SSC JE Syllabus 2025: The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct the SSC JE 2025 Paper 1 around Oct-Nov 2025 (tentatively). The Paper 1 of the Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Quantity Surveying & Contracts) Examination, 2025 tentative dates were released. The SSC JE syllabus is the foundation for the preparation. Candidates should prepare all the topics mentioned in the SSC JE 2025 syllabus. The authority will release notification for any modification in the SSC JE 2025 syllabus for the year 2025. Q:   What is the syllabus for SSC JE exam?

The SSC JE syllabus is divided into two categories Paper 1 and Paper 2. The syllabis for the SSC JE exam has been given below: 

Paper 1:

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: It covers questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory etc.
  • General Awareness: Questions on current affairs, history, culture, geography, economic scene, general polity, Indian constitution, Science etc.
  • General Engineering: Questions to test basic concepts and principles in civil, mechanical, electrical and allied engineering branches. Main topics include basics of civil and structural engineering, surveying, environmental engineering etc.

Paper 2:

  • Civil Engineering:
    • Building Materials, Construction and Planning.
    • Surveying and Levelling.
    • Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering.
    • Strength of Materials and Structural Analysis.
    • Transportation Engineering.
    • Water Resources Engineering.
    • Environmental Engineering.
  • Electrical Engineering:
    • Basic Electrical Circuits.
    • Electrical Machines.
    • Power Systems.
    • Control Systems.
    • Electrical and Electronics Measurements.
    • Utilization of Electrical Energy.
  • Mechanical Engineering:
    • Thermodynamics.
    • I.C. Engines and Gas Turbines.
    • Heat Transfer.
    • Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
    • Theory of Machines and Machine Design.
    • Production Technology.
    • Industrial Engineering.

Candidates need to prepare all the above topics from Class 11-12 level textbooks for the SSC JE exam. Regular practice of questions is important.

Q:   Are there only objective-type questions in SSC JE exam?

A:
SSC JE Paper 1 contains objective-type questions. SSC JE Paper 2 contains descriptive questions. SSC JE Paper 1 works as a screening exam and most of the candidates are filtered out for the main exam. There is a negative marking in the SSC JE Paper 1 which makes the paper more difficult. Candidates should prepare for the SSC JE exam in a integrated manner.

Q:   Is the SSC JE syllabus changed?

A:

There is no change in the syllabus of the SSC JE exam 2024. The exam continues to have two papers- Paper 1 (Ojective type) and Paper 2 (Conventional type). Paper 1 determines the General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness and General Engineering tendencies of the candidates. On the other hand, the Paper 2 tests the General Engineering of the candidates on specific engineering branch/displine-civil, mechanical and electrical. 

The latest syllabus and the exam pattern can be checked on the official SSC JE notification that will be released on February 29, 2024. Candidates are advised to prepare from the latest syllabus to prepare in the right direction.

SSC JE Syllabus 2025

The SSC JE exam is divided into two stages - Paper 1 and Paper 2. The SSC JE Paper 1 is an online exam that consists of objective-type questions, while Paper 2 is a written exam that consists of descriptive-type questions. The SSC JE syllabus is a broad outline of the whole engineering subject. Candidates are required to read, understand, and prepare all the topics mentioned in the syllabus to score better in the SSC JE exam.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) releases the Junior Engineer Syllabus with the official notification. The Commission conducts the SSC JE exam for the following three Engineering streams:

  1. Civil and Structural
  2. Mechanical
  3. Electrical

Candidates should prepare the above engineering subjects in their entirety because the Commission can ask questions of any extent in the SSC JE question paper.

SSC JE Paper 2 is a descriptive type question paper and the candidates are required to write the answers in the paper 2. The Commission asks the conceptual questions in Paper 2 to test the conceptual clarity of the candidates and the application part of the Engineering principles. In SSC JE Paper 2, questions are asked from General Engineering (Civil and Structural/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering) only.

The SSC will release the SSC JE 2024 Paper 2 answer key in an online mode tentatively in the second week of November 2024. The answer key will help candidates estimate their potential marks in the SSC JE 2024 exam. The SSC 2024 Paper 2 exam will be conducted on November 6, 2024.
