Candidates must have passed 10+2 examination or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory Subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects in year 2023, 2024 conducted by respective Boards. Candidates should have secured the mentioned marks in the Class 12th examination or be in the top 20 percentile in Class 12th examination conducted by respective Boards. Candidates who are appearing in the Class 12th / equivalent examination in 2025 irrespective of their age, are also eligible. Note: List of qualifying examination(QE): i). The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc. ii). Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University. iii). Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy iv). Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects. v). Any Public School/ Board/ University examination in India or any foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). vi). Higher Secondary Certificate Vocational Examination. vii). A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least 3 years duration. viii). General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level. ix). High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva. x). Candidates who have completed the Class XII (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class XII Examination. xi). In case the Class XII Examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination earlier.

NIT Raipur is good for engineering.
Placements: NIT Raipur is the best college for mining engineering. It was established in 1956 by the government of Chhattisgarh for mining and metallurgy. Placements for mining engineers are good, with an average package of approximately 12 LPA. Last year, the highest package was 55 LPA and the minimum package was 10 LPA.
Infrastructure: NIT Raipur has excellent laboratory facilities, with good lab teachers who explain the experiments very well. The Wi-Fi speed is good, and the library is fully air-conditioned with comfortable seating for studying. However, hostel facilities are only available for high-ranking students, and the mess food is only average.
Faculty: NIT Raipur has excellent laboratory facilities, with good lab teachers who explain the experiments very well. The teachers are very helpful, especially during exam periods. The exams feel like board exams, and cheating is not allowed, with three or four teachers monitoring each room.
Other: My batch is very good. There are 94 students in my batch at NIT Raipur. The mining branch at NIT Raipur is good because Chhattisgarh is famous for its mines, and the placement for the mining branch is excellent.

NIT Raipur mining department is worthy to choose. You'll not regret choosing this branch.
Placements: In NIT Raipur, mining engineering is considered as one of the branches. The campus placement of the mining engineering students is decent, around 72%, because most of the students choose the GATE exam and prepare for the government sector job. In 2023, the highest package was around 55 LPA the lowest was around 5.6 LPA and the average one was around 13.7 LPA. The top recruiting companies are Adobe, Hindustan Copper Limited, Tech Mahendra, etc. ACC, Ambuja, Lagarde, etc. are the companies that come for internships. Geologists, researchers, etc. are the top roles offered.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is also good enough, as we can expect from a good engineering college. Classrooms are good according to necessity. There are smart classes, labs are well maintained, and the library contains mostly all necessary books. Hostels are average, hostel mess is good enough, medical facilities are available here, and most of the games and sports are played here.
Faculty: The faculty is well educated. Teachers are very helpful for the students. They try to connect everyone in the classroom. The curriculum is a little old-fashioned. The semester exams are not very difficult. These exams can be easily cleared by solving only PYQs from the last two to three years.

Review: NIT Raipur Mining branch.
Placements: About 70 % of students got placed at NIT Raipur the previous year. The highest package was 55 Lakh on campus and 1.5 crore off campus. The average package delivered to the students was 10 Lakh and the median was 9 Lakh. Many big companies like Google, Wipro, Infosys, and Tata steal arrive here.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not so good. The campus is small, about 80 acres. Classes are well-equipped with projectors and the campus has a Wi-Fi facility also. The library has a good environment for study. The sports complex is there, a volleyball and a badminton ground is also here.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified and knowledgeable. Teaching quality is good. You have to study for semester exams otherwise you will not pass the exam. The curriculum is quite relevant and it makes students industry-ready. Overall 90 percent of students pass every year.
Other: I am a mining branch student. I opted for this course because I have an interest in it.

The average salary package varies according to the branch, generally ranging from 6 to 10 lacs per annum. IT and Software firms like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, Cognizant, and Microsoft visit for hiring. Core engineering companies like L&T, Tata Steel, Vedanta, Adani, and Siemens hire students. Consulting firms like Deloitte, PwC, and KPMG also visit for the campus drive. Finance and Analytics companies like Goldman Sachs, Citibank, and Mu Sigma are the top recruiters. The placements cell actively assists students in securing internships which are critical for gaining practical experience and enhancing employability. Be happy where you are; I would rate it 7/10.
Placements: Ninety-two percent of students are placed in the mining engineering department. 55 lakh per annum is the highest package, and a minimum of 8 lakh per annum. Mass recruiter Vedanta Coal India NCL. Almost 100 percent internship in various mines. Management trainee in NCL and Secl.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure in NIT Raipur is not very good as there is no hostel facility for lower ranks; only merit-based hostels are given to 900 people out of 5,500 first-year students. Wi-Fi is not working properly, and sports facilities are not too good, but the yoga facility is awesome.
Faculty: The teachers are more knowledgeable as they are scholars from various top institutes in our country. Their teaching is also good, but we engineers study one day before the exam. The curriculum exerts too much pressure and paint for students. Semester exams are difficult as they do not provide a single-day gap. The pass percentage is 35 percent for the top scorers of the exam.
Other: The best thing about my branch is my government job.
