DTU Hostel Facilities: Fees, Rooms, Rules, Mess, Food

Established in the year 1941 as Delhi Polytechnic, the Delhi Technical University campus offers students many infrastructural facilities including proper hostel and boarding facilities. The campus is well-equipped with all the modern facilities for student and teacher use like a well-stocked library with a collection of around 2,03,064 books, upgraded laboratories, a sports complex auditorium and a cafeteria along with medical facilities. The hostel facilities at the DTU are satisfactory, catering to each and every need of the students.

The hostel facilities were initially made available only for students who didn’t belong to Delhi as well as for students living far from the campus. The hostel rooms are big and well-furnished. the buildings are sturdy and capable of accommodating 2600 students. There are two types of hostels on the campus, one being the girl's hostel and the other being the boy's hostel. The occupancy for both hostels is different. The natural environment and surroundings are picturesque. While as the social environment on the hostel grounds as well as the whole campus is diverse and friendly with people coming from different backgrounds.

Boys' hostel at DTU

The boy's hostel accommodates 1800 students. There are a total of 11 hostels at Delhi Technical University, including

  2. Sir C.V. Raman Hostel
  3.  Vahamir Hostel
  4. Sir J.C. Bose Hostel
  5. Aryabhatt Hostel
  6. Ramanujam Hostel
  7. Dr A. P. J. Abdul Kalam University
  8. Homi Jehangir Bhabha Hostel
  9. Sir Vishveshwarya Hostel
  10. Type II block - 1,2,3,6&7 Hostel
  11. Type III blocks-1&2 Hostel

Each one of these hostels has its own gymnasium and common rooms. The hostels are fully air-conditioned and are connected to the campus wifi network. The wifi connectivity allows students to browse the internet and they have full access to the online library, which they can use for their research works. Each hostel is appointed a warden to help with the assistance and supervision of the students.

DTU, originally known as Delhi College of Engineering (DCE), is a famous college with top-notch facilities and services located on a vast 164-acre campus. There is a library which is extensively digitised and offers online access to many databases and periodicals. With facilities including football, cricket, hockey, and tennis fields, basketball courts, and a gymnasium, DTU's expansive Sports Complex is a hive of activity.

Girls' hostel at DTU

The girl's hostel accommodates 800 students. There are 6 hostels in the girl's wing hostel at the campus including:

  2. Kalpana Chawala Hostel
  3. Type-III Block 1 Girls Hostel
  4. Type-III Block 2 Girls Hostel
  5. Type-II Block-1 Girls Hostel
  6. Type-II Block-2,3, and 4 Girls Hostel

The girl's hostel is well equipped and sufficient in terms of area. The rooms are properly ventilated and the students are provided with all the proper basic necessities. There is a proper wifi connection for the utilisation of students. There is proper security and each building has its own warden to supervise the students. The environment and surroundings are picturesque

Facilities at DTU

The facilities at Delhi Technical University are plenty. The esteemed institute is great not just academically but also at providing its students with all the required facilities. The campus hospital being one of the facilities provided to the students is a 20-bed hospital block with two experienced medical practitioners. The sports facilities at DTU are excellent. With different sports courts for different sports, and a sports council called Arena. To cater to student’s banking needs the university has its on-campus working branch of SBI to carry out transactions. The campus also has an auditorium that can seat up to 500 people, which is used to organise talks, events and felicitations. The university is updated in terms of technology using only the best computer systems and the wifi connectivity is great on the campus with a total of 95 access points.

Student Mess and Rules

The mess services are provided to all the hostels, catering to all of their needs residing within the campus. There is a set menu for each day of the week. The timings for the breakfast, lunch and dinner are set. The quality of the food at the mess is good and objectively much better as compared to other hostel mess food.

The students are required to follow certain rules. Most important of all is to keep the curfew in mind as breaking a curfew is breaking a big rule. Breaking or defacing appliances, walls and furniture is also considered as breaking a big rule. Any form of hazing or ragging is banned since the university has a strict non-ragging policy.

The students are provided hostel rooms on the basis of their admission, the year of their respective courses, and the distance from the campus. The payment for the hostel is done along with the registration for the institute which is also done online.
