A review about Anna University.
Placements: The placements are good for IT, CSE, ECE and EEE but for my branch, it is quite opposite. Placements and package are less for my course. The college is not good for my course. Even there is no accreditation for my course. Don't study B.E. in Agricultural and Irrigation Engineering course at my college, but it is good for IT, EC, CSE, EEE and mechanical.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is good. Wi-Fi is available always. Labs are good. For sports and games, there is a big playground. Hostel rooms are good. Overall, our red building campus is like a mini house. 24/7 medical facility is available. Gym facility is also there for both boys and girls with AC. Even NRIs study in our college for a low cost and everyone can afford it. Scholars ships are available for SC, ST, BC and even for OC students.
Faculty: Faculty are well-experienced. Everyone is eligible for what they are teaching. Concepts are clear while learning. Overall, everyone is good for their field of studies. Projector based education is given. Everyone will clear your doubts without any hesitation.
Other: 3 cultural fests are organised, and they were named as Agni and Techofes. Kurukshetra is a technical symposium.

Fantastic college and so many Good memories.
Placements: Only a few students will get core companies others will sit only in IT (bulk) companies. Percentage of placement is little less when compared to other departments. We will get placements only in off campus like Kaveri Irrigation The starting pay will be around 15k per month.
Infrastructure: CEG hostels is the one of the best hostels in India. The food they provide will be at par level. Wi-Fi router are available all over the campus only laptops will be connected to it. Ramanujan Computing Center (RCC) will allow you 24/7 for browsing and CEG library is the best.
Faculty: College of engineering Guindy has the best faculty members in Tamil Nadu engineering colleges. They are well knowledgeable and highly qualified and they are ready to help you with any doubts ( Except some professor) They will teach you very well and guide you for the better future.

Review of CEG - College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University.
Placements: Overall the placements have declined this year. In our class out of 47, 15 people have placed majorly in the IT firm, which indicates that our highest salary package offered was 6 LPA and the lowest salary package offered was 3 LPA. There were a few friends of mine from other departments who got placed in reputed firms like Samsung. Some companies offered the highest salary package ranging from 18 LPA - 21 LPA.
Infrastructure: CEG, has very good infrastructure provided with all the facilities. We had routers all around the campus. It has well-furnished classrooms with projectors and higher numbers of labs and equipment. It is known for its tasty and cheap canteen foods.
Faculty: For agriculture course, we are supposed to attend a mandatory implant training/intern during our third year. Thereby we got good industrial training. We don't have any restrictions to go for industrial visits. We can go as many as we require. Our course AIMS in equipping ourselves good in irrigation, and we have experienced professors who have been doing various state/national level irrigation projects. Thereby they teach us pretty good. As far agriculture is concerned, there were no sufficient faculty members, and there were zero practical courses for it. We had facilities to learn food engineering well but not pure agriculture. Thus in precise, it teaches best irrigation course and theory agriculture.
Other: We can develop our extracurricular and curricular activities to the best on our campus. Only students organise everything right from cultural like Agni, Techofes, Kurukshetra and department symposiums, and industrial visits. Beneath that, we also have 16 clubs, NSS, NSO, YRO and NCC. One can learn good management skills by being in this college. Apart, we can also earn many industrial relations. If we wish to do anything out of your passion, the college gives full freedom to execute it.

Students also asked

Q:   Does College of Engineering Guindy accept JEE score?

A:
Yes, the Government College of Engineering (CEG) in Guindy, Chennai accepts JEE Main scores for admission to its B.Tech programs

However, some colleges conduct their own entrance exams instead of relying on JEE scores.

For Tamil Nadu students, admissions are based on normalised aggregate marks in Class XII PCM through TNEA counselling. For other state students, admissions are based on Anna University counselling.

Other engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu that accept JEE Main scores include:

  • National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy
  • Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Chennai
  • Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy (SASTRA University), Thanjavur

Absolutely, the Government College of Engineering (CEG) in Guindy, Chennai recognizes the importance of JEE Main scores for admission into its B.Tech programs. However, it's noteworthy that certain institutions may opt for their own entrance exams as an alternative to JEE scores.

For aspiring engineers from Tamil Nadu, the admission process is distinct. It hinges on the normalized aggregate marks in Class XII Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, assessed through the TNEA counseling. On the flip side, students from other states find their gateway through Anna University counseling.

Diversifying the options, other reputable engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu also open their doors to JEE Main achievers. The National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Trichy, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) in Chennai, and the Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy (SASTRA University) in Thanjavur are among the esteemed institutions welcoming candidates based on their JEE Main scores.

This dynamic approach to admissions ensures that aspiring engineers have multiple avenues to pursue their academic and professional dreams, fostering a diverse and inclusive environment in the realm of engineering education.

Hello Joseph, with this cutoff score, it is difficult to get irrigation engineering at CEG campus of Anna University. But you may try your luck at the counselling since the cutoff is based on the caste like BC, SC, ST etc. All the best!
