College hostel has vibes like home.
Placements: Okay, honestly, our department isn't interested in placements as much as it is in doing research. But as I was the head volunteer for the 2020 placement session, I observed that almost all Engineering students got jobs. The placement percentage is around 85-90%. Regarding internships, if you have applied abroad to any company through the Training and Placement Office, you will get it with the essential qualifications and skills. The institute also frequently shares emails about internship opportunities, which are mostly research-based.
Infrastructure: The hostel facility is really amazing. Students get to stay in Mandakini Hotel, which is the newest 10-floor building with all facilities and amenities. It has automatic washing machines, amazing washrooms, good rooms, windows, fans, desks, chairs, almirahs, and everything. The food at IIT Madras is good; we have veg, non-veg, and north-south options, and the menu changes every 14 days. We can also switch the mess every month.
Faculty: The faculty-to-student ratio is good, and I believe the faculty is more focused on operations. This course is suitable for people with a teaching or strong engineering background. The faculty’s credentials and approach to teaching and mentorship are amazing. They are very friendly and approachable, and their academic excellence is demonstrated by the number of papers they have written, awards they have won, and their vast industry experience.
Other: The annual cultural fest at IIT Madras has been amazing, especially Dom's, which also has a separate fest of its own. The library is excellent, and the technological provisions within the classrooms are really good. We have smart classes with PowerPoint presentations, big screens, and smart touch displays. Sports and extracurricular activity opportunities are great. We do have less time for them, but still, it is good. Student-run groups, clubs, and portals are exceptionally well managed.

It is one of the best colleges.
Placements: The placement cell of our college is good. Top recruiting companies are TCS, Wipro, and Infosys. A few companies visit our college to provide good jobs for students. Almost 70% of students got placed. The salary package offered is 8 LPA. The average salary package offered is 12 LPA.
Infrastructure: The hostel is amazing. I like living in the hostel rooms. The hostel rooms are good. Around two students can stay in one room. The registration of the hostel is accomplished at the time of admission. The hostel fee is affordable. The food served in the canteen is good. They provide us good diet.
Faculty: Our teachers are good and friendly with students. Their teaching methods are very advanced. They are highly qualified in their fields. Some of them are Ph.D. holders. Our exams are conducted every semester. Exams are hard to pass.
Other: I opted for this course because I liked this course. The course is very good.

I am extremely satisfied with my experience at IITM in my master's in chemistry.
Placements: From our batch until now, only 1 placement was offered, and it was provided to me. It can be confirmed by the placement team. The highest salary package offered was 8 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was 4 LPA. Edtech companies like Byju's, etc., and pharma industries visit here. Top roles offered are a subject expert or research associate.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is excellent here, and there is Wi-Fi. Labs are pretty good. Classrooms are very good, and the library is very good. Support staff members are cooperative. The hostel has all the amenities which one can ask for. There is a great mess, especially South Indian food serving mess. There are superb medical facilities. Sports and games are restricted in Covid times.
Faculty: There are very helpful teachers here, and they clear all doubts. They focus more on research-related topics and give a brief explanation of the opportunities one may get in the future. The curriculum is relevant. After all, it is an IIT, so in the 4th semester, students can opt for electives according to their interests. I am extremely satisfied with the course. There is no option of specialisation at present during the second year. Exams are moderately difficult if you go through class reading materials. The pass percentage is above 90%.
Other: I am interested in research, so I chose this course. In chemistry, we focus more on learning rather than mugging up. They should provide more internships and workshop opportunities. I am availing institute studentship for excellence in merit. Events and fest are great, but there is no gathering during Covid.

I'm not much satisfied with the placements offered, course curriculum and hostel facilities.
Placements: The highest salary package offered was 9 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was 3 LPA. Top recruiting companies/institutes were Byju's, Syngene, etc. Around 3-4 students got internships from our course, but they got in some research institutes like IISC, etc. Associate trainee and associate faculty members are top roles offered in our course.
Infrastructure: Facilities available in our department are good. There are various labs, average Wi-Fi and worst classrooms with the worst benches. There is no library. Hostel facilities are also average. Even you will feel like you are not staying in the hostel of an IIT.
Faculty: Teachers here are very knowledgeable and qualified, but they are not much helpful. The teaching quality has also been average. The curriculum was not relevant to the course. Semester exams were a little bit difficult.

I'm extremely satisfied and proud to be a student of IITM. It has good infrastructure & facilitiies.
Placements: IITM has a large number of students getting placed in top companies each year. The M.Sc chemistry students mostly get placed in the pharmaceutical, software, and educational sectors. Companies like Zydus, Cadila, Byju's, Unacademy, Flipkart, Trexquant, etc., are mostly involved in this regard.
Infrastructure: Our hostel has an inbuilt LAN port, which can be accessed if you have a LAN cable and it is to be renewed daily. The department building has a Wi-Fi network that can be accessed by LDAP credentials. Classrooms are closed for now at least, considering the impact of COVID-19. The labs in the institute are some of the best and advanced in India, with advanced laboratory equipment and qualified lab assistants. Hostels have good facilities, water is supplied by water cans, every room has a LAN port for internet connectivity and the rooms are good enough for accommodation. The washrooms are cleaned daily. In some hostels, students can avail the use of washing machines, refrigerators, and other advanced equipment. The mess and the canteen give good quality food. There is a hospital in the institute that is open 24 hours a week. There are also excellent facilities for racquet sports, cricket, football, hockey, athletics, swimming, etc. There is also a gymnasium. Currently due to the impact of COVID-19 only racquet sports and athletics are permitted.
Faculty: IITM has some of the most qualified and eminent professors in chemistry at least. I expect things to be the same in other areas of education. The quality of teaching is one of the best in India. The course composition is ideal for a student to cope up with. The semester exams are moderate to slightly difficult. The majority of the exam contents come from the class teachings, with the view that every student passes the examination.
Other: Our batch in IIT is not only bound by education, but we also share each other's feelings. In fact, we are more of a family than a mere batch of students. Studying in an IIT is a special achievement in itself for each student, given that the IITs are the topmost institutes in India. Getting to interact with eminent professors, keeping in proximity with the most talented and intellectual minds, working in advanced experimental labs as well as the beautiful campus are some of the perks of an IIT, which fills a student's mind with happiness, vigor, and passion. Chemistry is a field of science that is central to today's developing world. There is virtually no area in Science which do not have the slightest application of chemistry. Chemistry may be a developing Science, but in India, IITM has one of the best setups in this field. Due to COVID-19, we are only limited to 4 months on the campus rather than 2 whole years. This is one of the major challenges that need to be addressed since the impact of COVID-19 is strong enough to affect the on-campus education of future students. Supplementing the quality of offline education into online education is the biggest challenge that IITM faces now, as far as motivating the students is concerned.

A:

Yes, there are many other courses for which the selection criteria are different and the prescribed entrance exam is also other than JEE-Main and JEE-Advanced. Below are some of the courses offered at IIT Madras along with their eligibility criteria and entrance exam:

Admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) is highly competitive and the admission process is based on the candidate's JEE Advanced rank. That being said, it's important to remember that JEE rank is not the only factor that IITs consider during the admission process. Other factors such as academic performance, extracurricular activities, and achievements in related fields may also be taken into account. Additionally, some IITs offer other admission channels like the Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) scheme, which allows foreign nationals to apply for admission to IITs based on their SAT scores. It's always best to check the official IIT Madras website for the most up-to-date information on their admission process, eligibility criteria, and other requirements.

Candidates seeking admission to the BSc programme offered at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras are required to meet the IIT Madras BSc eligibility criteria.
