While NTA released the NEET 2024 qualifying cutoff, the NEET 2024 cutoff for government colleges will be released by the counselling authorities after the conclusion of the NEET 2024 counselling. The NEET 2024 counselling process commenced on August 14, 2024. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), the counselling authority released the complete schedule and process. Originally, four rounds were conducted till November 5, 2024. After that, MCC announced a fifth or Special Stray Vacancy round, which was conducted from November 20 to November 30, 2024. MCC conducted the Special Stray Vacancy Round 2 from December 9 to December 16, 2024. Some states are conducting the Special Stray Vacancy round of the NEET 2024 State Counselling process for the vacant 85 per cent State Quota seats. The institute-wise NEET 2024 cutoff will be released by the counselling authorities or the participating institutes after the conclusion of the counselling process, or individual rounds.

Q:   Can I get MBBS admission with a 300 score in NEET 2024?

A:

It is possible to get admission to a private medical college with a score of 300 in NEET 2023. For government medical college, one should ideally obtain a score above 600. The NEET cutoff for the Government medical colleges vary as per the institute rank and round of counselling. Hence, it can be said that a score of 300 in NEET 2023 may not be sufficient for admission to Government medical colleges. As per past years' trends, a score between 500 to 700 or above is in the cutoff marks for NEET.

  • NEET Difficulty Level-:   Difficulty level can impact the cutoff scores. A more challenging paper might lead to lower cutoffs.
  • Number of Seats-: Availability of seats can also affect the cutoff. If there are fewer seats, the competition is more intense, and the cutoff may be higher.

  • Candidate Performance-: The overall performance of candidates who appear for the NEET exam in a specific year impacts the cutoff. Higher-scoring candidates may lead to a higher cutoff, while lower-scoring candidates may result in a lower cutoff.
  • Reservation Categories specific categories, such as physically handicapped (PH) or differently-abled candidates, may have separate cutoffs.
  • All India Quota vs. State Quota-: HIMSR may have seats allotted under the All India Quota and the State Quota. The cutoffs can differ for these quotas.
  • Counseling Process-: The admission counseling process, which includes choices made by candidates and the availability of seats during counseling, can affect the final cutoff scores.etc..

It's important to note that the NEET cutoff for HIMSR can change from year to year, and the above factors interact in a complex manner to determine the final cutoff scores. To have a clear understanding of the cutoff for a particular year, it's advisable to refer to the official HIMSR website or contact the concerned department for the most up-to-date information and cut off score

Q:   What is the selection process for MBBS and what is the minimum NEET score required in Medical college?

A:

The selection process for MBBS admissions in India involves the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), which is the mandatory entrance exam for MBBS and BDS programs. Candidates must score above the minimum cutoff percentile set by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to qualify for the next stage. Admissions are divided into two quotas: All India Quota (AIQ) and State Quota, with AIQ accounting for 15% of seats and the remaining 85% allocated to the state quotas. Candidates register for counseling based on their NEET scores and preferences, which involves multiple rounds of seat allocation based on merit and preferences. Some seats may be reserved under the institutional quota and management quota, with different admission criteria. The minimum NEET score required for MBBS admissions varies from year to year, and it is advisable to check the latest NEET cutoff percentiles released by the NTA.
