The candidates aspiring to take admission to the undergraduate programs at IITs for the year 2024 would have to appear in Paper-1(for BE/BTech) of JEE Main 2024. Based on the performance in Paper-1 (for BE/BTech) of JEE Main 2024, top 2,50,000 candidates from all categories would qualify for JEE Advanced 2024. Admission to IITs will be based on category-wise All India Rank (AIR) in JEE Advanced subject to the conditions as mentioned in JEE Advanced 2024 Website. The Organising Committee of JEE Advanced 2024 had earlier announced changes in the JEE Advanced syllabi making it more aligned to the existing JEE Main Syllabus & CBSE Board.

Q:   How many months are required to prepare for JEE Mains exam?

A:
The time period required to complete the JEE Main preparation depends mainly on the students. Every student has their own pace of study. Ideally, 6-month time is good enough to complete the JEE Main preparation. Students who have started preparing from class 11 or 12 can easily prepare for JEE Main. In 6 months considering the topics of JEE syllabus have already been studied in classes 11 and 12. JEE Main preparation is most effective with classes 11 and 12 as almost 90-95 percent of topics are similar in both exams. This way students can easily complete the entire JEE Main. Syllabus as well as the syllabus of classes 11 and 12. After the board exams, students get 2-3 months' time where they can focus entirely on JEE Main. Students who have started late for the JEE Main exam can make a 6-month plan where in the first three months they have to focus on revising the syllabus studied in classes 11 and 12. In the next two months focus on solving questions of JEE Main and analyzing the mistakes being made, if any. The last month should be focused on solving mock tests and JEE Main previous year question papers.

Q:   How to crack JEE Mains in first attempt?

A:

Hi aspirant!

Clearing the JEE Main exam in first attempt is not a difficult task. If we see the year over year statistics, the ratio of students who clear JEE Main in first attempt is high in comparison to students who dropped a year after class 12. One thing that makes it easy to clear JEE Main with class 12 is that students are in regular touch of most JEE syllabus. To score good marks in JEE Main in the first attempt, it is advised that you study class 11 and 12 topics thoroughly, clear all the concepts and solve mock test papers. Also, NCERT books which you study in class 11 and 12 are the best books for JEE Main preparation. Students must study NCERT properly and solve all the questions in the book and do not memorize the concepts as some students do rather understand the concepts.

Hope this cleared your doubt. Best wishes!

Q:   How to prepare for JEE Main from Class 11th and 12th?

A:
Starting the JEE Main preparation from class 11 or 12 is the best time. As JEE Main syllabus consists of topics from class 11 and 12, students can easily cover all the topics along with school. Students can begin by checking the topics that is covered in both school and JEE Main and give special attention to them. For all three subjects, study NCERT and also take help from reference books. Understand the concepts thoroughly and solve numerical problems. To crack JEE Main along with class 12, students should devote at least 2-3 hours for JEE beside class 12 studies. Regularly solve JEE Main mock test and solve previous year question papers to evaluate the performance.

Recently, the CBSE announced the Practical Exam notification. Students must utilise this time going through the Practical Exam Syllabus deeply as this would also help them in solving some tricky questions asked from NCERT Textbooks specially in Physics & Chemistry.

Q:   What is the closing rank for NIT in JEE Main?

A:
Closing rank for NITs varies from institute to institute. In general, students must have a JEE Main rank within the top 30,000 to have a seat in any of the NITs across the country. It is not possible to provide the exact closing ranks for all NITs as it is subject to change. However, generally, the closing ranks for admission to NITs through JEE Main are in the range of a few thousand to several tens of thousands, depending on the institute and the specific branch.

Q:   Can I prepare for JEE Mains in 4 months?

A:

To get a good rank in JEE and make to the IIT, you need to have a strategic planning that suits the present format of selection. The present format demands an all-round performance as it considers your Board Examination, JEE Mains and Advanced. Here are certain points that would help you.

  • Understand the JEE Mains syllabus and start reading the NCERT books thoroughly. The NCERT books are written by some of the best brains of India and these books are quite precise and concise. Your preparation must start with NCERT books. Read these books thoroughly and solve all the back exercises. Also try the example problems for further practice of objective questions. Remember that reading and understanding the NCERT books are not the same thing.
  • Solve previous year JEE Main question papers to understand your preparation level. It will also help in understanding the difficulty level of the exam and chapterwise weightage of various topics.
  • Solve JEE Main mock tests regularly to enhance time management and problem solving skills

Q:   What is the difficulty level of JEE exam? What is it all about?

A:
The difficulty level of JEE Main exam is a little high than the class 12 board exams. Students who are studying in class 12 can score good marks in JEE Main by studying a little extra for the JEE. Students who have studied NCERT textbooks of Physics Chemistry and Mathematics thoroughly can get good marks. The joint Entrance Examination, popularly known as JEE Main is for admission into NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs for B.Tech and architecture courses in India.

Q:   How can I prepare for JEE Mains in 2 months along with board exam preparation?

A:
After making the list, it will also become apparent that the syllabus for JEE and board exams is more or less similar. The chapters covered in board exam are theoretical in nature, while those of JEE are concept-based. 1. Confront challenges: Studying the vast syllabus of both the exams can be really challenging. The solution to this problem lies in confronting the challenge by making weekly plans and assessing performance regularly. This way, students will know where they stand for each exam and can focus on improving their preparation accordingly. 2. Studying NCERT books: Studying NCERT books thoroughly is enough for holistic preparation of both JEE and board exams. For additional help, students can also study from one or two reference books of renowned authors. 3. Sectional tests: In order to develop a strong foundation of concepts and theories, students can take up sectional tests. It will assist them in managing the available time judiciously and recognizing areas they are lacking in. Once they are done with the sectional tests, they can opt for mock tests to further enhance their preparation. 4. For Mathematics paper, due weightage is given for writing formulae clearly and correctly. Hence, it is of prime importance to be well-versed with the theorems and formulae. 5. Physics is a purely concept-based subject that needs to be understood and not to be mugged up. Students should have a clear understanding of fundamentals. Mechanics and electrodynamics are main parts of physics.

How to Prepare for JEE 2024?

Candidates can check here the quick guide on how to prepare for JEE Main 2024

  • Keep the syllabus of JEE Main ready and follow it till the exam.
  • Refer the study material from authentic sources required for JEE preparation.
  • Prepare a realistic timetable as per the time available
  • Remove all unnecessary distractions and make a habit of studying every day at the same time.
  • Make notes while studying any chapter, this will lessen your time during revision.
  • Complete the assignments on time and avoid backlogs.
  • Keep revising what you are studying.
  • Practice Test Analysis after every Test you take and learn from mistakes.
  • Stay disciplined and consistent.
  • Keep time to take short breaks while you are preparing.
  • You may practice meditation or Yoga for rejuvenation.

Detailed Study Plan and Preparation Strategy:

  • Prepare and follow a daily study schedule covering all three subjects. Do not neglect any subject or give excessive time to one subject.
  • First read the theory part and then practice problems. This helps to understand concepts in a better way. If you are not able to solve a problem, read the theory again and again till you get the feel of the topic.
  • Do not leave any topic that you feel is unimportant for the exam. Questions in JEE can be asked from any topic in the syllabus.
  • If you lack interest in any subject, then first complete easier chapters and solve problems from them to gain the confidence for learning the difficult chapters.
  • Study productively for long hours without lapsing concentration. Take small breaks between study sessions to maintain efficiency.
  • Time management and your strategy of solving questions is the key to score well in JEE. It can be only achieved by serious dedicated practice and questions solving.
  • Include problem-solving in your daily study schedule. Have a realistic & specific goal, something like 20 problems a day and increase your difficulty gradually.
  • Write notes along with your studies. You can add important points, shortcuts, formulas, reactions, mistakes, etc. Notes will help you in revision.
  • Be regular and punctual in attending all your coaching classes (if you are enrolled in one) and try to maximize this opportunity to resolve all your doubts and queries.
  • Avoid backlogs. Whatever is taught in the class, study the same thing from coaching modules after the class. Finish all your homework, assignments, daily practice papers and exercises on time. Don’t keep pending work.
  • Always remain present for the Tests of your Coaching Institute, no matter what your preparation level is. Analyze your previous tests before giving the next one. Learn from your mistakes.
  • Keep on revising your learned topics.IIT-JEE preparation takes a lot of your time. You understand topics, solve problems and old concepts fade away from your mind. For efficient preparation, consistent revision is necessary. Daily revise important points before sleeping.
  • Target small goals to achieve big results. The JEE syllabus looks huge at the start. You need to divide it in modules. Take up one topic at a time and accomplish the goals related to the topic; once that is over, move to the next topic in the syllabus.
  • Keep a check on your performance. You need to give tests on a regular basis to check your knowledge, speed, accuracy and time management skills.
  • Never feel depressed if you are unable to solve questions of a specific topic or a subject. Put all your efforts and hard work to understand the theory and re-attempt the problems.
  • Those students who are not associated to any coaching institute and are lacking confidence for JEE may join a crash course and All India Test Series to check their preparedness and plug loopholes in their preparation for JEE.
