Review of IISER Thiruvananthapuram.
Placements: There is a placement cell in our college as well, which helps students to get jobs. However, most of the students in IISER, after five years of BS-MS, pursue Ph.D. abroad. Almost 75-85% of the students get Ph.D. opportunities outside India every year. ISRO and DRDO also recruit students for junior scientist jobs from here after BS-MS. Most of the students got internships at IITs, IISc, TIFR, IISERs, and some students at foreign universities as well, like Harvard, Stanford, Max Planck, etc.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is available in each and every room of the hostel, and all buildings of the college are well-equipped with Wi-Fi. The classrooms are awesome at the Lecture Hall Complex, which is equipped with digital boards as well as projectors. Food quality is also good (better than average).
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and qualified here. Most of the professors have done their postdocs or Ph.D. from abroad. Our college also has an MoU with some recognized universities and organizations like Max Planck, Manchester, Royal Society of Chemistry, etc., for collaborative research. The curriculum is relevant. There is a special program called I^2 BSMS to make the students ready for the industry. There is relative grading in semester exams, so it is moderate.
Other: IISER Thiruvananthapuram can be called one of the most beautiful campuses in India. It is situated near a rainforest, so its weather is also very pleasant, not too hot and not too cold. There is a small natural waterfall and a stream flowing through the campus. In the morning, peacocks and some other beautiful birds are seen here. Scholarships are provided for students on a merit basis from the Institute and the Government of India.

Absolutely satisfied because of good ambiance faculty and really good infrastructures and facilities
Placements: In my batch ( BSMS batch 21) there were around 230 students.
Mainly the curriculum is interdisciplinary.
During the first two years of the course foundation courses are taken for the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology and mathematics.
More than 80% of students from my batch got internship during this summer in different IISERs and in different prestigious institutions in India

Infrastructure: IISER TVM is a fully residential institute.
Lecture halls are fully furnished with world class standards.
Different study areas are also there.
Wi-Fi is free for all the students in all over the campus.
Hostels in iiser tvm are fully furnished with two single beds and common study tables and chairs.
Enough space for recreational activities.
A fully furnished dining halls to cater the dining needs of the students
It is supervised by the student body itself.
Medical center is present giving care to students.
Indoor stadium and recreational centers for sports and games activities.
Faculty: The minimum qualifications of faculty in IISER TVM is Ph.D. with a very good academic background.
The BSMS curriculum is dominantly interdisciplinary.
It moulds students to reach upto their dreams in future'.
The semester exams are somewhat difficult.
As each semester is completed the level of difficulty also increases in order to make students to gain knowledge in depth.
Also the marking is relative.
It increases the pass percentage.

Review for BSMS at IISER Thiruvananthapuram.
Placements: Yes, IISER Thiruvananthapuram provides placements in the integrated physical Science course. Nearly 40-45% of the students of our course gets placed at this college. Students in our course gets placed in the research and development fields. Average package offered in our course was between 4-8 LPA. Students also gets internships during their college years.
Infrastructure: As a recognized and prestigious institution, IISER Thiruvananthapuram has excellent infrastructure for our course. Modern facilities are provided to enhance student learning. The college offers labs for practical knowledge, a library, Wi-Fi, a canteen, a hostel, sports, and various other amenities the college manages for the students.

IISER: experiences and facilities.
Placements: The Integrated BSMS course that IISER is providing is a 5 year course. In this 5 years, 2 years is for foundation course where we learn Maths Biology Chemistry Physics IDC and humanities as core subjects. After 2 years of foundation we can choose our major where there is fixed amount of seats for each subject. Major courses offered are Maths Physics Biology Chemistry in Pure Science category and Maths Physics Biology Chemistry and Data Science in Iu00b2 Science category. For pure Science, 60 seats are available for each subject and for Iu00b2 there are 15 seats each. Since this is a research institute, most of the students are interested in doing their Ph.D. after these 5 years, so job placements are really low. But hopefully in a few years they will start job placements in a large scale. Almost all the students do more than 1 internship during our course mostly in our institute as well as in other institutes like IITs, IISc, IIST, IISERs and other national institutes. Some do internships abroad and in other companies.
Infrastructure: IISERs has one of the best facilities available for educational institutions across India. We have Wi-Fi throughout the campus including hostels and classrooms. Hostels are all inside the campus itself. We have two mess CDH1 (Central Dining Hall) and CDH2. We have got 4 hotels and 2 cafes ( a part of the mess providing payable food). We have a Medical center with doctors 24/7, a shopping complex containing a salon, two provisional stores, a tailoring shop and a data centre. We also have an indoor stadium containing Gym, Yoga halls and other indoor sports facilities. We have a football court, basketball court, kho ground and a Futsal court. We have also got a cooperative store run by the institute, a library with kiosk system and computers. The classrooms, most labs and library are air conditioned. Labs are of great facilities and have top machines, systems and other utilities. We have a beautiful campus which is well maintained and security guards are guarding the campus 24/7. Mess food is healthy but of average taste which caters to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian people. It is a student run mess. Both North Indian and South Indian food are available.
Faculty: Our professors are of top grade. We have classes taken by our professors, tutorials by our TAs (Teaching Assistants) who are mostly Ph.D. students under our assigned professors and then there are lab periods daily. Our curriculum is mostly research focused. It is a bit difficult to get into it at first. We have more exposure to practical lab experience. Semester exams are based on relative grading. So we are graded based on our batchmates performance. So if you don't study you'll get low grades.
Other: I have been fascinated by IISERs at an early age and is drawn to Science. We celebrate almost all Indian festivals as well as Halloween and some others. We have got a really diverse student community with students from all over India. We have an annual fest called Ishya which is grandly celebrated. We have DJs at almost every celebration.

Good campus life and facilities. Ideal for research purposes, and NOT for recruitment.
Placements: The courses offered in IISER TVM are research oriented and hence not fit for recruitment by IT/professional companies. Hence the institute doesn't have a proper placement cell. But the students here are extremely qualified for working in Research and development laboratories and for pursuing higher studies in Science subjects. Hence most students choose higher studies options like Ph.D. after graduation, instead of jobs.
Infrastructure: IISER TVM provides state of the art research facilities. The labs are of international standards, and have good opportunities for carrying out cutting edge research in basic sciences. The hostels, classrooms and labs are provided with free unlimited Wi-Fi connection. The library, computer labs, central instrumentation facility, etc. Also aid students in their studies. The mess is quite cost efficient, hygienic, and provides a mixture of south and north indian cuisine. The institute campus has one medical center, shopping complex, a good number of canteens, a common ground for outdoor games, an indoor stadium, volleyball and basketball courts, gymnasium for both boys and girls, a students' recreation center, etc.
Faculty: The faculty of the institute are extremely qualified. Most of the faculty members are leading scientists, carrying out cutting edge research in various disciplines of Science. The lectures are of average quality. The course curriculum in IISER TVM is fit for training students for exams like CSIR NET GATE etc. And also makes students prepared for taking up a career in academia/research. The courses here aren't aimed at making professionals. The exams are of moderate difficulty. The institute follows relative grading system, and results are made in grade and CGPA form (on scale of 10). .
Other: The institute has a number of cultural, Science and sports events throughout the year. The main events are Ishya (cultural fest), Anvesha (Science fest) and Itsav (sports fest). The students also organise various other programs and events, and celebrations are organised during every major festivals. The campus, spread over an area of around 200 acres, has around 1200 residents, including students, faculty and staff. The location is remote, and it takes around 2-3 hours of travel by public transport to reach the campus, from the nearest railway station/airport (Thiruvananthapuram). The campus is extremely picturesque, surrounded by hills and tress of the western ghats. "Inspire" scholarships are awarded to students on the basis of their JEE Advanced rank, or marks in class 12th exams and the year of passing 12th. In addition to this, other fellowships like KVPY can also be obtained by a few students.
