How are the JEE Advanced 2023 Toppers Decided?

The toppers of JEE Advanced 2023 are purely based on the marks secured by the candidates in the examination. In case 2 or more candidates get the same marks in the exam, tie-breaking is done to decide the ranks. The tie-breaking criteria to decide the ranks are as follows:

Q:   Should I take a drop for JEE Advanced?

A:
If you feel that you are not fully prepared for JEE Advanced and need more time to study and improve your skills, then taking a drop and preparing again can be a good option. This will give you more time to focus on your weaknesses, take additional coaching classes or online courses, and practice solving more problems. On the other hand, if you feel that you have prepared well and are confident about your abilities, then appearing for JEE Advanced this year may be the right decision for you. It is important to weigh the benefits and risks of each option and consider factors such as your academic goals, financial situation, and personal circumstances. Ultimately, the decision to take a drop or appear for JEE Advanced should be based on your individual situation and goals, and it is advisable to seek guidance from a trusted mentor or advisory to help you make an informed decision.

Q:   Do they provide separate facilities for PWD candidates in JEE exam?

A:

Yes, if you are a PWD candidate, then you have to show the original certificate at the exam center and such candidates are given a separate rooms for taking the exam. Also, a “person with benchmark disability” (with at least 40% impairment) is eligible for PwD reservation – 5% seats in each of OPEN, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, and ST category seats.

Additionally, PwD candidates with benchmark disability (with at least 40% impairment) can avail the services of a scribe (amanuensis). For this, candidates must opt for this option at the time of the online registration for JEE (Advanced) by submitting the request in the prescribed format. The requisition, along with a copy of the PwD certificate or a copy of the certificate of Dyslexia (Severe), should be uploaded at the time of online registration for JEE (Advanced).

Q:   When and where will the details of JEE Advanced 2024 be released?

A:

The dates of JEE Advanced 2024 has been announced on November 23 on the official website. The exam will be held on May 26, 2024 and the online application process will start from April 27, 2024.

Q:   What is the JEE Advanced tie breaking policy?

A:

If the JEE Advanced aggregate marks scored by two or more candidates are the same, then the following tie-break policy will be used for awarding ranks: Step 1: Candidates having higher positive marks will be awarded higher rank. If the tie breaking criterion at Step 1 fails to break the tie, then the following criterion at Step 2 will be followed. Step 2: Higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Mathematics. If this does not break the tie, higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Physics. If there is a tie even after this, candidates will be assigned the same rank.

  • Candidates having higher positive marks will be awarded a higher rank.
  • If a tie exists then a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Mathematics.
  • If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Physics.
  • If there is a tie even after this, candidates will be assigned the same rank.
