Review of College of Engineering, Anna University.
Placements: Almost 85% of students got placed in our course. The highest salary pacakge offered was 9 LPA by Accenture. The minimum salary package offered was 6 LPA by Tata Power. The lowest salary package offered was 5 LPA by ESRI. The average salary package offered was 4 LPA by Mindtree. The top roles offered are clerical and data analyst. The minimum salary package offered was 5 LPA by Federal Bank a clerical. The lowest salary package offered was 5 LPA by Tata IQ as a data analyst. Internships are also offered in government institutions and educational organisations.
Infrastructure: The laboratory is well-equipped, and several books are available in the library aligned to geoinformatics and earth observation. Wi-Fi is available free of cost. There are both regular hostels as well as NRI hostels. For regular hostels, the fee structure ranges between Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 per semester. There are 2 food courts on campus. There is a health center as well. We have a sports board with various games.
Faculty: Our course curriculum is not updated. Semester exams are moderate. If we study properly then we can score good marks. We require a lot of self-learning in this college.
Other: I opted for this course because of my interest in it. This course has a multidisciplinary flavor. Our campus life is decent. Clubs, events, festivals, symposiums, and cultural fests are very good on our campus.

The college where natures bounds with happiness and where clubs are for the improvement of society.
Placements: About 72% of students have been placed out. The maximum salary package offered will be 6 LPA and the minimum salary package offered is 2 LPA. The top company is ESRI. Nearly 60% of students got internship offers in various core and IT companies. The top roles are geo processor and HR. All on-campus and off-campus placements and internships also happen. Master's at foreign universities are also available at ease.
Infrastructure: Survey labs with high modern equipment are available in our college. Other works have been made using processing software. The food is affordable and the hostel Wi-Fi is maintained. But the window shades and sunshades are not properly constructed. Some foods are not so good enough.
Faculty: Teachers do not teach anything in our college. But they make us learn from our mistakes and guide us. The course curriculum is highly structured for the whole semester period. Many self understanding stages are made. PO, CO, and PEO mapping are strictly followed and guided.
Other: Every year, all departments of the college conduct inter and intra symposiums provided on duty. Many technical and nontechnical events have been conducted for students. There occurs non-tech festivals like Agni and technical festivals like Techofes and Battle of Brains Kuruksetra.

This is the best place to transform yourself.
Placements: When it comes to placements, CEG always stands ahead in offering high paid jobs for students. As far as the placements of the geoinformatics brach are concerned, you will have a few numbers of core companies, but they offer low packages. However, mass recruiting companies like TCS, CTS, and Infosys, etc., visit the campus for placements. There is a chance for you to get into product-based companies if you have good knowledge of programming languages. About 75% of the students who attended placement drives were offered jobs. The highest salary package offered was 6 LPA, and the lowest was 3 LPA. Roles like GIS analyst, GIS engineer and system engineer are offered for students. If you are interested in pursuing your master's degree, then this course provides a great platform.
Infrastructure: Although CEG is one of the oldest colleges, it always holds its magnificent look making the students admire her beauty. You will have access to the largest library, free Wi-Fi facility, a big sports ground, and 24*7 medical facilities. The quality of the food offered is good, and the prices are very low. There are multiple canteens available here. You can get everything that you want on the campus.
Faculty: Institute of Remote Sensing offers the degree B.E in geoinformatics. There are a good number of professors with good knowledge about the subject. Most of the professors who are working here are not teachers by profession. They are appointed to take care of GIS and RS based projects in colleges around the state and other states. So when it comes to studies, students need to study on their own most of the times.
Other: The college organises its annual event named Agni, and we also have events like Kurukshetra, Techofes, intra-college symposium, Sangarsh, Freshers' day, intercollege symposium, etc. Every month the college organises an event or fest amidst of your assessments and semesters.

CEG - a beautiful platform for self improvement.
Placements: There are huge recruiters such as Amazon, Microsoft as well as bulk recruiters such as cognizant, tcs, Infosys, Accenture. The placement is overall good but it depends on your department background. There are many job offers to core departments such as computer Science, ECE, mechanical.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very good. Ground, gym, swimming pool, Wi-Fi, library, canteens and so on. The campus is very beautiful. The hostels are okayish. The mess food is not that good. However the canteen is good and pocket friendly. And very near the campus are many hotels and shops. The labs are well maintained and most of the classrooms are smart classrooms. There are many auditoriums too.
Faculty: The faculty are very knowledgeable but there won't be any spoon-feeding. If you have the interest to learn, then you can shine. You can't expect the faculty to teach you everything and help you out all the time. It depends on your ability to leverage the knowledgeable professors for learning things. The course curriculum is very clear and followed widely.

Awesome campus. We can learn a lot apart from curriculum and get good exposure.
Placements: The core branches have promising placements with at least 5 LPA as the minimum package. But this is not the case for other branches. As far as my department is concerned, the placements are very poor. Placement cell plays a double game. They are least bothered about minority departments and the non-core branches.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is awesome. You will get an ethnic and historic feel. We have trees everywhere, fresh air, esthetic feel, peacefulness on the campus. We are gifted to have such a beautiful campus. Especially drainage facilities inside the campus are perfect. In spite of heavy downpour, you can't find a single drop of water stagnation in the roads.
Faculty: The faculty members are old fashioned. They don't update themselves. They stick on to the old notes and technology. The course curriculum is not up to the industrial requirement. The syllabus and the education pattern is outdated. Practical knowledge is very lag. The syllabus doesn't provide any venture for exploring knowledge.

Students also asked

Q:   Does College of Engineering Guindy accept JEE score?

A:
Yes, the Government College of Engineering (CEG) in Guindy, Chennai accepts JEE Main scores for admission to its B.Tech programs

However, some colleges conduct their own entrance exams instead of relying on JEE scores.

For Tamil Nadu students, admissions are based on normalised aggregate marks in Class XII PCM through TNEA counselling. For other state students, admissions are based on Anna University counselling.

Other engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu that accept JEE Main scores include:

  • National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy
  • Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Chennai
  • Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy (SASTRA University), Thanjavur

Absolutely, the Government College of Engineering (CEG) in Guindy, Chennai recognizes the importance of JEE Main scores for admission into its B.Tech programs. However, it's noteworthy that certain institutions may opt for their own entrance exams as an alternative to JEE scores.

For aspiring engineers from Tamil Nadu, the admission process is distinct. It hinges on the normalized aggregate marks in Class XII Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, assessed through the TNEA counseling. On the flip side, students from other states find their gateway through Anna University counseling.

Diversifying the options, other reputable engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu also open their doors to JEE Main achievers. The National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Trichy, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) in Chennai, and the Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy (SASTRA University) in Thanjavur are among the esteemed institutions welcoming candidates based on their JEE Main scores.
