineering and other fields. Research thoroughly, consider all available choices, and apply to multiple universities to increase your chances of getting accepted.

I wish you the best of luck with your admission process, and I hope you find the right university and course that aligns with your academic goals and aspirations!"

Review of SASTRA (Deemed to be University).
Placements: More than 90% of students got placed. The packages offered range from 4 LPA to 42 LPA (Wells Fargo). The atmosphere is liberal, and it's totally based on the student's resume to get placed. Faculty members are knowledgeable, and the research hub of Sastra offers lab facilities and helps you with research. It is the best part of this college which offers all kinds of labs for research. Internships are frequently offered from your 3rd year, for which you can apply if interested. Google visits the college every two years and selects students. Various tech giants visit the college for placements. 6.5 and above CGPA ensures that you get placed for sure. EEE smart grid and electric vehicle are the newest courses with good syllabi. More interesting and top roles offered are electric vehicle designer, machines engineer, battery management engineer, electrical engineer, power electronics specialist etc.
Infrastructure: The college has labs like cancer research lab, labs in partnership with TATA, renewable energy labs, electric vehicle simulation lab, plant culture lab, and more fascinating labs. The library here is amazing with Lacs of books and the best ambiance. Free Wi-Fi is available on the whole campus. Only vegetarian food items are available inside the campus with decent taste. The hostel can be rated 4 out of 5, and it's good enough to stay peacefully. The university has a hospital with all the facilities. Colosseum (sports event), Daksh (technical and games event), and Kurukshetra (cultural event), are conducted here. Every classroom has a projector and screen. Wi-Fi routers and laptops are allowed during class times.
Faculty: All the faculty members guide you through your whole 4 years of research and various activities. This college offers various club activities and encourages students with more extracurricular activities. They will teach from the exam point of view. To gain in-depth subject knowledge, you must learn from the first year. The syllabus itself is designed such that learning all those topics will give you enough idea and knowledge provided you are interested in it. Semester exams can be rated 4 out of 5 in terms of difficulty. Around 60% of students pass the exams. The rest of the students get arrears. Enough study time is provided. All the decisions made by the university are for students' welfare and are understandable.
Other: Campus life is awesome, peaceful and enjoyable. Fests are the best part of this college. The best fests like Kurukshastra, Colosseum and Daksh are famous among the south Indian universities and also known up to the Northern part of India. The campus is over 232 acres. Mobile data connectivity is average. The best thing about my course is the project guidance given by faculty members and curriculum design. Electives and core courses are well designed for us to gain good knowledge of the subject. Learning experience here is amazing.
