TN admissions to MBA and MCA courses is based on the centralised counselling process to be conducted by DTE, Chennai. As per the TANCET eligibility criteria, candidates with a bachelor’s degree can take this state-level exam. Anna University will release the results and scorecard. TANCET exam was conducted across 15 exam cities in Tamil Nadu.

Q:   When is TANCET counselling conducted?

A:

TANCET counselling process commences soon after the scorecard download window is closed. Typically, the counselling process for TANCET MBA admission commences within a month of the scorecard download window close date. In the past exam session, i.e. TANCET 2023 counselling, TANCET scorecard download window was closed on May 20 and the counselling process commenced on June 1. Unlike the exam events, candidates can find the TANCET counselling schedule on the Tamil Nadu MBA web counselling portal. Alternatively, GCT, Coimbatore releases the TANCET counselling press release mentioning the start date and end dates. Candidates can stay tuned to Shiksha's TANCET counselling webpage for current status of the TANCET counselling.

Q:   What is the TANCET counselling process?

A:
Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai, conducts the TANCET counselling process online. The TANCET counselling process involves several steps with a physical document verification round. Stepwise process for TANCET counselling is as follows: 1) Counselling registration 2) Checking TANCET rank list 3) Choice filling 4) Publication of tentative allotment 5) Confirming tentative allotment 6) Publication of provisional allotment 7) Supplementary counselling round 8) SCA to SC counselling All candidates will be allowed to participate in the general counselling process only after the certificates are verified.

Q:   What is the mode of TANCET counselling process?

A:
Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai, conducts the TANCET counselling online. However, the Certificate verification round is conducted offline. Candidates completing the counselling registration are allotted a centre to appear for the Certificate verification round. During the document verification, officials at the centre will verify the documents, including the TANCET scorecard, and hall ticket. Candidates failing to produce any of the mandatory documents are not considered for the rank allotment. Further, such candidates are not allowed to participate in the choice filling process under TANCET counselling.

TANCET 2024 Counselling

The Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai, conducts the TANCET counselling for all the eligible candidates. TANCET counselling is a part of the TN MBA admission process. Candidates need to get their documents verified to participate in the TANCET counselling process. TN MBA admission process has the following stages:

Q:   Which marks will be considered for TANCET counselling: normalized marks or actual marks?

A:

The normalization of marks in TANCET is done only for the engineering courses. To call candidates for counseling, the examination authority will use the normalized marks. Q:   I belong to ST category. Can I avail the benefits under the SCA to SC counselling round of Tamil Nadu MBA Admission process?

A:
No. SCA to SC counselling round is only conducted to fill the SCA category seats by SC candidates, if it remains vacant after the TANCET general counselling. After all the rounds of TANCET counselling, DTE, Chennai, converts the SCA category seats into SC category seats. Only the candidates who belong to SC category are eligible for this counselling round. Additionally, all the SC category candidates who have been allotted a seat priorly are eligible for SCA to SC counselling round. TANCET participating colleges where all the SC category seats have been filled, whereas SCA category seats are vacant can offer an allotment to SC candidates under this counselling round. SCA to SC counselling round is conducted in an offline mode. Thus, candidates need to visit the desired college to seek admission under the SCA to SC counselling round of Tamil Nadu MBA Admission.

Q:   What all documents are required during TANCET counselling?

A:

Candidates need to carry hard copy of the below mentioned documents at the time of Certificate verification:

  • Class 10 mark sheet
  • Class 12 mark sheet / Diploma Certificate
  • Graduation mark sheets for all semesters / Years of qualifying Degree exam
  • Provisional / Degree Certificate
  • Permanent Community Certificate Card (to avail reservation)
  • TANCET Scorecard/ Rank Card
  • TANCET hall ticket
  • District Medical Board Certificate (for Differently able Candidates only)
  • Nativity Certificate in electronic form / digitally signed e-certificate (If applicable)
  • Sri Lankan Tamil Refugee Certificate (If applicable).

Q:   What is TANCET supplementary counselling?

A:
Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai, conducts TANCET counselling in a single round, known as TANCET general counselling round. Seats that remain vacant after the TANCET general counselling are filled using the supplementary counselling round. DTE conducts the TANCET supplementary counselling in an offline mode. DTE releases the vacant seat report after the TANCET general counselling to fill the seats using supplementary counselling. Candidates who do not have any allotment from the general counselling round are allowed to participate in the TANCET supplementary counselling round. Additionally, candidates who wish for an upgrade in the allotted seat can participate in the supplementary counselling round. Candidates who did not participate in the choice filling process; however, have an eligible TANCET rank can participate in the supplementary counselling round.

Q:   What is the schedule for TANCET Counselling?

A:

TANCET Counselling 2023 has been concluded after the release of all MBA and MCA allotments. TANCET Counselling is held in multiple rounds, including publication of rank list, general counselling for MBA and MCA, supplementary counselling for bith MBA and MCA. Every year Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai invites application from eligible Degree holders for admission to MBA/ MCA courses offered in Government, Government Aided Engineering and Arts and Science Colleges, University Departments of Anna University/ Regional Centres, Annamalai University.

TANCET 2024 Results

Anna University hosts the TANCET results on the official website, tancet.annauniv.edu. Candidates need to enter their registered email ID and password to access the TANCET login portal for results. The result of TANCET 2024 exam will host the actual score, as well as the TANCET percentile score. Actual score is evaluated based on the marking scheme, while the percentile score is calculated after evaluating the number of candidates who took the exam and number of candidates who have scored less than particular mark.

TANCET Scorecard 2024

Soon after the declaration of TANCET results, Anna University releases the TANCET scorecard. The scorecard of the TANCET 2024 exam must be downloaded and retained until the final admission. During the document verification round under TN MBA admission, candidates have to upload the TANCET scorecard among other key documents.

TANCET 2024 Answer Key

Soon after the TANCET exam is conducted, Anna University releases the answer keys. Candidates are allowed to raise objections against the TANCET answer keys. The final answer key will be published soon after the objection window is closed. Anna University evaluates the performance of the candidate based on the TANCET final answer key. The TANCET answer key PDF is published on the login portal.

TANCET 2024 Hall Ticket

Anna University releases the TANCET hall ticket for all applicants. Candidates appearing for the TANCET exam have to download the hall ticket before the exam date. The hard copy of TANCET hall ticket, also known as TANCET admit card, must be carried to the exam centre. Candidates need to use their registered email ID and password to download the admit card of TANCET 2024. The hall ticket of TANCET exam carries important information, including the exam timeline, exam venue, and some key details of the test taker.

Candidates failing to carry the TANCET 2024 hall ticket to the exam centre will face denial in entry to the exam hall.

TANCET 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria varies across MBA and MCA courses offered by TANCET participating colleges. The space below mentions the category-wise TANCET eligibility criteria:

TANCET MBA Eligibility Criteria

Candidates aspiring for MBA admission based on TANCET exam must have a bachelor's degree with a 50 per cent aggregate score. In case the candidates belong to reserved category, they have a concession of five per cent in aggregate score requirement, i.e. reserved categories need 45 per cent aggregate in the qualifying exam. Candidates are eligible for TANCET MBA exam if they complete education in any of the following patterns:

  • 10 + 2 + 3-year degree pattern
  • 10 + 2 + 4-year degree pattern
  • 10 + 2 + 5-year degree pattern
  • 10 + 3-year diploma + 3-year degree pattern
  • 10 + 2 + B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch. / B.Pharm.
  • 10 + 2 + AMIE
  • 10 + 3 years diploma (awarded by the State Board of Technical Education) + AMIE

TANCET MCA Eligibility Criteria

Candidates aspiring for an MCA degree course based on TANCET exam must hold any of the following degree or equivalent:

  • BCA
  • BSc Information Technology
  • BSc Computer Science Engineering

In case the aspirant does not have any of the above-mentioned degree, they must have completed a bachelor’s degree with Mathematics as a major. Candidates who did not study Mathematics at graduation level course; however, have studied the subject at 10+2 level are also eligible.

Candidates who complete their education in the following pattern are eligible for the TANCET MCA exam:

  • 10 + 2 + 3-year degree pattern
  • 10 + 2 + 4-year degree pattern
  • 10 + 2 + 5-year degree pattern
  • 10 + 3-year diploma + 3- year degree pattern
  • 10 + 2 + AMIE
  • 10 + 3-year diploma (awarded by the State Board of Technical Education) + AMIE

The minimum aggregate score requirement based on the reservation criteria is as follows:

  • UR category candidates must secure an aggregate score of 50 per cent.
  • Reserved category candidates must secure an aggregate score of 45 per cent.

TANCET Registration 2024

Anna University hosts the TANCET registration process online. Candidates can access the TANCET registration link from the official website, tancet.annauniv.edu. Along with the registration, candidates need to fill some details to complete the application process, followed by uploading documents and payment of application fee. Candidates failing to pay the online application fee will face ineligibility from the TN MBA examination process.
