SSC CHSL Posts & Salary: SSC CHSL 2023 notification was released on May 9, 2023. The SSC CHSL notification 2023 is the one-stop solution for all the important information regarding the exam including the SSC CHSL syllabus 2023, vacancies, exam pattern, post-wise eligibility criteria and salary. The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) mentions the SSC CHSL posts 2023 too in the official notification. The Commission changed the SSC CHSL exam pattern in 2022 to expedite the recruitment process. SSC CHSL 2023 exam now has only two tiers- Tier 1 and Tier 2 and the candidates are required to qualify in both tiers to get appointed to the desired posts.

SSC CHSL post list is released in the official notification. The candidates compete to get selected. The following SSC CHSL Posts are notified in the official notification, as per the requirement made by the indenting departments or ministries. 

Q:   How to choose SSC CHSL exam centre?

A:

Candidates need to give their preference for three exam cities (in the same region) where they wish to appear for the exam in a priority order when filling out the SSC CHSL application form 2023. The Commission does not consider any request for change of exam under any circumstances. However, the Commission reserves the right to cancel any centre and ask the candidates of that Centre to appear from another centre. The Commission also reserves the right to divert candidates from any centre to some other Centre.

Q:   What is the age limit for SSC CHSL 2024 exam?

A:
According to the SSC CHSL official notification, applicants must be between the age group of 18 to 27 years to be eligible to apply for the SSC CHSL exam, as per the cutoff date prescribed by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). The upper age limit for the general category is 27 years, Whereas reserved category candidates are given age relaxation in the upper age limit. The SC/ ST category candidates get 5 years relaxation, OBC category candidates et 3 years and PwD category get 10 years relaxation.

Q:   What are the total marks in SSC CHSL Tier 1?

A:

The Commission conduct the SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam in online mode. SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam holds a total weightage of 200 marks. As per the SSC CHSL exam pattern, the Tier 1 has 100 questions, 25 MCQs from each of the four subjects/sections - English, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Intelligence and Reasoning. There is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answers given by candidates.

SSC CHSL Tier 1 Marking Scheme:

The Commission mentioned the SSC CHSL marking pattern in the official notification. The correct answer will fetch 2 marks and

0.50 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

  • For LDC/ JSA, PA/ SA, DEO (except DEOs in C&AG): Candidates must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognised Board or University.
  • For Data Entry Operator (DEO Grade ‘A’) in the Office of Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG): 12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.

Qualification for Distance Learning Candidates

The candidates who studied in the distance learning mode will be eligible for the SSC CHSL exam if they fulfil the condition given below:

“As per the Ministry of Human Resource Development Notification dated 10-06-2015 published in Gazette of India all the degrees/ diplomas /certificates awarded through Open and Distance Learning mode of education by the Universities established by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature, Institutions Deemed to be Universities under Section 3 of the University Grant Commission Act, 1956 and  Institutions of National Importance declared under an Act of Parliament stand automatically recognized for the purpose of employment to posts and services under the Central Government provided they have been approved by the Distance Education Bureau, University Grants Commission. Accordingly, unless such degrees are recognized for the relevant period when the candidates acquired the qualification, they will not be accepted for the purpose of Educational Qualification.”

SSC CHSL Posts and Permissible Disabilities for PwD Candidates

For the SSC CHSL posts in the Border Roads Organisation, there is no reservation provided for the Person with Disabilities (PwD). For other posts in any ministry and department, the permissible limit for the PwD is mentioned in the official notification as below:

Q:   How many SSC CHSL exam centres can I choose?

A:

Candidates can choose three SSC CHSL exam centres in the order of priority, within the
same region.
Candidates are advised to choose the SSC CHSL exam centres carefully while filling out the application form. The exam centres once selected by candidates in the application form cannot be changed later at any stage.

Q:   Is it mandatory to appear for all the tier of SSC CHSL exam?

A:

Yes, it is mandatory to appear for all the two tiers of SSC CHSL exam. Candidates qualifying for the CHSL Tier 1 exam are called to appear for the Tier 2 paper. The SSC CHSL Tier 2 is conducted in two sessions - Session –I & Session II, on the same day. Session-I includes conducting of Section-I, Section-II, and Modules-I of Section-III and Session-II includes conducting of Modules-II of Section-III. It is mandatory for the candidates to qualify for all the sections of Tier II.

Q:   What is the weightage of marks in SSC CHSL exam?

A:
The marks obtained in the SSC CHSL Tier 1 and Tier 2 exams are counted for the final merit list. Final selection and allocation of Ministries/ Departments/ Offices to the candidates is made on the basis of performance of candidates in Tier 1 and Tier 2 examinations, the preference of Posts/ Departments given by them at the time of Document Verification and their performance in DV and Skill Test (Tier 3).

Q:   What are the minimum qualifying marks for SSC CHSL exam?

A:
Candidates need to score a minimum 33 per cent aggregate in SSC CHSL Tier 1 and Tier 2 exams taken together in order to qualify the exam. The aggregate score of both tiers is taken into account while shortlisting candidates for the next selection round, that is, the Skill Test.
